Important Safety Information & Positioning
The Best Position in the Car
The CYBEX Pallas can be used on all vehicle seats equipped with a three-point automatic retractor belt. It is generally recommended to use the seat in the back of the vehicle. The front passenger seat poses higher risks in case of an accident.
Warnings:
- Do not use with a two-point belt or a lap belt.
- Ensure the vehicle seat belt runs diagonally from the back and does not lead forward to the upper belt point of the front seat.
- If using on the passenger seat, push the seat as far back as possible and ensure the upper point of the vehicle seat belt stays behind the belt guide of the child seat.
- Always follow the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations.
- Luggage or other objects that could cause injury in an accident must be secured properly.
- Do not use on sideways-facing seats.
- Use is allowed on rear-facing seats (e.g., in vans/minibuses) only if the seat is approved for adult transport. Ensure the headrest is attached.
- The child seat must be fastened even when not in use to prevent injury during sudden stops or crashes.
- Never leave your child unattended in the car.
Securing the Child
Place the child seat on the respective vehicle seat, ensuring the backrest (a) rests flat against the car seat backrest.
If the vehicle headrest interferes, pull it out completely, turn it, or remove it. The child seat backrest (a) should rest flat against the upright part of the car seat and be pressed firmly against it.
Note on Seat Covers: On sensitive car seat covers (e.g., velours, leather), child seats may cause wear. Use a blanket or towel underneath the child seat to prevent this.
Adjustment to Body Size
The CYBEX Pallas includes an inlay (i) for proper height adjustment, recommended for children aged 9-18 months.
For children over 19 months, the inlay can be removed. Height adjustment is then regulated by moving the headrest (e).
Headrest Adjustment:
Pull the slider (h) to release and adjust the headrest (e). Ensure 2 fingers can fit between the headrest's bottom edge and the child's shoulder. The headrest (e) has 11 positions and is integrated with the shoulder rest.
Removing the Booster Inlay:
- Open press buttons (d) on the booster cover.
- Lift the cover to remove the inlay.
- Remove the inlay as per age recommendation.
- Reattach the cover and fasten the press buttons.
Crash Pillow Adjustment (Group I, 9-18 kg)
Press buttons (z) to slide the crash pillow (p) forward; release to lock. The crash pillow should touch the child's chest without pressure.
Warning: The crash pillow (p) must be used with the main frame (w) and only up to 18 kg.
Sitting and Reclining Position (Group I, 9-18 kg)
To recline the seat, pull the handle (v). The seat slides down automatically. To return to an upright position, pull the handle (v) again and press against the booster.
Warning: Ensure the handle (v) audibly locks in any position. Reclining is approved for Group I (9-18 kg) only with the main frame (w) and crash pillow (p).
Always ensure lap belt (n) and shoulder belt (f) are tightly fastened.
Reclining Head Rest
The CYBEX Pallas features a reclining headrest (r) to prevent the child's head from falling forward when asleep, enhancing comfort.
Note: The child's head should always remain in contact with the headrest (r) for optimal side-impact protection.
The headrest inclination (r) can be adjusted in three positions by lifting it slightly.
Warning: The locking device (t) must never be blocked. Ensure free movement for safety.

Product Care
To guarantee the best possible protection of your child seat, it is necessary to take note of the following:
- All important parts of the child seat should be examined for any damages on a regular basis. The mechanical parts must function flawlessly.
- It is essential that the child seat does not get jammed between hard objects (e.g., car door, seat rail) causing possible damage.
- The child seat must be examined by the manufacturer after a fall or similar situations.
Removing the Seat Cover
The seat cover consists of parts fixed by velcros, press buttons, or button holes. Once fixations are released, the cover parts can be removed. Reassembly is in reverse order.
Warning: The child seat must never be used without the cover.
Removing the Seat Cover from the Backrest
- Pull the headrest (e) to the top position using release handle (h).
- To release the headrest (e), simultaneously pull handle (h) and the lower rim of the upper rib of the backrest (a). Now the headrest (e) can be completely detached.
- Now the cover can be removed.
- For reassembly, pull the adjustment handle (h) and insert the headrest (e) into the backrest (a).
Cleaning
It is important to use only an original CYBEX Pallas seat cover, as it is an essential part of the function. Spare covers may be obtained at your retailer.
Note: Please wash the cover before first use. Seat covers are machine washable at max. 30°C on a delicate cycle. Washing at higher temperatures may cause color loss. Wash separately and never dry mechanically. Do not dry in direct sunlight. Plastic parts can be cleaned with a mild detergent and warm water.
Warning: Do not use chemical detergents or bleaching agents under any circumstances!
What to Do After an Accident
In an accident, the seat can sustain damages invisible to the eye. Therefore, the seat should be replaced immediately in such cases. If in doubt, please contact your retailer or the manufacturer.
Durability of the Product
The CYBEX Pallas is designed to fulfill its purpose for an expected durability of up to 11 years. However, due to high fluctuations of temperature and unforeseeable exposures, note the following:
- If the car is exposed to direct sun for extended periods, the child seat must be taken out of the car or covered with a cloth.
- Annually examine all plastic and metal parts for damages or changes in form or color. If changes are noticed, dispose of the child seat or have it examined and replaced if necessary.
- Changes to the fabric, particularly color fading, are normal after yearlong use in a car and do not constitute a fault.
Disposal
At the end of the child seat's durability, dispose of it properly. Waste disposal regulations may vary regionally. Contact your communal waste management or city administration for proper disposal. Always note the waste disposal regulations of your country.
