Before configuring your unit controller, ensure you understand the application and identify the equipment configuration. This includes:

Understanding the LCD
After applying power to your rooftop unit (RTU), a start-up sequence begins on the Unit Control Board (UCB) LCD. When the controller is ready, the screen is blank if no faults are present. Navigate menus using the joystick and two push buttons (ENTER, CANCEL) below the LCD.
UCB Navigation
The UCB features a joystick for navigation and two push buttons: ENTER and CANCEL. The joystick moves the cursor up or down to scroll through selections. Press ENTER to display sub-menu items or property values. Move the joystick up or down to display other property values.
The UCB top-level menu includes options such as:
- Status
- Alarms
- Summary
- Commission
- Controller
- Update
- Details
- Self Test
- View Results
Start-up Sequence
When power is applied, the UCB begins the following start-up sequence. During this time, the joystick, ENTER button, and CANCEL button are non-functional.
- The LCD scrolls the text Johnson Controls on the top line and JCI on the bottom line.
- The display backlight and green power LED light and remain lit as long as power is applied to the C and 24V terminals.
- The red fault LED lights, goes off briefly, and then flashes throughout the start-up sequence.
- The green SA bus LED lights briefly.
