Introduction

This guide provides instructions on setting up and using the USB storage functionality on the Casa Systems NF18MESH device. It enables users to manage attached USB storage devices and create accounts to access the data stored on them.

Storage Device Information

The storage device info page displays information about the attached USB storage device.

Logging In to the Web Interface

  1. Open a web browser (such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Firefox).
  2. Type the following address into the address bar and press Enter:

    http://cloudmesh.net or http://192.168.20.1

  3. Enter the following credentials:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: The password printed on the back of the modem.
  4. Click the Login button.

NOTE: Some Internet Service Providers use custom passwords. If login fails, contact your Internet Service Provider. Use your own password if it has been changed.

Configuring USB Storage Sharing

  1. Click on the "Content Sharing" menu on the left side of the page.
  2. Enable Samba (SMB) Share and provide user account details.
  3. Click the "Apply/Save" button to create a user account.

Adding an account allows the creation of specific user accounts with a password to further control access permissions.

Navigate to ADVANCED > Access Control > SAMBA(LAN). Ensure that the SAMBA Service is Enabled and click "Apply/Save". Note that the NF18MESH only supports SAMBA version 1.

The interface displays options for UPnP, DLNA, and Samba (SMB) sharing, along with fields to add a new user (Username, Password) and a list of current users. The Access Control section lists various services (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SAMBA, etc.) with options to enable or disable them for LAN and WAN, along with their respective ports. SAMBA is shown as Enabled with port 445.

Accessing USB Hard Drive via Windows PC

  1. Exit the NetComm router's Web Interface page.
  2. Open "Windows Explorer".
  3. Type \192.168.20.1 in the address bar and press Enter.

Note: Windows Explorer is different from Internet Explorer. You can open Windows Explorer by opening Computer or Documents.

Important: Turn off firewall/antivirus firewall if there is no connection to USB storage through Wireless.

  1. When prompted for login details, type the Storage User Account Username and Password. The example uses "user1" as the username.
  2. Once logged in, you will be able to view and edit the contents of the USB storage device.

Windows Explorer will display the shared USB drive(s) (e.g., "usb0_1 Share").

Accessing USB Hard Drive via Mac PC

  1. On your Mac, click on Go > Connect to a Server.
  2. Enter the path to the network drive you want to map, e.g.: smb://192.168.20.1, then click Connect.
  3. Enter your Storage User Account Username and Password as shown below and click the Connect button to mount the network drive.

The drive will now appear on your Finder window sidebar, showing the shared contents.
