Selections based on 100° Liquid
Application
High Temp Unit Coolers are designed for use with R12, R22, R134a, R404A, R407A/B/C, R507 or R502 refrigerants.
At room temperatures above 34°F and evaporating temperatures no lower than 27°F, the air flowing through the coil will accomplish defrost. Temperatures of 34°F and below (to -40°F) require positive defrosting (either Electric or Hot Gas).
The coil must not be exposed to any abnormal atmospheric or acidic environments, which may cause corrosion or coil failure. Consult manufacturer for optional baked-on phenolic protective coatings.
Installation
Installation and start-up should only be performed by qualified refrigeration mechanics, in accordance with all applicable codes, ordinances, and local by-laws.
Inspection
Inspect all equipment before unpacking for visible signs of damage or loss. Check shipping list against material received to ensure shipment is complete.
Important: Consignees must make any necessary claims against the transportation company for shipping damage or missing parts. Claims for concealed damage should also be filed with the carrier.
Verify electrical characteristics match order and available power.
Save all shipping papers, tags, and instruction sheets.
Location
Select unit location for uniform air distribution. Ensure air is not blown directly out through opened doors and that product does not obstruct air circulation.
Note: Units draw air through the fan and discharge air from the coil side.
Provide minimum 2" (50mm) clearance adjacent to walls for hinged drain pan servicing. Channel type hangers are provided; rear hangers are slotted for installation.
Mounting
Mounting brackets with 7/16" dia. holes are provided for flush ceiling mounting. Ensure the ceiling is level for proper drain pan slope during defrost.
Drain Line
Run drain line from connection, sloping at least 4" per foot. A trap outside the room prevents warm air entry. Connect to proper drainage facilities complying with local regulations.
Ensure drain pan has sufficient slope for proper drainage and to prevent ice build-up/blockage.
Piping
Refrigerant line sizes are important and may differ from coil connections. Consult "Recommended refrigerant line sizes" charts or engineering manuals if unsure.
Wiring
Wire system according to governing standards and local codes. Refer to page 2 for wiring diagrams. Electrical wiring must be sized according to minimum ampacity rating.
System Check
Before Start-Up:
- Verify all wiring complies with local codes.
- Ensure refrigerant lines are properly sized.
- Off-cycle defrost systems should include a liquid line solenoid valve.
- Confirm thorough evacuation and dehydration have been performed.
- Ensure suction, discharge, and receiver service valves are open.
- System should include a liquid line drier moisture indicator and suction filter.
- Pour water into the drain pan to check drainage and seal the trap.
After Start-Up:
- Check compressor oil level for correct charge.
- Verify expansion valve is set correctly for superheat.
- Note that heavy moisture loads are common during initial system start-up.
- Check evaporator fan blade rotation.
Maintenance
Periodically inspect the unit for dirt or build-up on the fin surface. Clean with a soft whisk or brush if necessary.
