Electrical Requirements
Warning: Double insulated tools are equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug fits into a polarized outlet and can only be inserted in one way. If the plug does not fit the outlet, turn it over. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician or install a polarized outlet. Do not alter the plug in any way. Double insulation eliminates the need for a three-prong grounded power cord or a grounded electrical system.
Warning: When using an extension cord, ensure it is of sufficient gauge to carry the current your tool will consume. An undersized cord will cause voltage drops, resulting in power loss and motor overheating. The following table shows the correct gauge to use depending on the cord length and the amperage rating on the tool's data plate. If in doubt, use the next higher gauge.
Amperage Capacity | Number of conductors | Extension Cord Gauge (up to 15m) | Extension Cord Gauge (over 15m) |
---|---|---|---|
0 to 10 A | 18 AWG(*) | 16 AWG | 16 AWG |
10 to 13 A | 16 AWG | 14 AWG | 14 AWG |
13 to 15 A | 14 AWG | 12 AWG | 12 AWG |
15 to 20 A | 8 AWG | 6 AWG | 6 AWG |
(*) Can be used as long as the extensions themselves have overcurrent protection. AWG = American Wire Gauge. Reference: NMX-J-195-ANCE-2006
Warning: When operating power tools outdoors, use a grounded extension cord marked for "Outdoor Use" (Voltech® brand). These extensions are specifically for outdoor use and reduce the risk of electric shock.

Safety Rules for Grinders
Choosing the Right Disc
- Warning: Never use a disc with a diameter larger than the one specified for the tool.
- Warning: Use only discs or accessories rated for a minimum speed of 11,000 r/min or higher.
- Warning: Use only discs or accessories with the correct bore size for the tool's spindle.
- Warning: Use only discs or accessories specifically designed for the material being worked on.
Before Operating the Grinder
- Take your time to assess the work to be done and ensure all necessary precautions have been taken before starting to grind.
- Danger: Remove any adjustment wrench from the tool. Otherwise, it could be ejected forcefully, causing serious injury to the operator.
- Warning: Check that the disc guard is in good condition and securely fastened. The tool must not be used without the guard.
- Warning: Verify that the disc is not cracked or broken. Lightly tap it with a wooden mallet; the sound it emits will indicate if it is cracked.
- Danger: Ensure the switch is OFF before connecting the tool, otherwise it will start unexpectedly, potentially causing serious injury.
- Warning: Turn on the tool for 30 seconds before use to check for significant vibrations or any unusual movement. If detected, disconnect the tool and go to an Authorized TRUPER Service Center.
- Warning: Verify that the disc rotates freely.
- Do not overtighten the disc, as it may break.
- Warning: For working with small pieces, secure them with clamps or vises. Never use your hands for this purpose.
While Operating the Grinder
- Warning: Never start the tool when the disc is in contact with the workpiece.
- Warning: Use safety glasses, gloves, and an apron when operating the tool.
- Warning: Keep the cord or extension cord behind the tool to avoid accidentally damaging them with the disc.
- Warning: Never hold the tool by the power cord; hold it by the body or the auxiliary handle.
- Warning: Hold the tool by the insulated gripping surfaces when performing operations where the cutting tool might come into contact with hidden wiring or its own cord. Contact with a "live" wire will electrify exposed metal parts and deliver an electric shock to the operator.
- Never strike the workpiece with the disc.
- Warning: For best results during grinding, the angle between the disc and the workpiece should be between 15° and 30°.
- Danger: When the disc is spinning, do not use the spindle lock to stop it, as this is very dangerous and can cause serious injury to the user.
- Warning: Do not touch the disc or the workpiece immediately after grinding. Wait for them to cool down before handling. Do not attempt to cool them with water or oil.
- Warning: Verify that the tool is disconnected before checking, adjusting, or changing the disc.
- Danger: Sparks generated during grinding can be hazardous if proper precautions are not taken. Ensure they do not come into contact with skin or flammable substances.

- Insert the inner flange onto the spindle.
- Place the disc onto the inner flange.
- Place the outer flange onto the spindle.
- Press the spindle lock on the grinder head.
- Screw the outer flange with the two-pin wrench until it is securely fastened.
- Danger: The spindle lock should only be used for changing discs, never for stopping a spinning disc.
Mounting Wire Brushes
- To mount this type of accessory, the flanges are not needed; simply screw the brush (not included) directly onto the grinder's spindle.
Start-up
Mounting the Auxiliary Handle
- For safe operation, use the auxiliary handle. Place it in one of the two mounting holes that make your work easier.
Starting the Tool
The angle grinder is a manual power tool used for grinding and cutting steel, pipes, angle iron, bricks, tiles, stone, and/or ceramic pieces; for removing burrs from metal surfaces, for leveling and smoothing welds. If the accessory is changed, the tool can be used for cleaning rust and polishing metal surfaces and other materials.
- To Start: Connect the plug to the outlet. Push the switch forward to start the grinder.
- Continuous Operation: Push the switch all the way until it locks into the notch (C) on the tool's housing.
- To Stop: Push the rear of the switch. It will release and return to the OFF position, stopping the tool's motor.
How to Hold the Tool Properly
Always hold the tool with both hands. One hand on the main handle and the other on the auxiliary handle. Be careful not to obstruct the ventilation slots.
- Grinding: For best results, hold the tool at a 15° to 30° angle to the workpiece. Use forward and backward movements with light pressure at a constant pace. This prevents the workpiece from overheating, discoloration, or creating burrs.
- Cutting: Do not press, tilt, or oscillate the tool. Work at a moderate speed. The disc must always rotate in the opposite direction of the cutting movement; never in the same direction, as there is a risk of the tool being ejected uncontrollably. For cutting hard stones, it is recommended to use a diamond cutting disc.
Useful Tips
- Work with the disc in the correct position to avoid damaging it.
- Apply less force than the tool's weight to the workpiece to avoid overloading and damaging the motor and disc.
- After installing a new disc, allow it to spin freely for at least one minute before use. If it vibrates, replace it immediately.
- Warning: Avoid working with wood or soft metals like lead, as these materials can quickly saturate the disc and render it unusable.
Maintenance
- Always disconnect the tool before cleaning it.
- Never use water or other liquids; use only a brush.
- Clean after each use with compressed air or a brush, paying special attention to the ventilation areas.
- Check that all tool components are securely fastened.
- The housing should not be cracked or damaged.
- Always check that the cord is not cut or frayed.
Repairs
Use only replacement parts and accessories recommended by the manufacturer. If the tool malfunctions, repairs must be carried out by an Authorized TRUPER Service Center.
Changing Brushes
Brushes should be checked periodically and always replaced by an Authorized TRUPER Service Center when worn. After replacement, ensure the new brushes move freely in the brush holder and have the service center run the tool for 5 minutes to properly seat the brushes and commutator.
Only use genuine TRUPER replacement brushes, specifically designed with the appropriate hardness and electrical resistance for each motor type. Off-specification brushes can damage the motor.
When changing brushes, always replace both brushes.
