Siemens RDG100/110 Room Thermostat Operating Instructions

Models: RDG100, RDG110, RDG110U

Introduction

The Siemens RDG room thermostat is an electronic device designed to maintain your desired room temperature. It offers flexible operation across Comfort, Economy, and Protection modes, with fan control available in Automatic or Manual settings. Users can utilize factory defaults or customize settings for personalized comfort and energy efficiency.

Main Display and Controls

Main Display: Shows current room temperature.

Displays temperature in Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F).

Indicates heating/cooling status (AUX/AUTO).

Shows button lock status and alert indicators.

Operating Mode Button (A): Cycles through Comfort, Economy, and Protection modes.

Fan Mode Button (B): Selects fan speed (Automatic, Low, Medium, High).

Rotary Knob (C): Adjusts setpoint temperature and navigates menus.

Operating Modes

Changing the Room Temperature

In Comfort mode, adjust the room temperature setpoint using the rotary knob. Turn clockwise (+) to increase and counterclockwise (-) to decrease. The setting range is typically 5-40 °C (41-104 °F), subject to parameter limits.

Adjusting the Fan Speed

Press the fan mode button to select the desired fan speed. In Automatic mode, the thermostat adjusts fan speed based on temperature. In Manual mode, choose between Low, Medium, or High fan speeds.

Note: Fan mode options can be configured via parameter P03. Parameter P15 sets fan speed in the dead zone.

Selecting Comfort Mode

Press the operating mode button until the Comfort symbol (☀️) appears. The thermostat maintains the setpoint, which can be adjusted with the rotary knob.

Selecting Protection Mode

Press the operating mode button until the Protection symbol (❄️) appears. The system stops, but heating activates if the room temperature drops below 8 °C to prevent frost damage. Specific frost protection setpoints can be configured by an installer.

Selecting Economy Mode

Press the operating mode button until the Economy symbol (?) appears. This mode maintains a lower or higher setpoint to save energy. Ensure parameter P02 is set to '2' for this mode. Setpoints for Economy mode can be adjusted via parameters P11 and P12. Setting Economy to OFF deactivates the thermostat, risking frost damage.

Energy Saving Tips:

Button Lock

Manually lock/unlock buttons by pressing and holding the fan mode button for 3 seconds (if P14 is set to 2). If P14 is set to 1, buttons lock automatically after 10 seconds of inactivity.

Temporary Timer Function

Extend Comfort or Economy modes for 0.5 to 9.5 hours using the temporary timer. Press and hold the operating mode button for up to 3 seconds while turning the rotary knob clockwise for Comfort extension or counterclockwise for Economy extension. The mode change is indicated by a symbol. The timer resets with any new setting.

Extended Comfort mode can also be activated with external contacts like keycard switches, with the duration set via parameter P68.

Changing Heating/Cooling Mode

The changeover between heating and cooling can be automatic (via sensor/switch) or manual (using the operating mode button, see P01). Manual selection is indicated by the ☀️ or ❄️ symbol. Automatic changeover is indicated by ☀️/ ❄️.

Control Parameters

To access and modify control parameters:

  1. Press both buttons (A and B) simultaneously for at least 3 seconds.
  2. Release and press the right button (B) again for 3 seconds within 2 seconds.
  3. The display shows P01. Use the rotary knob to select the desired parameter.
  4. Press OK. The current value blinks and can be adjusted with the rotary knob.
  5. Press OK to confirm or Esc to cancel. Repeat for additional parameters or press Esc to exit.
