Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of the PRETUL DIMI-20P cordless impact screwdriver. It covers technical data, safety warnings, operating instructions, maintenance, troubleshooting, and warranty details. Read this manual thoroughly before using the tool to ensure optimal performance, extend its lifespan, and avoid serious risks or injuries.

Keep this manual for future reference. The illustrations in this manual are for reference only and may vary from the real appearance of the tool.

Usage and Care Recommendations

• Use ONLY the provided charger or the one suggested by TRUPER to charge the battery.
• Follow the battery GUIDELINES and charging INSTRUCTIONS (page 6).
• Follow the INSTRUCTIONS for operation and functions (page 7).
• KEEP the tool and charger ventilation slots CLEAN.
• Perform regular MAINTENANCE on your machine (page 9).

Technical Data

The power cable has Y-type cable holders. The tool's construction class is Class III. The charger's construction class is Reinforced Insulation.

❗ WARNING: If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an Authorized TRUPER Service Center to avoid the risk of electric shock or significant accidents. The electrical insulation of this tool is compromised by splashes or liquid spills during its operation. Do not expose it to rain, liquids, and/or moisture.

❗ WARNING: Before gaining access to the terminals, all power circuits must be disconnected.

Power Requirements

❗ WARNING: Tools with double insulation and reinforced insulation eliminate the need of a grounded power cord with three prongs or a grounded power connection.

❗ WARNING: When using an extension cable, verify the gauge is enough for the power that your product needs. A lower gauge cable will cause voltage drop in the line, resulting in power loss and overheating. The following table shows the right size to use depending on cable's length and the ampere capability shown in the tool's nameplate. When in doubt use the next higher gauge.

(*) It is allowed to use it if the extensions themselves have an overcurrent protection device. AWG = American Wire Gauge. Reference: NMX-J-195-ANCE

❗ WARNING: When operating electric tools outdoors, use a grounded extension cord marked as 'Outdoor Use'. These extensions are specially designed for outdoor use and reduce the risk of electrical shock.

General Safety Warnings for Electric Tools

❗ WARNING: Read all safety warnings and all instructions listed below carefully. Failure to follow any of them may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury. Keep the warnings and instructions for future reference.

Work Area

• Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered and dim areas can lead to accidents.
• Do not operate the tool in explosive atmospheres, as in the presence of flammable liquids, gas, or dust. The electric tools produce sparks that can ignite flammable material.
• Keep children and other individuals at a safe distance while using the equipment. Distractions can cause loss of control and lead to accidents.

Electrical Safety

• The tool plug must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way.
• Do not use any type of adapter with grounded electrical tools. Unmodified electrical tools and matching plugs will reduce the risk of electric shock.
• Avoid bodily contact with grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, stoves, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded.
• Water entering an electrical tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
• Do not force the cable. Never use the cable for carrying, lifting, or disconnecting the tool. Keep the cable away from heat, oil, sharp edges, or moving parts. Damaged or tangled cables increase the risk of electric shock.
• When operating an electrical tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use.
• If it is unavoidable to operate the tool in a damp location, use a power source protected by a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI).

Personal Safety

• Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when handling a tool. Do not use it if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment of distraction while handling the tool can cause personal injury.
• Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. The use of safety equipment such as safety glasses, dust mask, slip-resistant shoes, helmet, and ear protection in appropriate conditions significantly reduces the risk of personal injury.
• Avoid accidental starts. Ensure the switch is in the "off" position before connecting to the power source and/or battery or transporting the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or connecting tools with the switch in the "on" position can cause accidents.
• Remove any wrenches or adjusting tool before starting the power tool. Wrenches or tools left on the rotating parts of the tool can cause personal injury.
• Do not exceed your range of motion. Keep both feet firmly planted on the ground and maintain balance.

Tool Use and Care

• Dress appropriately. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts.
• If dust extraction and collection devices are available for the tool, check their connections and use them correctly.
• Do not force the tool. Use the appropriate tool for the task at hand. The right tool performs better and is safer when used at the intended pace.
• Do not use the tool if the switch is not functioning. Any power tool that cannot be turned on or off is dangerous and must be repaired before operation.
• Disconnect the tool from the power source and/or battery before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing it. These measures reduce the risk of an accidental start of the tool.
• Store the tools out of the reach of children and do not allow them to be handled by individuals unfamiliar with the tools or their instructions. Power tools are dangerous in untrained hands.
• Maintain the tool. Ensure that the moving parts are not misaligned or jammed, and that there are no broken parts or other conditions that may affect its operation. Repair any damage before using the tool. Many accidents are caused by inadequate tool maintenance.
• Keep cutting accessories sharp and clean. Well-maintained cutting accessories are less likely to jam and easier to control.
• Use the tool, its components, and accessories in accordance with these instructions and as intended for the type of tool, in appropriate working conditions. Using the tool for applications other than those for which it is designed could cause a hazardous situation.

Service

Repair the tool at a TRUPER Authorized Service Center using only identical replacements parts. This will maintain the safety of the tool.

Use and Care of the Battery-Powered Tool

• Only recharge with the charger specified by PRETUL. The charger included with the machine may pose a fire hazard if used with another battery.
• Use batteries specifically designed for the tool. The use of any other battery may pose a risk of damage and fire.
• When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Short-circuiting between battery terminals can cause burns or fire.
• In abusive conditions, battery liquid may be expelled; avoid contact. If there is accidental contact, rinse with water. If the liquid meets the eyes, seek medical assistance. The expelled liquid can cause irritation or burns.

This tool is in compliance with the Official Mexican Standard (NOM - Norma Oficial Mexicana).

Security Warnings for the Use of Cordless Impact Screwdrivers

Batteries and Charger

• Take your time to assess the task at hand and ensure that all precautions are respected before starting work.
• Adjust the accessory correctly.
• ❗ DANGER Use only batteries designed specifically for the tool. Other batteries may pose risks of injury or fire.
• ❗ DANGER Make sure that the switch is off (OFF position) before placing the battery; otherwise, it may start working unexpectedly, potentially causing serious injuries.
• Connect the charger only to an alternating current (AC) power supply.
• ❗ DANGER Do not use the charger outdoors.
• Respect the "+/-" polarity when charging.
• Never recharge a leaking battery.
• Do not use batteries or the charger for purposes other than those they were designed for.
• Do not modify the battery or charger contacts.
• Do not expose the battery pack to temperatures above 122 °F.
• ❗ DANGER Never expose batteries to fire; they could explode.
• ⚠️ CAUTION Keep batteries away from any metallic objects such as clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or any other object that could cause the terminals to make contact; this could lead to a short circuit that may cause burns or fires.
• ⚠️ CAUTION Under extreme conditions, battery liquid may spill. If this happens, avoid any contact. In case of accidental contact, wash with plenty of water, rinse with lemon juice and vinegar. If the liquid meets the eyes, wash with plenty of water for several minutes and seek immediate medical help. The expelled liquid from the batteries could cause irritation or burns.
• ⚠️ CAUTION To maximize the battery lifespan, make sure to discharge it fully at least once a month. Avoid keeping the battery without charging for more than three months, and always ensure it reaches its full capacity during charging. Before the initial use of the machine, charge the battery for a minimum of 55 minutes.
• Avoid frequent interruptions while screwing to prevent potential damage to the battery.

Choose the Appropriate Accessory

• ⚠️ CAUTION Use only the screwdriver tips recommended by PRETUL.
• Keep the screwdriver tips in good condition. This reduces the load on the tool and extends its lifespan.
• ⚠️ CAUTION Turn off and disconnect the tool before changing the rotation direction, installing, or replacing a tip. Use the auxiliary handles if provided with the tool. Loss of control can cause personal injuries.

When Operating the Screwdriver

• ⚠️ CAUTION This tool is designed to work with screws. IT IS NOT A DRILL.
• This is a light-duty tool, do not use it for removing or installing screws that require a higher torque.
• Do not modify the tool or its accessories in any way.
• Turn on the screwdriver after attaching the tips.
• Be careful when screwing slotted screws as the tool may slip.
• Do not apply excessive force.
• Do not use this tool with one hand.
• After each use, remove tips and extensions and store them properly.

❗ WARNING Choking Hazard! Children can swallow small parts and choke. Keep small parts away from children.

Hold the power tool by the insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the fastener may meet hidden wires or its own power cable. Fasteners that meet an energized cable can turn the metallic parts of the power tool into live components, resulting in an electric shock for the operator.

• Use ear protection when performing services with 85dB noise exceed. Prolonged exposure to noise can cause hearing loss.
• Use a dust mask and dust extraction equipment if necessary. Remember that working with materials such as asbestos, lead-based paints, additives, certain types of wood, metals, or minerals can be highly toxic.
• Use safety glasses.

Battery Charge

1. Connect the charger plug to a 127 V~ outlet (the green light on the charge indicator will turn on).
2. Insert the battery into the charger by sliding it as shown in the picture. The green light will turn off, and the red light should turn on, indicating that it is already charging.
3. When the battery is fully charged, the green light will turn on, and the red light will turn off.
4. Disconnect the charger from the power once the charging is complete.
5. If the red-light flashes, it indicates that the battery temperature is below 32 °F or above 113 °F. Wait until the battery temperature is within the appropriate range before charging.
6. If the battery indicator lights do not turn on after inserting the battery into the charger, it indicates that the battery is defective. Please replace the battery with a new one.

Start Up

Considerations for Battery Use

The battery is shipped in a DISCHARGED state by default. It is necessary to charge it for approximately 55 minutes before use.

The normal charging temperature range is from 32 °F to 113 °F. Charging is automatically suspended outside this range until it reaches the correct temperature. The normal discharge/working temperature range is from 32 °F to 167 °F. If the temperature exceeds 167 °F, the electronic control will shut off power until the tool reaches the optimal temperature range. If the battery voltage drops below the normal level during operation, the tool will stop functioning. Between each charge, allow the charger a 15-minute rest. In a warm environment or after prolonged use, the battery may become too hot to recharge. Allow the battery to cool down before attempting to recharge it.

Installing and Removing the Battery

• To install the battery in the tool handle, align the battery unit with the rails inside the tool handle and slide it into the handle until the battery unit is firmly inserted into the tool; verify that it does not come out on its own.
• To remove the battery, press the release button (C) and firmly pull the battery to remove it from the tool handle.

Selection of Impact Bits and Drill Bits

• Always use the suitable impact bits.
• Use only impact bits that match the sizes depicted in the picture.
• Using incorrect bits may lead to imprecise and inconsistent torque and/or damage to the bolt or nut.

Installation of the Bit

• Place the direction button in the lock position (center).
• Pull the bit holder collar (D) outward from the front side.
• Insert the bit and release the collar.
• Once you hear a "click," the accessory will be securely locked in place.

Removing the Accessory

• Pull the bit holder collar (D) outward from the front of the tool.
• Remove the accessory from the bit holder.

Rotation Direction

• To screw, release the switch and press the rotation direction button on the side where the marks point to the bit holder collar.
• To reverse and unscrew, press it on the opposite side.
• The tool switch locks if the rotation direction button is in the middle position.

⚠️ CAUTION The first time you turn on the tool after reversing rotation, you may hear a "click." This is normal and does not represent any problem.

⚠️ CAUTION To avoid damaging the tool, never reverse the rotation direction while the tool is in operation.

Belt Clip

• The belt clip can be assembled on either side of the tool using only the provided screw, making it suitable for left or right-handed users.
• If you want to move the belt clip to the other side, remove the screw holding the belt clip and reassemble it on the other side. Make sure to tighten the screw securely.
• If you never need the clip, you can remove it from the tool.

Power on and Operation Control

• Press the switch to start operation; release the switch to stop operation.
• The switch allows you to select the appropriate speed for each task. The tighter you press the switch, the faster the tool will operate.
• When releasing the on/off switch, the machine will stop.
• Move the rotation direction button to the middle position to lock the on/off switch.

Screwing - Unscrewing

Consider the following points as the torque may be affected by each of them:

• Voltage: Low voltage from a nearly discharged battery or cell will reduce the torque.
• Accessory size: Not using the correct accessory size will cause a reduction in torque.
• Bolt size: Larger diameter bolts generally require higher tightening torque. The tightening torque will also vary according to length, grade, and the coefficient of friction.
• Bolt: Ensure that all threads are free of rust and other debris to allow proper torque.
• Material: The type of material and surface finish will affect the torque.
• Tightening time: Longer tightening time increases the torque. A tightening time greater than recommended could put too much tension on fasteners or cause them to strip or become damaged.

Maintenance

Cleaning and Maintenance

• Make sure proper cooling of the motor by keeping vents clean and unblocked.
• Regularly inspect all mounting screws and ensure they are properly tightened. If any screws are loose, tighten them immediately.
• Clean the tool with a clean and soft cloth. Do not use alcohol or detergent. Disconnect the tool and remove the battery before cleaning.

Service

Tool service must be performed exclusively at a TRUPER Authorized Service Center. Service and maintenance carried out by unqualified individuals can be dangerous, potentially causing personal harm, and may also void the product warranty.

Environmental Protection

Electrical appliances and batteries must not be disposed off with household waste. Please deliver this appliance, as well as its batteries, with the contacts insulated with adhesive tapes to a recycling center. Check the location of the nearest center in your community.

Warranty Policy

Warranty Duration: 1 year.

Coverage: Parts, components, and workmanship against manufacturing or operating defects, except if used under conditions other than normal; when it was not operated in accordance with the instructive; was altered or repaired by personnel not authorized by TRUPER®.

To make the warranty valid: Present the product, stamped policy or invoice or receipt or voucher, in the establishment where you bought it or in Corregidora 35, Centro, Cuauhtémoc, CDMX, 06060. You can also purchase parts, components, consumables, and accessories there.

It includes the costs of transportation of the product that derive from its fulfillment of its service network.
