PreSonus StudioLive RM Series
Next-Generation Digital Mixing Systems
The PreSonus StudioLive® RM Series offers a new paradigm in live sound mixing, combining powerful digital processing with intuitive, touch-ready control. These rackmount mixers are designed to put the future of live sound mixing at your fingertips.
StudioLive RM32AI and RM16AI
The StudioLive RM Series mixers are available in 32-channel (RM32AI) and 16-channel (RM16AI) configurations. They feature:
- 32-channel/25-bus mixer architecture.
- 16 recallable remote XMAX™ analog mic preamplifiers with +48V phantom power.
- 32 channels, each equipped with dual (A/B) Fat Channel processing, offering a 4-band parametric EQ, compressor, limiter, high-pass filter, and gate.
- 16 auxiliary mix buses, each with full Fat Channel processing.
- 4 internal FX buses (2 for reverb, 2 for delay).
- Flexible Main L/R + mono or LCR mixing options.
- Extensive digital connectivity via a 52 x 34 digital FireWire I/O.
UC Surface: Intuitive Touch Control
The core of the RM Series experience is UC Surface, PreSonus's advanced, touch-ready control software. Designed specifically for live sound mixing, UC Surface provides a 'battle-ready' interface with contextual navigation for quick, intuitive access to all functions without complex menus or bank switching.
The software interface is organized into several key areas:
- Fat Channel Section: Displays parameter names, current values, and visual meters for EQ, compression, and gating. On touchscreens, an adjustment meter appears under the finger for precise control.
- Channel Strip Section: Shows channel number, name, type icon, fader, input meter, gate gain-reduction meter, compressor gain-reduction meter, solo, mute, pan, and clipping warnings. Users can swipe left or right to view other channels.
- Flex Master Channel Strip: Displays the master channel for the selected mix, offering EQ micro views, solo, mute, and GEQ/FX Edit controls.
- Mix Selection Area: The primary navigation for selecting and controlling different mixes (e.g., Mix 1/2, Mix 3, FX A). It includes mix name editing, stereo linking, copy/paste functions, and mix position routing (Pre, Post).
- Main Output Area: Provides controls for Main Mono/Center and Main L/R channels, along with FX settings, Scenes/Mutes, and Talkback functionality.
- Meter Bridge: Offers a visual overview of input meters for all channels, allowing users to navigate to specific channels by selecting them or dragging a highlighted window.
UC Surface allows for simultaneous control from multiple devices, enabling Front of House mixing from a touchscreen, monitor mixing from a laptop, and remote control from an iPad, all at the same time.
Active Integration: A Connected Ecosystem
PreSonus's Active Integration technology creates a tightly integrated hardware and software ecosystem. This synergy enhances the user experience and solves practical mixing challenges.
- QMix-AI: A dedicated iPhone app for personal monitor mixes. It features the 'Wheel of Me' for adjusting personal mix volume relative to the overall mix and allows control over aux send levels and pan positions.
- Capture: Included multitrack recording software designed for live recording. It offers virtual soundcheck capabilities, allowing engineers to set up and soundcheck a band before their arrival. Capture supports up to 64 tracks, advanced marker placement, channel name sharing with UC Surface and QMix-AI, and safety features like auto-save.
- Studio One Artist: A full-featured Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) included with RM Series mixers. It integrates seamlessly with Capture files, automatically loading Studio One tracks with the Fat Channel plug-in set to the exact parameters used during the live mix. This significantly speeds up mixdown and final mixing processes.
