Introduction
The Trotec PTNS 10-20V is a high-performance portable cordless tacker designed for the hobby and DIY sector. It is suitable for tacking cardboard, leather, textile or natural fibres, foils, and similar materials onto soft ground such as softwood or material similar to wood.
The device features a magazine filling level indicator, an integrated LED work light, and a battery level indication on the battery itself.

Transport and Storage
Transport: Use the provided transport case. Before transporting, switch off the device, unplug the charger, allow it to cool, and remove the battery. Observe regulations for transporting Li-ion batteries.
Storage: Store the device in a dry place, protected from frost, heat, dust, and direct sunlight, ideally in the transport case. Ensure ambient temperature is below 45°C. Do not store discharged Li-ion batteries.
Start-up
Unpacking: Remove the device and accessories from packaging. Check for completeness and damages. Dispose of packaging material responsibly.
Charging the Battery:
- Note: Improper charging can damage the battery. Remove charger plug before handling the battery. Charge between 10°C and 40°C.
- The battery is partially charged upon delivery.
- To charge: Slide battery (9) onto the quick charger (7) until it locks. Plug the charger into a socket. The red LED (8) will light up. Charging takes approximately 1 hour. Wait for the red LED to turn off and the green LED (14) to light up, indicating a full charge. Unplug the charger, allow the battery to cool, then remove it by pressing the release button (13).
Inserting the Battery: Slide the battery (9) onto the device until it locks in place.
Checking Battery Status: The battery level indication (12) on the battery shows the charge status via LEDs (Green-Orange-Red for max, Orange-Red for medium, Red for weak charge).
Removing the Battery: Press the unlocking button (13) and pull the battery (9) off the device.
Filling the Magazine:
- Warning: Remove battery before filling. Do not hold the trigger when a staple/nail is jammed. Wear safety glasses ?.
- Use the magazine filling level indicator (3) to check the supply.
- Do not force the magazine open or closed.
- To fill: Remove battery. Turn device upside down. Squeeze magazine release (18) and pull magazine slider (4) back. Insert staples (10) with tips pointing up, or wire nails (11) with heads pointing down (observe mark 20). Slide magazine slider (4) back into place until it clicks.
Operation
Impact Force Preselection: Adjust the impact force using the regulator (16) for different materials (stages 1-6). Start with the lowest setting and test on excess material.
Switching the Device On and Off: Wear PPE. Place the device on the workpiece and push the trigger (2). The trigger is linked to the guide nose (5) and only activates when pressed against the workpiece.
Operation Tips: Apply the device firmly and at a right angle to the workpiece. Be careful on soft workpieces. Observe fastener sizes. Check magazine level indicator.
Shutdown: Switch off the device. Unplug the charger. Remove the battery. Clean and store the device as per instructions.

Errors and Faults
First Use: Light smoke or odour is normal and disappears after brief use.
Battery Not Charging: Check battery insertion, power connection, cable/plug, fusing, charger condition, and battery terminals. Batteries may need replacement.
Device Not Starting: Battery may be low. Check battery connection to the device and clean terminals. Ensure the tacker guide nose is properly engaged with the workpiece.
Jammed Staple or Wire Nail: Remove the battery first. Do not hold the trigger. Open magazine release to remove the fastener.
No Staple or Wire Nail Ejection: Check fastener insertion and magazine level. Insert new fasteners if needed.
Staple/Nail Not Penetrating Deeply: Adjust the impact force regulator (16).
Device Becomes Hot: Keep ventilation openings clear. Wait 10 minutes before restarting.
Device Not Operating Correctly: Contact customer service or an authorized specialist company for repair.
Maintenance
Before Maintenance: Switch off the device, allow it to cool, and remove the battery.
Notes: No user-serviceable parts inside. Maintenance requiring housing opening must be done by authorized specialists.
Safety Signs: Check battery and charger safety signs regularly.
Cleaning: Clean the device before and after each use with a soft, damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid aggressive cleaning agents. Keep connecting terminals clean. Keep ventilation openings free of dust.
