Warning:

  • This appliance shall not be used by children from 0 to 8 years.
  • Children aged 8 and above can use this appliance if continuously supervised and instructed on safe usage, understanding the hazards involved.
  • Not for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience/knowledge, unless supervised by a responsible person.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
  • Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children under 8 years.
  • Cleaning and user maintenance must not be done by children.
  • Position the appliance on a stable surface with handles (if any) positioned to avoid spillage of hot liquids.
  • Intended for household and similar applications (staff kitchens, farm houses, hotels, B&Bs).
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid a hazard.
  • The appliance is not intended to be operated by an external timer or separate remote-control system.

  • Use a soft damp cloth to clean food-contact surfaces and remove food residues.
  • Check if the appliance's voltage matches local power voltage before connecting.
  • Connect only to a grounded power outlet. Ensure the plug is firmly inserted.
  • Do not use if the plug, power cord, inner pot, sealing ring, or main body is damaged.
  • Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of the table or worktop.
  • Ensure the heating element, temperature sensor, and outside of the inner pot are clean and dry before plugging in.
  • Do not plug in or press buttons with wet hands.

Caution: The surface of the heating element may be hot after use.

  • Never use accessories or parts from other manufacturers not specifically recommended by Philips; this will invalidate your guarantee.
  • Do not expose the appliance to high temperatures or place it on a hot stove.
  • Do not expose the appliance to direct sunlight.
  • Place the appliance on a stable, horizontal, and level surface.
  • Always place the inner pot in the appliance before plugging in and switching it on.
  • Do not place the inner pot directly over an open fire.
  • Do not use the inner pot if it is deformed.
  • Accessible surfaces may become hot during operation. Exercise caution when touching.
  • Beware of hot steam escaping from the steam vent or when opening the lid. Keep hands and face away.
  • Do not lift or move the appliance while it is operating.
  • Do not exceed the maximum water level indicated in the inner pot to prevent overflow.
  • Do not place cooking utensils inside the pot while cooking, keeping warm, or reheating rice.
  • Only use provided cooking utensils. Avoid sharp utensils.
  • To avoid scratches, do not cook ingredients with crustaceans and shellfish; remove hard shells before cooking.
  • Do not insert metallic objects or alien substances into the steam vent.
  • Do not place magnetic substances on the lid or use the appliance near magnetic substances.
  • Always let the appliance cool down before cleaning or moving it.
  • Always clean the appliance after use. Do not clean in a dishwasher.
  • Always unplug the appliance if not used for a longer period.
  • Improper use, professional/semi-professional use, or failure to follow instructions will invalidate the guarantee and Philips will refuse liability for any damage.

Using the Rice Cooker

Before First Use

  1. Take out all accessories from the inner pot. Remove packaging material.
  2. Clean all parts thoroughly before first use (see "Cleaning and Maintenance" chapter).

Note: Ensure all parts are completely dry before use.

Preparations Before Use

  1. Measure rice using the measuring cup [Figure 1].
  2. Wash rice thoroughly [Figure 2].
  3. Place pre-washed rice in the inner pot.
  4. Add water to the level indicated on the scale inside the inner pot corresponding to the number of cups of rice used [Figure 3]. Smooth the rice surface.
  5. Press the lid release button to open the lid [Figure 4].
  6. Wipe the outside of the inner pot dry [Figure 5], then place it in the rice cooker [Figure 6]. Ensure proper contact with the heating element.
  7. Close the lid [Figure 7] and plug the power cord into the socket [Figure 8].

Note:

  • Each cup of uncooked rice typically yields 3 cups of cooked rice. Do not exceed inner pot quantities.
  • Inner pot markings are indications; adjust water level for different rice types or preferences. Unstable voltage may cause overflow.
  • Alternatively, use a 1:1-1.2 ratio of rice to water. Do not exceed inner pot quantities.
  • Use a separate container to wash rice to protect the non-stick coating.
  • Ensure the outside of the inner pot is dry and clean, with no foreign residue on the heating element or magnetic switch.

Cooking Rice

  1. Follow steps in "Preparations Before Use".
  2. Press the Cook button (Cook); the cook indicator lights up [Figure 9].
  3. When cooking is finished, the cook indicator turns off.
  4. The rice cooker automatically switches to keep-warm mode; the keep warm (Warm) indicator lights up [Figure 10].

Note:

  • Do not exceed indicated volume or maximum water level to prevent overflow.
  • Do not open the lid immediately after entering keep-warm mode. For large quantities of rice, ensure it stays in keep-warm mode for 15 minutes.

Steaming

  1. Measure water using the measuring cup [Figure 11].
  2. Pour water into the inner pot [Figure 12].
  3. Place the steam basket into the inner pot [Figure 13].
  4. Add food into the steam basket [Figure 14].
  5. Close the lid and plug in the power cord.
  6. Press the Cook button (Cook); the cook indicator lights up [Figure 9].
  7. When steaming is finished, pull up the control lever.
  8. The rice cooker switches to keep-warm mode; the keep warm (Warm) indicator lights up [Figure 10].

Note:

  • Use a kitchen glove or cloth, as the plate and steam basket will be very hot.
  • Rice can be cooked while steaming. Do not exceed volume or immerse the steam basket in water to prevent overflow.
  • Water level can be adjusted as needed.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Note: Unplug the rice cooker before cleaning. Wait until it has cooled down sufficiently.

Interior

  • Inside of the lid and main body: Wipe with a wrung-out damp cloth. Ensure all food residues are removed.
  • Heating element: Wipe with a wrung-out damp cloth. Remove food residues with a damp cloth or toothpicks.

Exterior

  • Surface of the lid and outside of the main body: Wipe with a cloth dampened with soapy water.
  • Control panel: Use only a soft, dry cloth. Ensure all residues around control buttons are removed.

Accessories

  • Rice&Soup ladle, inner pot, steam basket, steam vent cap, detachable inner lid: Soak in hot water and clean with a sponge.

Recycling

Do not dispose of this product with normal household waste at the end of its life. Hand it in at an official collection point for recycling to help preserve the environment. Follow your country's rules for separate collection of electrical and electronic products. Correct disposal prevents negative consequences for the environment and human health.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter problems, check the following points before requesting service. Contact the Philips Consumer Care Center in your country if the problem persists.

Problem Solution
Lights on the buttons do not go on. There is a connection problem. Check if the power cord is connected properly and the plug is firmly inserted. If the light is defective, take the appliance to a Philips dealer or authorized service center.
The rice is not cooked. There is not enough water. Add water according to the scale inside the inner pot. Ensure you pressed the control key down. Make sure the heating element and outside of the inner pot are free of foreign residue before switching on.
The rice is not well cooked. Add more water. If the heating element is damaged or the inner pot is deformed, take it to a Philips dealer or authorized service center.
The cooker does not switch to keep warm mode automatically in "Rice Cooking" mode. The temperature control may be defective. Take the appliance to a Philips dealer or authorized service center.
The rice is scorched. You have not rinsed the rice properly. Rinse rice until water runs clear.
Water spills out of the rice cooker during cooking. Ensure water level does not exceed the indicated scale for the number of cups of rice used. Do not exceed the next level on the scale, as this may cause overflow.
Rice smells bad after cooking. Clean the inner pot with detergent and warm water. After cooking, ensure the steam vent cap, inner lid, and inner pot are cleaned thoroughly.
