MEERKAT MEPBMW Push Button Installer's Manual
MEPBMW Push Button, Multi-Way Remote Dimming and Switching On/Off
The MEERKAT MEPBMW Remote Button enables Multi-Way dimming and ON/OFF functionality when used with the DIMPBD Digital Dimmer. It can also be used with the MEPBE Electronic Switch for Multi-Way ON/OFF control.
An inbuilt LED indicator can be configured in two ways by connecting Neutral to the MEPBMW:
- The LED indicator can be permanently "ON" when the switch is activated.
- Or, the LED indicator can be "ON" only while the button is pressed.
The MEPBMW will operate without a neutral connection, but the LED indicator will not function in this configuration. Multiple MEPBMW units can be connected in parallel to a single dimmer or a single 3-wire electronic switch, provided the total length of the remote connection wiring does not exceed 50 meters.
1. FEATURES
- Multi-Way dimming and ON/OFF switching for DIMPBD Digital Dimmers.
- Multi-Way ON/OFF switching for MEPBE Electronic Switches.
- Neutral connection is not required for button-only operation.
- Optional LED Indicator operation requires a Neutral connection.
- Suits TRADER and Clipsal* style wall plates.
- NOT FOR STAND ALONE MAINS SWITCHING.
- White and black buttons are included in the pack.
2. OPERATING CONDITIONS
- Operating Voltage: 230 - 240V a.c. 50Hz.
- Operating Temperature: 0 to +50 °C.
- Compliance Standard: AS/NZS 60669.2.1, CISPR15.
- Power Rating: Dependent on the connected Dimmer or Electronic Switch.
- Connection Type: Flying leads with bootlace terminals.
Note: Operation outside of the specified temperature, voltage, or load conditions may cause permanent damage to the unit.
3. LOAD COMPATIBILITY
- For use exclusively with MEPBE push button switches and DIMPBD push button dimmers.
4. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: The MEPBMW Multi-Way Remote Button must be installed as part of a fixed-wire electrical installation. By law, such installations must be performed by a qualified electrical contractor or similarly certified professional.
- Single Core Wiring: Up to 50 meters. Connect Active and Neutral (if required) locally. Ensure these connections are on the same phase as the dimmer or electronic switch.
- Twin Core Wiring: Up to 20 meters. If the remote button does not function correctly or exhibits false switching, use only the twin-core cable for the remote connection. Connect Active and Neutral (if required) locally, ensuring they are on the same phase as the dimmer or electronic switch.
4.1 WIRING
- Before commencing any electrical work, disconnect power at the circuit breaker.
- Clip the button onto the MEPBMW. Ensure the button is oriented so that the LED light pipe aligns with the hole in the button before attaching it to the wall plate.
- Reconnect power at the circuit breaker and affix the Solid State Device Warning Sticker at the switchboard.
NOTE 1: The MEPBMW is designed for indoor use only and is not rated for outdoor installation.
NOTE 2: Under normal operation in a two-way (or multi-way) switching circuit, the MEPBMW may produce an audible "switching/clicking" noise when activated.
4.2 WIRING FOR LED AND BUTTON OPERATION - NEUTRAL PRESENT

4.4 WIRING MULTIPLE REMOTE BUTTONS WITH DIMPBD DIMMERS
Wiring Diagram Description: Shows multiple MEPBMW units connected in parallel for Multi-Way Switching with a DIMPBD dimmer. Each MEPBMW has connections for Remote (White wire), Line (Red wire), and Neutral (Black wire, optional). The DIMPBD unit connects to the load and neutral. The total remote wiring length should not exceed 50 meters. Either LED ON or Button Only wiring configurations can be used.
5. IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNINGS
5.1 LOW READING DURING INSULATION BREAKDOWN TEST
The MEPBMW is a solid-state device. A low reading may be observed when conducting insulation breakdown testing on the circuit.
5.2 CLEANING
Clean the unit only with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or chemicals.
