Product Overview
The Televes Overlight CWDM transmitter is an optical device engineered for outdoor installation, positioned near the LNB. It receives satellite signals from a WideBand RF LNB and terrestrial signals, distributing them to up to 64 users via a single 1550nm optical fiber output with a 9dBm optical power. Its efficient electronic performance and low attenuations reduce the need for amplifiers, simplifying large-scale projects and maintaining signal quality. It is also recommended for GPON installations.
This device is part of the Overlight system, designed to distribute satellite and terrestrial signals to multiple users through a single optical fiber. It supports amplification.

WideBand Technology
WideBand (also known as FullBand) is a broadband transmission technology utilizing a wide range of frequencies. In broadband TV systems, a substantial portion or the entire frequency spectrum is made available to users. It can be used in fiber optic installations over long distances or in coaxial networks with multiswitches adapted to this technology.
In WideBand technology, the LNB captures a satellite signal and distributes it via 2 universal outputs (Vertical -V- and Horizontal -H-). Each output carries a combination of the high (H) and low (L) bands within a frequency range of 290 to 2340 MHz.
While Quattro technology is currently the most used in TV systems, WideBand technology offers significant installation advantages:
- Simple, fast installation with less cabling: WideBand technology halves the number of coaxial cables connecting the LNB and multiswitches compared to traditional Quattro LNB installations, allowing for a simpler and faster setup.
- Wider bandwidth than other technologies: WideBand technology enables the transmission of more information due to its broad bandwidth (290-2340MHz), offering users a greater number of services.
Application Example
The diagram illustrates a typical outdoor installation scenario for the Overlight CWDM transmitter. A satellite dish and a terrestrial antenna feed signals to an LNB and a terrestrial receiver, respectively. These inputs are fed into the Televes Overlight CWDM transmitter unit, which is mounted outdoors. The transmitter outputs the signal via a single optical fiber cable. This fiber optic cable runs to an indoor distribution point, where it connects to a system that splits the signal to multiple end-users, indicated by several smaller Televes units labeled "PON 64", suggesting distribution to 64 users. Power adapters and connections are also depicted.
