Eaton ONVIF Camera Support for Smart Home Controller 2.0
About ONVIF
ONVIF™ (Open Network Video Interface Forum) is an open industry forum dedicated to developing a global standard for the interface of IP-based physical security products. ONVIF is committed to the adoption of IP in the security market, ensuring interoperability between products regardless of manufacturer. More information about ONVIF, its objectives, and members can be found on http://www.onvif.org/.
SHC ONVIF Support
The Smart Home Controller (software version Eaton-SHC-7.1.1-1.1.x or higher) supports ONVIF Cameras based on the ONVIF Core specification version 1.02. The ONVIF Driver supports the basic Profile S (streaming profile), which is forward compatible. Profile S provides a standard interface to stream video and audio (Audio is not supported) between conformant devices and clients. Only the first Camera video connection (1st stream) with JPEG over HTTP is supported.
The following two ONVIF Camera drivers are available in the Camera configuration tab of the Web Admin Console:
- v1.02 (ONVIF) - Default
- v1.02 (ONVIF-SOAP) - Camera requiring SOAP authentication
Eaton cannot guarantee that all ONVIF Cameras will work. Always check if the Camera is ONVIF enabled.
Check for Camera ONVIF Compliancy
If the Camera doesn't work, it might be that not all cameras are ONVIF compliant or do not have the latest firmware installed. In some Cameras, the ONVIF support option needs to be enabled. First, some verification must be done to ensure the Camera is ONVIF enabled.
Please follow the below instructions:
- Check if the camera is ONVIF compliant (http://www.onvif.org/)
- Check if the latest firmware is installed
- Check if ONVIF support needs to be enabled (Camera manufacturer)
- Check if the first stream is set to: JPEG/HTTP
- Check if the stream is set to: HTTP Transport
Eaton Support and Engineering would like to know which cameras are used and which Cameras have compatibility issues. Please use the Camera Checker Tool to create an ONVIF test report.
Camera Checker Tool
If the Camera is ONVIF enabled but still doesn't work, use the Camera Checker Tool to create a test report. Login into the Web Admin Console, go to Tab “2. System” -> “Cameras" and click "Start" to start the "Camera Checker Tool".
