Barcode Programming
Netum barcode scanners are factory programmed for common terminal and communications settings. To change these settings, programming is accomplished by scanning the bar codes in this guide. An asterisk (*) next to an option indicates the default setting.
Important Notes: Many command barcodes only work with a scanner in particular connection modes (Bluetooth or 2.4GHz wireless mode) as indicated by the header row of each table.
Connection Modes
Wired Connection
USB HID-KBW
By default, the scanner operates in HID (Human Interface Device) mode as a Keyboard device. It functions on a Plug and Play basis, requiring no driver installation.
USB COM Port Emulation
Connecting the scanner to a host via USB allows the USB COM Port Emulation feature to enable the host to receive data as if from a serial port.
Note: Wired and wireless connection methods are selected automatically, with the wired connection having higher priority.
RF Wireless Connection
RF DONGLE HID-KBW
By default, the scanner operates in HID mode as a Keyboard device when connected via the RF Dongle. It functions on a Plug and Play basis, requiring no driver installation.
RF DONGLE AS VIRTUAL COM
Plugging the RF Dongle into the host enables the USB COM Port Emulation feature, allowing the host to receive data as if from a serial port.
Bluetooth Connection
Basic Mode (HID) (default)
This mode configures the scanner to Human Interface Device (HID) mode, making it discoverable as a Keyboard to other Bluetooth devices.
Basic Mode Features:
- No software installation required
- Connects to most devices
- Scanner interacts with host device like a keyboard
How to pair Bluetooth under Basic Mode (HID)?

Bluetooth keyboard Upload Speed
Configure the data upload speed for the Bluetooth keyboard mode:
Important Note: Default Idle Time: The scanner will power off automatically if no device is connected within 1 minute.
Un-Pair Bluetooth
To completely unpair the Bluetooth from a previous device, follow these two steps:
- Scan the "Un-pair Bluetooth HID" barcode. The scanner will disconnect from the current device and wait for another device to be paired.
- Remove or ignore "Netum Bluetooth" from your previous device's Bluetooth settings.
BLE Mode
For Apple Devices, a software/APP is required to work under this mode.
SPP Mode
For Windows or Android, a software is required to work under this mode.
Important Note: To shift from HID to SPP or BLE, scan the corresponding command barcode. To shift from SPP or BLE to HID mode, ignore (or delete) "Netum Bluetooth", turn off Bluetooth, scan the HID command barcode, then open Bluetooth and repair.
Keyboard Language
If using a French Keyboard, for example, scan the command barcode for "French keyboard". If using a US keyboard, this step can be ignored.
Scan Mode
Trigger Mode (Default)
Scanning this barcode enables the scanner to enter manual trigger mode.
Continuous Mode
This mode enables the scanner engine to scan/capture, decode, and transmit repeatedly.
Auto Sense Mode
Scanning this barcode enables the scanner to enter auto sense mode.
Data Uploading Mode
If operating outside the Bluetooth signal range, activate the scanner's store mode. All scanned data will be stored directly into the device's buffer memory. Data entries are permanently saved in the buffer memory until manually uploaded to the working station when near the device.
Quit Offline Mode
Scanning the following barcode causes the device to exit offline mode, and normal mode will be reinitialized.
Offline Mode
Scanning the following barcode activates offline mode.
Output Stored Data
Scanning the following barcode allows all data entries in the buffer memory to be manually uploaded after reconnecting to the working station.
Output Total Entry
Scanning the following barcode summarizes the gross quantity of uploaded data entries.
Clear Memory
Scanning the following barcode deletes all data in the buffer memory.
Get Battery Volume
Scan the command barcode below to get the approximate battery volume.
Idle Time
The scanner will enter sleep mode after 1 minute of idle/inactivity. Scan "Disable module Idle time" before configuring other settings in this section.
Convert Case

Restore factory default
Scan the following barcodes one by one to restore the scanner to factory defaults (four steps included):
- Factory Restore
- Serial Port
- Baud Rate 19200
- Enter+LF
Transmit Code ID Character
A code ID character identifies the code type of a scanned barcode. This is useful when decoding more than one code type. The code ID character is inserted between the prefix character (if selected) and the decoded symbol (refer to Appendix A).
