Introduction

This manual provides instructions for setting up and using your La Crosse Technology LW3101 WiFi Color Weather Station. It covers initial configuration, connecting to the La Crosse View app, understanding the display, managing sensors, and important safety information.

The Basics

Initial Setup

Getting Started:

Note: It may take up to 10 minutes for your sensor's data to appear on the station's display.

La Crosse View App Connection

Stay connected to your home from anywhere with the La Crosse View app. Monitor your environment and set alerts for notifications. While the station functions as a standalone unit without Wi-Fi, connecting it during initial setup is recommended to unlock advanced features and save time.

Connecting Your Station

After creating your La Crosse View account, connect your station to your Wi-Fi router using the app.

Checking Your Station's Wi-Fi Status

Press the button at the top of the station to view its Wi-Fi status. Possible statuses include:

Adding Your Sensors to the App

Once the station is connected to Wi-Fi, the app will guide you on how to add your connected sensors. You should receive a notification within 15 minutes: 'Add a device in your app'.

Note: If 'DISMISS' is selected, you can scan the barcode on your sensor at any time to add it to your app. Instructions for scanning the barcode are on the next page.

Manually Adding a Sensor to the App

*This step is only required if you do not receive the 'Add a device in the application' notification.

  1. Open your La Crosse View app. From the main menu, navigate to 'ADD/EDIT' and select 'DEVICES'.
  2. On the Devices page, select 'ADD A DEVICE' or '+'.
  3. Scan your sensor's QR code or manually enter the Device ID.
  4. Confirm the sensor image and Device ID. Add a device name and location name, then select 'DONE'.

Before connecting to Wi-Fi and installing your sensor, ensure your station is receiving data from the sensor.

Station Settings

When the station is first powered on, it will search for the sensor for 10 minutes. To manually set your language, time, date, and other parameters, press and hold the 'REG.' button to access the settings menu.

Important Notes: Language and units displayed on your station are not controlled by the app; use the station's settings menu. The day of the week will set automatically after adjusting year, month, and date. In 24-hour format, seconds display instead of AM/PM markers. If connected to Wi-Fi, time and date will update automatically from the internet.

Buttons

  1. ALERTES: Press and hold to access alert settings.
  2. TEMP: Press to view temperature and humidity history. While viewing, press and hold the 'MINUS' button to delete a value.
  3. CAP. SUP: Press to cycle through additional sensors and barometric pressure. Press and hold to add sensors. While viewing, press and hold the 'MINUS' button to delete a sensor.
  4. +/- (PLUS/MINUS) [plus-minus-buttons]: Use to adjust a value. Press and hold both buttons simultaneously to initiate a Wi-Fi signal search. In alerts, use these buttons to activate/deactivate alerts.
  5. REG.: Press to view Wi-Fi status. Press and hold to access the settings menu.
  6. INT/EXT: Press to cycle between Indoor and Outdoor Temperature/Humidity displays.
  7. PRÉVISIONS: Press to refresh Forecasts.
  8. PREVISIONS [forecast-icon]: Press to change forecast hours. Press and hold to select precipitation percentage or value.
  9. RÉTRO ÉCLAIRAGE [backlight-icon]: Press to adjust backlight brightness. Press and hold to access the Auto-Dim setting.
  10. WIFI (on the back of the station): Press to initiate a Wi-Fi signal search. Press and hold to delete current network connection information and search for a new Wi-Fi signal.

LCD Screen Brightness

Press the [backlight-icon] button to adjust backlight intensity. There are 4 brightness levels plus an OFF position.

Auto-Dim Setting

Program your station to automatically turn the screen on/off at selected times.

  1. Press and hold the [backlight-icon] button to enter the Auto-Dim settings menu.
  2. Use the [plus-minus-buttons] to activate/deactivate the Auto-Dim function. Press to confirm.
  3. Use the [plus-minus-buttons] to adjust the start time. Press to confirm.
  4. Use the [plus-minus-buttons] to adjust the end time. Press to confirm and exit.

The [auto-dim-icon] will appear on the screen when the Auto-Dim function is active.

Temperature and Humidity

Viewing Temperature and Humidity Data

Indoor and outdoor data are displayed in the same section of the LCD screen.

Data Display Elements:

Viewing Records

Press the 'TEMP.' button to cycle through indoor/outdoor temperature and humidity records with timestamps.

Customizable Alerts

Setting Alerts:

  1. Press and hold the 'ALERTES' button to enter the alert settings menu.
  2. Use the [plus-minus-buttons] to activate/deactivate and adjust alerts.
  3. Press the 'ALERTES' button to confirm the setting.
  4. Programmed alerts are active when the [alert-icon] and [high-temp-alert-icon] / [low-temp-alert-icon] or [high-humidity-alert-icon] / [low-humidity-alert-icon] icons are displayed.

Alert Sound: When an alert value is reached, the station will beep 5 times per minute until the values return to the programmed range.

Important Notes: Alerts are deactivated (OFF) by default. When an alert value is reached, the station beeps and the icon flashes. Press any button to stop the alert sound. The alert icon will continue to flash until values return to the programmed range. This alert applies only to the station and will not affect the app.

Weather Forecast

Viewing Forecasts

You can view up to 6 days of forecasts and 12 hours of forecast data. The default display shows current forecasts and predicted high/low temperatures for the next two days.

* Your station must be connected to Wi-Fi to receive AccuWeather forecast data.
** Once connected, your station will display 6 additional forecast icons.
*** Forecast updates may result in the same readings if they are current.

Viewing Extended Weather Forecasts

Press the [forecast-icon] button to view forecasts for the next 3 days and 12 hours.

Forecasts When Station is Not Connected

When the station is not connected, you will see the current temperature and humidity, along with daily high/low temperature and humidity records from your sensor.

Day/Night Forecast

Once connected, the [sun-icon] appears during daytime hours and the [moon-icon] appears during nighttime hours if the forecast is sunny or partly sunny. Forecasts will only appear in the circular area.

Forecast Icons

When used as a standalone station, it uses barometric pressure changes to predict weather for the next 12 hours. The forecast is represented by 6 forecast icons (Sunny, Partly Sunny, Cloudy, Rainy, Stormy, Snowy).

Note: Forecast icons may not represent your current weather; they are a future prediction for the next 12 hours.

When connected to Wi-Fi, the station receives additional weather icons, precipitation probability values, and future forecast information, powered by AccuWeather.

Additional Forecast Icons Include:

Secondary Forecast Icons: The following icons appear in the extended forecast section: Sunny, Partly Sunny, Cloudy, Light Rain, Rainy, Stormy, Light Snow, Snowy, Winter Mix, Windy, Icy, Foggy.

Tip: The [wifi-icon] appears in the upper right corner of the forecast section when your station is connected and receiving AccuWeather forecasts.

Note: The default pressure reading is 1013 hPa (29.92 InHg). The station will self-acclimate if the pressure value is not set.

Additional Sensors

Whether you connect to the La Crosse View app or not, this station can display data from up to 4 additional sensors. This data shares the same area as pressure readings. Examples include water leak or rain sensors.

Auto-Scroll Icon

When the auto-scroll function is active, the auto-scroll icon [auto-scroll-icon] appears. Each reading will display for 6 seconds. Continue pressing the 'CAP. SUP.' button until the icon disappears to stop auto-scroll.

Adding Sensors

  1. Press and hold the 'CAP. SUP.' button until you see the sensor reception indicator [sensor-reception-icon] start to animate.
  2. Install batteries in your sensor. If the sensor has a TX button [tx-button], press it to force the transmission signal. This button is usually located in or near the sensor's battery compartment. The LED on the sensor will flash once.
  3. Your sensor should connect within 3 minutes, briefly displaying its ID and type on the LCD screen. The sensor reception indicator [sensor-reception-icon] will display continuously on the screen when a sensor is connected.
  4. Press the 'CAP. SUP.' button to cycle through the data you wish to display on the LCD screen. The auto-scroll icon [auto-scroll-icon] will appear if it is activated.

Note: Upon initial power-up or after a factory reset, additional sensors may connect automatically to your station.

AC/DC Power Adapter Information

Do not use the device if the power supply or cord is damaged, if it malfunctions, or if the unit has been damaged. Never use sharp objects to access the power supply interior. Do not disassemble, dispose of in fire, or attempt to modify the product. Avoid high temperatures, direct sunlight, and heat sources. Do not store or use the product outside specified temperature ranges (-10 to 70°C storage, 0 to 40°C use). Keep away from water or moisture. Ensure the power cord is not pinched or crushed. The power supply is for indoor use only. Do not place open flames near the unit. Unplug during thunderstorms or long periods of non-use. Turn off the device before unplugging. This appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience or knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a responsible person. Supervise children to ensure they do not play with the appliance. If the power supply operates unusually (sounds or smells), unplug it immediately and have it inspected by a qualified repair person. The power outlet should be easily accessible.
