This document provides installation instructions for the EPH Controls R37-HW 3 Zone Programmer. It is designed for use in normal environments.
The R37-HW is a 3-zone programmer that offers ON/OFF control for one hot water zone and two heating zones. It features built-in frost protection and a keypad lock.
Safety Information and Cautions
⚠️ CAUTION! Installation and connection should only be carried out by a qualified person and in accordance with national wiring regulations.
- Before commencing any work on the electrical connections, disconnect the programmer from the mains supply.
- Ensure none of the 230V connections are live until the installation is completed and the housing is closed.
- Only qualified electricians or authorised service staff are permitted to open the programmer.
- Disconnect from mains supply in the event of any damage to any buttons.
- There are parts that carry mains voltage behind the cover. The programmer must not be left unsupervised when open. Prevent non-specialists and especially children from gaining access.
- If the programmer is used in a way not specified by the manufacturer, its safety may be impaired.
- Prior to setting the timeswitch, it is necessary to complete all required settings described in this section.
- Never remove this product from the electrical baseplate. Do not use sharp tools to push any button.
Installation Options
The programmer can be mounted in the following ways:
- Directly wall mounted.
- Mounted to a recessed conduit box.
The unit carries the following certifications and ratings: [CE mark], [IP20 rating] for dust and water protection, suitable for ambient temperatures between 0°C and 35°C, and humidity levels of 5-95% RH.

Wiring Diagram Description
The programmer connects to the mains and heating system via a backplate with terminals. The wiring configuration is as follows:
- L: Live connection (200-240Vac)
- N: Neutral connection (200-240Vac)
- HOT WATER: Terminal 1 (ON/OFF control), Terminal 2 (Common)
- HEATING 1: Terminal 3 (ON/OFF control), Terminal 4 (Common)
- HEATING 2: Terminal 5 (ON/OFF control), Terminal 6 (Common)
- Other terminals: Terminals 7 and 8 are part of the internal wiring or power supply connections. The unit operates on 200-240Vac, 50Hz-60Hz, with a contact rating of 250Vac~/3(1)A.
Master Reset Procedure
To perform a master reset:
- Lower the front cover of the programmer. This cover is attached by four hinges.
- Locate a circular hole positioned between the 3rd and 4th hinges.
- Insert a ballpoint pen or a similar pointed object into this hole to initiate the master reset.
Following a master reset, the date and time settings will need to be reprogrammed.
