TF520 Quick Start Guide V1.1
Brand: AMEWI
Quick Start Guide
This guide provides essential information for quickly setting up and using your Toslon TF520 fish finder system.
The device features a handheld monitor displaying sonar data, water temperature, voltage, and fish detection. It is powered by a DC input and includes various buttons for navigation and control.
Package Contents
The following items are included in your Toslon TF520 package:
- Monitor
- Transducer
- Sonar Box 520W
- Power cable (DC 5.5-2.1)
- Transducer Adapter
- Antenna for Monitor
- Antenna for Sonar Box
- SMA Radio Cable
- Velcro strap
Note: The Toslon TF520 Sonar Box is pre-installed in your Baiting 2500 boat and requires no further installation.
Powering the Device
Ensure you use the correct voltage to power the monitor and sonar box. Overvoltage can damage the device.
Component | Recommended Voltage | Maximum Voltage |
---|---|---|
Monitor | 9 – 15V | 16.0V |
Sonar Box | 9 – 12V | 14.8V |
Warning: Overvoltage may burn the elements in the device!
The following table shows the voltage ranges for common batteries:
Battery Type | Voltage Range | Permission |
---|---|---|
12V Lead-acid Battery | 10.8V – 14.8V | ✔️ |
8x AA NiMH | 7.8V – 10.6V | ✔️ |
8x AA Alkaline | 7.5V – 12.8V | ✔️ |
2S Lithium | 5.6V – 8.4V | ✔️ |
3S Lithium | 8.4V – 12.6V | ✔️ |
4S Lithium | 11.2V – 16.8V | ❌ |
Using the Device
- To maintain optimal R/C distance, do not place the display on the ground during operation. It is recommended to mount the monitor on a tripod at least 1.2 meters above the ground.
- Ensure the antenna on the boat is securely tightened. An improperly attached antenna will significantly shorten the R/C distance.
Key Functions
The device features several buttons for navigation and control:
Button | Function |
---|---|
Menu | Opens menu settings and allows switching between menus. |
Ent | Finalizes menu selections and confirms a setting. |
Up ⬆️ | Moves up in menus or increases a value. |
Down ⬇️ | Moves down in menus or decreases a value. |
Power / Exit | Turns the unit on/off. Can also be used to quit a menu setting. |
Display Overview
The display provides real-time information about your fishing environment:
- Depth Readout: Shows the current water depth.
- Water Temperature: Displays the water temperature.
- Boat Voltage: Indicates the voltage of the boat's battery.
- Fish Symbol: Appears when the fish finder detects a potential fish.
- Bottom Structure: Visual representation of the underwater terrain.
- Signal Indicator: Shows the strength of the sonar signal.
- Upper Depth Range: The upper limit of the depth displayed.
- Fish Arc: Represents detected fish.
- Real-time Echo Window: Displays live sonar readings.
- Lower Depth Range: The lower limit of the depth displayed.
- Monitor Battery Voltage: Shows the current voltage of the monitor's battery.
Menu Operation
In most cases, the default settings provide sufficient performance. However, you may need to adjust menu settings for optimal system performance.
Sensitivity
This setting determines how echoes are displayed on the screen. Increasing sensitivity allows you to see more details, which is useful in deep water. Decreasing sensitivity is recommended for shallow waters.
How to Set Sensitivity:
- Press the MENU key and navigate to "Sensitivity".
- Press the ENT key to confirm the selection.
- Use the UP/DOWN keys to increase or decrease the value.
- Press the ENT key to save the setting.
Surface Clarify
This option reduces interference caused by wave action, boat wakes, and temperature inversions near the surface. It works by decreasing the receiver's sensitivity in this area.
Fish ID Sensitivity
Adjust the threshold for displaying fish size. A higher setting allows weaker sonar returns to be displayed as fish, helpful for finding smaller species or bait fish. A lower setting prevents weak returns from being displayed as fish, useful when searching for large species. Set to 1 for big fish, and 9 for all fish, including small ones.
Sonar Gain
The gain controls the sensitivity of the sonar receiver. Higher gain makes the sonar more sensitive to echo returns, allowing weaker targets to be displayed. If the gain is set too high, the image may be cluttered with background noise.
Sonar Box and Monitor Binding / Radio Bind
Each Toslon TF520 Sonar Box has an "Identity Card" and can only be paired with one monitor. The authorization process is typically completed by Toslon before sale.
If you need to replace or pair a new monitor and Sonar Box, follow these instructions:
- Enter the "Radio Bind" menu. A message will prompt you to power on the Sonar Box.
- Power on the Sonar Box. The device will automatically initiate the radio bind process.
Note: Before starting the binding process, ensure the Sonar Box is powered off.
