1. Connect to a Computer

For Mac OS X
Option 1: Directly
[Computer Icon] Connect the Wireless USB Adapter directly to a USB port on your computer.
Option 2: Via the USB Extension Cable (If provided)
[Computer Icon] Connect the Wireless USB Adapter to the USB extension cable, and then connect the cable to a USB port on your computer.
For Windows
Option 1: Directly
[Computer Icon] Connect the Wireless USB Adapter directly to a USB port on your computer.
Option 2: Via the USB Extension Cable (if provided)
[Computer Icon] Connect the Wireless USB Adapter to the USB extension cable, and then connect the cable to a USB port on your computer.
2. Install Driver and Utility / Install Driver
For Mac OS X
a. Download the driver and utility from https://www.tp-link.com/download-center.
Note: If your computer has a CD drive, you can also run the included CD to install the driver and utility.
b. Unzip the downloaded folder and run the Install.pkg
file.
[File Icon] Install.pkg
[File Icon] Uninstall.command
c. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
For Windows
a. Insert the CD and run the Autorun.exe
.
Note: You can also download the driver or check for new releases at https://www.tp-link.com/download-center.
b. Select your adapter and follow the instructions to complete the installation.
Note: If you cannot install the driver successfully, disable your antivirus software and firewall, then try again.
3. Join a Wireless Network
Option 1: Via TP-Link Utility (Mac OS X) / Via Windows Wireless Utility (Windows)
a. For Mac: Click the TP-Link Utility icon [TP-Link Utility Icon] on the menu bar. For Windows: Click the network icon [Wi-Fi Symbol] on the taskbar.
b. Select your Wi-Fi network (e.g., TP-Link_XXXX
) and enter the Wi-Fi password when prompted.
Mac OS X Example UI elements:
USB-WiFi: On
| Turn USB-WiFi Off
| TP-Link_XXXX
| TP-Link_0903
| Join Other Network...
| WPS...
| Open Wireless Utility...
Windows Example UI elements:
Connections are available
| Wireless Network Connection
| TP-Link_XXXX
| Connect automatically
| Connect
c. Follow the instructions to complete the connection.
Option 2: Via Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) (If your adapter has a WPS button)
a. Press the WPS button [WPS Button] on your router.
b. Within 2 minutes, press and hold the WPS button [WPS Button] on the adapter until the WPS progress window appears.
