Measurement Modes

Reference Point Setting

Press [UNIT] key to select the reference point. The device reference point by default is rear.

Length Measurement & Calculation

Single Distance Measuring

Turn on the laser beam by short pressing the [MEAS] button under measuring mode. Press the [MEAS] button again for a single measurement of length. The measured results are displayed in the major display area.

Continuous Measuring

Long press the [MEAS] button under measuring mode to enter continuous measuring mode. The minimum measuring result displays in the auxiliary display area, and the present result displays in the major display area. Short press the [MEAS] button to exit continuous measuring mode.

Area Measuring

Press button [Area symbol]. One side of a rectangle blinks on the display. Follow these instructions for area measuring: Press [MEAS] once for length. Press [MEAS] again for width. The device calculates and shows the result in the major display area. The last measured result of length is shown in the auxiliary display area.

Press [OFF/CLEAR] to clear the result and measuring if necessary. Press [OFF/CLEAR] again to exit the mode.

Volume and Pythagoras Measurements

Volume Measurement

Double press button [Volume symbol]. One side of a cube blinks on the display. Follow these instructions for volume measuring: Press [MEAS] for Length. Press [MEAS] again for Width. Press [MEAS] thirdly for Height. The device calculates and shows the result in the major display area. Press [OFF/CLEAR], clear off the result and measuring again if necessary. Press [OFF/CLEAR] again to exit the mode.

Pythagoras

There are four Pythagoras modes for situations where the target is hard to reach. Press [Pythagoras symbol] for mode selection:

  1. Mode 1: Calculate Second Leg

Press [Pythagoras symbol]. The hypotenuse of the triangle blinks. Calculate the second leg by measuring the hypotenuse and another leg. Press [MEAS] to measure the length of the hypotenuse (a) according to the blinking on the screen. Press [MEAS] to measure the length of one leg (b). The device calculates the length of another leg (x).

Diagram Description: A right-angled triangle with sides labeled 'a' (hypotenuse), 'b' (one leg), and 'x' (the other leg to be calculated).

  2. Mode 2: Calculate Hypotenuse

Press [Pythagoras symbol]. When one leg of the triangle blinks, calculate the hypotenuse by measuring the length of two legs. Press [MEAS] to measure the length of one leg (a). Press [MEAS] to measure the length of another leg (b). The device calculates the length of the hypotenuse (x).

Diagram Description: A right-angled triangle with legs labeled 'a' and 'b', and the hypotenuse labeled 'x' to be calculated.

  3. Mode 3: Calculate Leg (Full Line)

Press [Pythagoras symbol] till the hypotenuse of the triangle blinks on the screen. Press [MEAS] to measure the length of one hypotenuse (a). Press [MEAS] to measure the length of another hypotenuse (b). Press [MEAS] to measure the length of one leg (c). The device calculates the length of the leg in full line (x).

Diagram Description: A triangle with sides labeled 'a' and 'b' (potentially hypotenuses or reference lines), and 'c' (one leg). The calculated leg is labeled 'x'.

  4. Mode 4: Calculate Leg (Full Line)

Press [Pythagoras symbol] till one hypotenuse side of the triangle blinks on the screen. Press [MEAS] to measure the length of one side (a). Press [MEAS] to measure the length of the median line (b). Press [MEAS] to measure the length of another side (c). The device calculates the length of the leg in full line (x).

Diagram Description: A triangle with sides labeled 'a', 'b' (median line), and 'c'. The calculated leg is labeled 'x'.

Note: Legs must be shorter than the hypotenuse, or an "err" message will show on the screen. To guarantee accuracy, please ensure all measurements start from the same point.

Addition/Subtraction and Data Management

Addition / Subtraction

The device can be used for length addition and subtraction under single distance measuring mode. Press [+], '+' shows in the major display area, entering cumulation mode. The value of the last measurement and the result of cumulation will be shown on the screen. Press [-], '-' shows in the major display area, entering regression mode. The value of the last measurement and the result of regression will be shown on the screen.

Save and Browse

The storage function can only be used under single measuring mode.

Save Measuring Results

Press [Save/Read] for 3 seconds; the result will be automatically saved to the memory stick inside of the device.

Browse Measuring Results

Press [Save/Read] to read the saved data. Press [+] or [-] to browse forward or backward. Long press [OFF/CLEAR] to remove all history records.
