Alcatel E260/E260 Duo/E260 Trio User Guide
Introduction
This guide provides instructions for the Alcatel E260, E260 Duo, and E260 Trio cordless phones. It covers initial setup, key functions, settings customization, and important safety and environmental information.
Before First Use
Connecting your phone:
- Connect the telephone line to the wall socket and the power adapter to an electrical outlet.
- Insert the batteries into the handset and place it on the base to charge.
- Charge batteries for 15 hours before first use.
- Use only the supplied power adapter and rechargeable batteries.
Upon first power-up, a welcome message will appear. Select your country and confirm. To change the language, refer to Table 1.
Handset and Base Station Keys
The handset and base station feature several keys for operation:
- 1. MENU/OK: Accesses menus and confirms selections.
- 2. Back/Correction/Intercom: Returns to the previous screen, corrects input, or initiates an intercom call.
- 3. Navigation/Call Log/Volume Up: Navigates menus, accesses the call log, and increases volume.
- 4. Navigation/Volume Down: Navigates menus and decreases volume.
- 5. Talk/Handsfree: Answers calls and activates the handsfree function.
- 6. Hang-up/Exit: Ends calls and exits menus.
- 7. Recall (Flash): Accesses operator services.
- 8. Phonebook: Accesses the phonebook.
- 9. Call Block: Activates the call blocking feature.
- 10. Redial List: Accesses the list of recently dialed numbers.
- 11. Paging: Locates the handset or starts the registration procedure.
Note: Features marked with an asterisk (*) are subject to subscription and availability from your fixed line operator.
Display Icons
The display shows various icons:
- Battery Level: Indicates battery status (full ?, mid ?, empty ?).
- Call Indicator: Shows an external call is in progress or on hold. Blinks for incoming calls.
- Voice Mail: Indicates a new voice message.
- Missed Calls: Indicates new missed calls.
- Alarm: Displays when the alarm clock is active.
- Handsfree: Displays when handsfree is activated.
- Ringer Off: Displays when the ringer volume is turned off.
- In Range: Indicates the handset is registered and within range of the base station.
- Searching: Icon blinks when the handset is out of range or searching for the base.
General Settings
Customize your phone's preferences:
- Handset Settings (Alarm, Ring, Language, Date & Time): Navigate to HS SETTINGS.
- Base Settings (PIN, Flash Time): Navigate to BS SETTINGS.
To change language or flash time:
- Navigate to HS SETTINGS > LANGUAGE and select your desired language.
- Navigate to BS SETTINGS > FLASH TIME and select SHORT, MEDIUM, or LONG.
To register a handset:
- On the base, press and hold the PAGING key (number 11) for 10 seconds.
- On the handset to be registered, navigate to REGISTRATION, enter the default PIN (0000), and confirm. The handset will pair in seconds.
Using the Phone
- Receive and End a Call: Press the TALK/HANDSFREE key (5) to answer, and the HANG-UP/EXIT key (6) to end.
- Make a Call: Dial the number and press TALK/HANDSFREE (5), or press TALK/HANDSFREE first then dial. Calls can also be made from the redial list, call log, direct memories, or phonebook.
- Handsfree: Press the TALK/HANDSFREE key (5) during a call to activate/deactivate handsfree.
- Internal Calls: To call another handset, press the INTERCOM key (2) or navigate to the handset number. To ring all handsets, select CALL ALL.
- Conference Call: During an external call, initiate an intercom call to another handset. Once answered, press and hold the TALK/HANDSFREE key (5) on the calling handset to establish a three-party conference.
Phonebook and Direct Memories
- Register in Phonebook (50 entries): Navigate to PHONEBOOK > ADD, enter contact name and number, and save.
- Direct Memories (Keys 1, 2, & 3): Navigate to HS SETTINGS > DIRECT MEM, select a key, enter the number, and save.
Note: The phonebook is shared across all handsets in Duo and Trio models.
Call Block Overview
This phone features a Call Block function to prevent unwanted calls. The default setting is OFF.
- OFF: Call Block is disabled.
- ON: Call Block is enabled. Numbers in the blacklist will not ring. Numbers can be added to the blacklist during or after a call.
- ANONYM: Blocks calls without displayed numbers (private, international, etc.). This can be enabled independently.
How to block an incoming call:
- When the phone rings, press the CALL BLOCK key (9) before answering. This terminates the call and offers to add the number to the blacklist. Confirm the addition.
To enable MANUAL mode:
- Navigate to CALL BLOCK > BLOCK SETTINGS and select ON. The call block icon will appear on the LCD.
To add numbers to the Blacklist:
- In idle mode, navigate to BLOCK SETTINGS > BLOCKLIST > ADD, enter the number, and save.
- Numbers can also be added from the incoming or outgoing call lists.
To edit or delete numbers from the Blacklist:
- Navigate to BLOCK SETTINGS, select EDIT or DELETE, choose the number, and confirm.
- To delete all numbers, select DELETE ALL and confirm.
To block Private Calls:
- Navigate to CALL BLOCK > BLOCK ANONYM and select PRIVATE. The privacy icon will be displayed.
To block All Anonymous Calls:
- Navigate to CALL BLOCK > BLOCK ANONYM and select ALL. The anonymous call icon will be displayed.
To disable Anonymous Call Blocking:
- Navigate to CALL BLOCK > BLOCK ANONYM and select OFF.
Troubleshooting
If a problem occurs, remove batteries from handsets for 1 minute, disconnect and reconnect the power to the base, then reinsert batteries. For more information, visit www.alcatel-home.com.
Safety
- This phone is not designed for emergency calls during power outages.
- Do not use the phone near gas leaks or potential explosion hazards.
- Do not open the device or power supply to avoid electric shock.
- Do not attempt to open batteries as they contain hazardous chemicals.
- Place the phone in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight.
- Keep the phone at least 1 meter away from other electrical appliances to avoid radio interference.
Environment
Dispose of this electronic appliance separately from household waste. Follow local recycling guidelines.
