Installation

1. Install the electrostatic sticker

Park your car in a safe area and turn off the engine. Apply the electrostatic sticker to the recommended area on the windshield, as shown in the figure. Clean the windshield and remove any air bubbles between the sticker and the glass.

Diagram description: An illustration of a car's interior windshield. A sticker is shown being applied to the upper center area (labeled '1'). A car charger is depicted plugged into the cigarette lighter socket (labeled '2').

ℹ️ Note: Do not attach the dash cam with the sticker to the windshield before camera calibration to ensure the AI feature works properly.

2. Connect the power supply

Connect the USB cable to the micro USB port of the Dash Cam. Route the cable along the edge of the windshield, tucking it into seams (using the included Crowbar), and run it to the car charger. Ensure the cable is kept away from the airbag area.

Insert the car charger into your vehicle's cigarette lighter socket and connect the Dash Cam to the car charger.

3. Camera Calibration

Find a suitable position and angle for the dash cam. Start the car engine (do not install while driving) to power on the device. Navigate to System Settings → AI → Camera calibration. Align the vertical line to the center of the road and the horizontal line to the vanishing point of the road on the preview screen. Ensure the dash cam does not obstruct the driver's view.

Diagram description: Three calibration views. The first shows a correct alignment with a green checkmark, indicating the vertical line is centered and the horizontal line aligns with the road's vanishing point. The second and third diagrams show incorrect alignments with red 'X' marks: one where the horizontal line is too low, and another where the camera is tilted. A fourth diagram shows the engine cover obstructing the view.

ℹ️ Note: AI accuracy is significantly affected by the installation position. Please install carefully.

4. Attach the Dash Cam

Remove the protective sticker from the dash cam bracket. Attach the dash cam to the center of the electrostatic sticker (the 'sweet spot' identified in step 3). Press the bracket mount firmly to ensure the heat-resistant adhesive makes good contact. Lock the bracket to the dash cam; you should hear a click when it's in place.

5. Check and adjust the dash cam angle

Ensure the dash cam is installed at the correct angle as determined in step 3. Adjust the camera angle up or down as needed, using the preview screen to confirm the camera is facing correctly.

Features

ℹ️ Note: Not all features are listed in this manual.

Parking Mode

When the car engine is turned off, the Dash Cam automatically powers off in 10 seconds and enters Parking Mode. If a shock or crash is detected, the G-Sensor activates the Dash Cam to record a 16-second and a 60-second video, after which it re-enters Parking Mode.

Time Lapse

Time Lapse recording captures frames at a lower frequency than normal playback. This results in time appearing to move faster when the recording is played back. This feature can operate for up to 24 hours after the ignition is turned off.

ℹ️ Note: This function requires a hardwire kit (not included) for a constant power supply.

Emergency Recordings

A 16-second and a 60-second video are captured when the G-Sensor is activated due to sharp turns or sudden stops. When these recordings fill 30% of the eMMC space, the oldest recordings are overwritten by new ones.

Travel Log

The Travel Log records your driving path. Videos and photos store GPS information and display the route in your album. Your journey data can be stored in your personal cloud account.

ℹ️ Note: No personal data is collected. All GPS log data is stored anonymously in US Amazon Web Service.

Firmware/APP Update

APP Update

When a new app version is released, your mobile system and the app will notify you. Follow the prompts to update.

Firmware Update

Firmware updates can be performed Over-The-Air (OTA). Open the app, connect to the dash cam, navigate to Settings → Firmware Update, and follow the on-screen prompts to upgrade.

ℹ️ Note: Do not power off the Dash Cam during the update. It will restart automatically after a successful update. Contact support immediately if the update fails.

Troubleshooting

Scenario Malfunction Symptom Root Cause/Solution
Installation Image blur 1. Ensure the lens protector is removed.
2. If the windshield reflects, slightly adjust the camera angle to avoid reflection.
Day and night image quality differs a lot Normally, window film transparency is between 68%-80%. This affects the recording result.
Power disconnect frequently Due to different car models, adjust the car charger angle to avoid a loose connection.
Start up Unable to start 1. Verify the car charger indicator light is on; if not, reinstall the car charger.
2. The built-in battery might be low; connect the USB cable to a power source.
3. Press and hold the power button for 4 seconds to shut down, then press it again to reboot.
Recording Welcome screen stops, screen black out, button does not work Press and hold the power button for 4 seconds to shut down. After shutdown, press the power button to reboot.
Did not start recording automatically after start up 1. Reboot the dash cam.
2. Format the built-in eMMC storage.

2. Force close and restart the APP.
3. Turn OFF Mobile data. When your smartphone connects to your dash cam, it creates a new Wi-Fi network. Some iOS/Android versions may stop using this network if it doesn't detect internet (which your dash cam won't provide). Turning off data, or sometimes enabling airplane mode then Wi-Fi, can fix connection issues.
Cannot playback the recorded video on the mobile phone This might be related to the player or mobile phone's system. Try playing back on your PC.
Takes too long to connect 1. If many Wi-Fi SSIDs are nearby, connection may fail due to signal interference. Use the dash cam in a less interfered environment.
2. The mobile phone system might be overloaded; close other apps or reboot the phone.
Forget APP connection password 1. The default password is "1234567890".
2. Find your password under "Connect via Wi-Fi".

Precautions

⚠️ Warning: Do not expose this product to rain, moisture, or water under any circumstances, as this may result in the risk of electric shock or fire.

CAUTION:

To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not perform any servicing other than what is contained in the instruction manual unless you are qualified to do so. Have the unit serviced by a qualified service technician if:

LCD:

A Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screen is a multilayer complex component containing 384,000 pixels. Pixels can fail during normal product life; 1 pixel failure per year of operation is considered normal and not a cause for concern.

Battery:

G Sensor:

The G Sensor measures forces exerted upon the Dash Cam, referencing 'g' as the nominal force on Earth's surface. It triggers recording protection if a pre-determined force threshold is exceeded. G Sensor protection can be adversely affected if the Dash Cam is not mounted vertically. G Force information is derived via a sampling method and may not be totally accurate at all times. Thresholds for video protection are based on values exceeded between successive samples across three G Sensor axes. If automatic G Sensor protection does not trigger during an event, the EMER Video button can be pressed to protect the file. File protection can also be done via the Miofive App for applicable Wi-Fi models.

GPS:

GPS data has been simplified to reduce track points. While efforts are made to ensure accuracy, Miofive makes no representations regarding the accuracy, currency, completeness, or suitability of the GPS data for any purpose and accepts no liability for its use. The user acknowledges that the Dataset may not be error-free and is used at the user's sole risk. Information may change without notice.

Magnet Warnings:

The Dash Cam contains magnets that may interfere with internal medical devices (e.g., pacemakers, insulin pumps) and other electronic devices (e.g., hard drives, bank/credit cards). Keep devices with magnets away from such medical devices and use caution near other electronic devices or cards.

Windshield Mounting Legal Restriction:

Check state and local laws regarding windshield mounting before use, as some laws prohibit or restrict object placement. It is the user's responsibility to comply with all applicable laws and ordinances. Mount the Dash Cam where it does not obstruct the driver's view. Miofive is not responsible for fines, penalties, or damages incurred due to non-compliance with laws or ordinances.

Camera Legal Requirements:

In some jurisdictions, recording or publicly displaying images of people or vehicles may be an invasion of privacy. It is your responsibility to know and comply with applicable privacy laws. Video recordings are intended for personal use only. Publication of recordings on platforms like YouTube is subject to data protection legislation. For commercial use (e.g., truck use), CCTV regulations also apply, requiring labeling and informing authorities about data control.

CHOKING HAZARD:

Some products may contain small components that can be swallowed. Keep out of reach of children.
