Siemens FLASH-UK MMB-1 Upgrade Kit
Installation Instructions
To increase the available FLASH memory on a SIEMENS Model MMB-1, complete the following steps in order.
NOTE
Install this upgrade kit if:
- The CSG-M indicates that the custom .mxl file is too large for the standard amount of factory installed flash.
- The .mxl file exceeds 80,000 bytes and the MMB-1 contains Revision 6.00 or higher.
- Inform the building owner and any other authority necessary that the System will be out of service while the changeover is occurring.
- Disconnect the standby batteries from the System.
- Disconnect the AC Power from the System.
- Open the door with the MKB-2 installed to gain access to the MMB-1.
- For MXL:
Disconnect the ribbon connector that links the MMB-1 motherboard (P8) with the ANN-1 on the back of the MKB-2 Annunciator Keyboard. - For MXLV:
Disconnect the ribbon connector that links the MMB-1 motherboard (P8) with P5 on the ACM-1. - Locate the IC socket numbered 115 on the MMB-1.
- Note that: The IC is installed with the U shaped cutout on the chip at the bottom of the PC board.
- IMPORTANT
IF THE ICs ARE INSTALLED INCORRECTLY, SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE MMB-1 CAN OCCUR AT POWER UP. - Put the additional IC 115 in an approved IC insertion tool (like that supplied with the CSG-2 kit). Very gently insert the IC in the socket labeled IC 115.
- Be sure that:
a. The U cut in the chip is towards the bottom of the board.
b. All IC pins are properly aligned with the connector. - Inspect the NEWLY installed IC to verify that:
a. All IC pins are properly seated in the socket.
b. The chip is in the right place and positioned correctly. - Reassemble the System by reversing Steps 1 through 5 above. Please refer to the MXL/MXLV Manual, P/N 315-092036, for additional assistance.
- Once the System has completed its initialization startup routine and the CSG-M has been loaded, perform a System checkout satisfactory to the building owner and the local authority having jurisdiction.
