Operation Procedures
Starting-up the Machine
Before starting the generator:
- Check Oil Level: Ensure the engine oil level is within the recommended range using the dipstick. Add oil if necessary.
- Check Fuel: Verify there is sufficient fuel in the tank.
- Start Lever: Ensure the start lever (choke) is in the correct position for starting (usually 'RUN' or 'ON').
Oil Filling
To fill the engine with oil:
- Locate the oil fill cap and dipstick on the generator.
- Remove the dipstick and clean it.
- Insert the dipstick fully to check the oil level. The oil level should be between the 'MIN' and 'MAX' marks.
- If the level is low, add the recommended oil (e.g., 15W40 or 10W30) until it reaches the 'MAX' mark. Do not overfill.
- Reinsert the dipstick and secure the oil fill cap.
Connecting Battery Cable
To connect the battery:
- Identify the negative (-) and positive (+) terminals of the battery and the generator.
- Connect the negative battery cable to the negative terminal first.
- Connect the positive battery cable to the positive terminal.
- Ensure correct polarity is maintained.
Fuel Tank Filling
To fill the fuel tank:
- Open the fuel tank cap.
- Use the recommended fuel type (e.g., B7 Diesel).
- Fill the tank, leaving adequate space for fuel expansion. Do not overfill.
- Close the fuel tank cap securely.
Exhausting Air from Fuel Pipe (Priming)
This procedure removes air from the fuel system:
- Locate the fuel filter and connect a hose to it.
- Open the fuel valve.
- Press the primer bulb repeatedly until fuel flows cleanly through the hose, indicating air has been purged.
- Close the fuel valve.
Operation - START
To start the generator manually:
- Turn the start key to the 'ON' position.
- If the engine is cold, engage the pre-heater (if applicable) for a short period (less than 5 seconds).
- Turn the start key to the 'START' position.
- Release the key once the engine starts.
Operation - AUTO START
To operate the generator in automatic mode:
- Set the operation switch to the 'AUTO' position.
- Connect the generator to an Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS).
- The generator will start automatically when it detects a loss of main power and stop when main power is restored.
Operation - STOP
To stop the generator:
- Turn the start key to the 'OFF' position.
- Disconnect any connected loads.
- Allow the engine to cool down before moving or performing maintenance.
- In an emergency, press the red EMERGENCY STOP button.
Oil Change
Perform an oil change regularly (e.g., every 20 or 100 hours of operation):
- Warm up the engine for a few minutes, then turn it off.
- Locate the oil drain plug.
- Place a suitable container under the drain plug.
- Remove the drain plug and allow the old oil to drain completely.
- Replace the drain plug and tighten it.
- Fill the engine with the recommended type and amount of new oil.
- Check the oil level using the dipstick.
Oil Filter Clean
Clean the oil filter as recommended (e.g., every 100 hours):
- Locate the oil filter.
- Use a filter wrench to remove the old filter.
- Clean the filter element thoroughly.
- Clean the filter housing.
- Install the cleaned filter or a new one, ensuring it is properly seated.
Air Filter
Clean or replace the air filter as recommended (e.g., every 100 hours):
- Open the air filter housing.
- Remove the air filter element.
- Clean the filter element (e.g., by tapping or using compressed air). Replace if damaged or excessively dirty.
- Reinstall the filter element and close the housing.
Fuel Filter
Replace the fuel filter as recommended (e.g., every 100 hours):
- Locate the fuel filter in the fuel line.
- Disconnect the fuel lines from the filter.
- Remove the old fuel filter.
- Install the new fuel filter, ensuring correct flow direction.
- Reconnect the fuel lines securely.
