Installation Diagram and Connections
The rear panel of the NBX30A subwoofer box features several connection points and controls:
- 1. POWER(GND): Must be connected to the chassis of your vehicle with a perfect electrical connection (remove some paint to reveal bare metal if necessary) and with the ground cable.
- 2. +12V: Connect the +12V power supply of the car battery with the power cable. (Note: power connections).
- 3. REMOTE: Connect the electrical aerial output or the remote output of your radio with the remote cable.
- 4. FUSE: Protects the unit from damage made by dangerous volume of current.
- 5. POWER INDICATOR LIGHT: Indicates when the unit is powered on.
- 6. LEVEL: Adjusts the input gain of the unit to accept different levels of signal inputs.
- 7. CROSSOVER: There are 2 optional modes for the crossover: FULL, L.P.F.
- 8. FILTER: This is adjusting L.P.F frequencies. Controls frequency of the amplifier between 40Hz and 150Hz.
- 9. INPUT(R): Connect to the RCA output of the car radio with the RCA cable.
- 10. INPUT(L): Connect to the RCA output of the car radio with the RCA cable.
- 11. REMOTE CONTROL: Attach the included remote level control to control the volume level of the subwoofer independently.
- 12. HIGH LEVEL INPUTS: If your head unit does not have RCA outputs, you can use the speaker outputs for the audio source for the subwoofer.
Low Level Input Wiring
Low-level (RCA) input wiring is preferred for best audio performance. Most trunk and under-seat installations will require a 6-12 feet RCA cable. Always use a high-quality cable. This connection involves running an RCA cable from the car radio's RCA outputs (labeled R and L) to the NBX30A's INPUT(R) and INPUT(L) terminals, along with a remote cable from the car radio's remote output to the NBX30A's REM terminal. The NBX30A's +12V terminal connects to the car battery's positive terminal via a power cable with an inline fuse near the battery. The NBX30A's GND terminal connects to a metal point on the car's chassis.
NOTE: Do not connect BOTH the high level and low level inputs from your receiver to your amplifier at the same time!
High Level Input Wiring
The high level input(s) should only be used when your receiver lacks RCA outputs. If the RCA outputs are not present, connect the speaker outputs from the receiver to the high level input connector of the amplifier. Be sure to observe polarity to avoid audio phase problems. This connection involves running speaker wires from the receiver's speaker outputs (labeled R+, R-, L+, L-) to the NBX30A's HIGH LEVEL INPUTS. The NBX30A's +12V terminal connects to the car battery's positive terminal via a power cable with an inline fuse near the battery. The NBX30A's GND terminal connects to a metal point on the car's chassis. The remote cable connects from the car radio's remote output to the NBX30A's REM terminal.
NOTE: Do not connect BOTH the high level and low level inputs from your receiver to your amplifier at the same time!
Mount The Subwoofer Box
Inside The Trunk: Decide the best location possible that suits your automobile and space available. The best and most secure location for optimum sound quality is behind the rear seats, in the trunk floor. To avoid difficult heat dissipation, do not surround the unit; ensure the surrounding air convection is smooth, which is much better for reducing the working temperature. Remark: It's hard to avoid having a jolt or scram for automobile while running; be laying firmly enough, suggest you use a bandage to fix the subwoofer box. (This bandage is not included, please buy by yourself.) Please make sure the bass tube.
Adjusting The Sound Level
- Turn the level controls of the amplifier to their minimum positions. Choose music with high dynamic content that you like, that you are familiar with, and will be most often used in the system.
- Turn the unit up to its highest undistorted output level. If you lack test equipment, this point occurs between 3/4 to full volume depending on the quality of your source unit. Listen for any audible distortion. If any distortion is audible, reduce the volume of the source unit until you have an undistorted output. Leave the volume control at this position during your system tuning.
- Continuous exposure to sound pressure levels over 100dB may cause permanent hearing loss. High-powered automotive sound systems can generate sound pressure levels in excess of 130dB. When playing your system at high levels, please use heat protection and prevent long-term exposure.
