Cardo Scala Rider G9x Quick Guide

This quick guide covers basic functions and commands for your Scala Rider G9x. It is intended for quick reference and does not replace the full user manual.

1. General Functions

2. Voice Control Commands

If you do not have an ongoing call, press [Voice Control Button] or say a word to activate VOX. Then, speak a voice command from the table below:

3. Main Unit Status Light

4. Settings Menu

  • Enter Menu: In standby, press both [Volume Up Button] + [Volume Down Button] for 2s.
  • Exit Menu: Press [Voice Control Button] for 2s.

5. Voice Control Settings (VOX)

  • VOX Sensitivity (Default: Normal): Adjust via Settings Menu or Cardo Community. High: Select if difficult to activate VOX. Low: Select if too easy to activate VOX.
  • VOX Operation Mode: VOX can be set to activate Voice Control (default) or to initiate an Intercom call. Change this setting via the Cardo Community platform.
  • Activate/Deactivate VOX (Only for Intercom/Voice Control): In standby, press [Mobile Phone Button] + [Voice Control Button] for 2s. Activated: Blue flash for 2s. Deactivated: Red flash for 2s.

6. Pair and Use Mobile Phone, GPS or MP3

  • To pair Bluetooth Channel 1: In standby, press [Mobile Phone Button] for 5s.
  • To pair Bluetooth Channel 2: In standby, press [Voice Control Button] for 5s.

7. Make and Receive Phone Calls

**To use the Hot-Dial function, you must first configure phone numbers via Cardo Community.

***If you have two mobile phones directly connected to your G9x, you must set one of them as default for outgoing calls.

8. Music Playback via A2DP

9. FM Radio

Note: Scala Rider G9x PowerSet™ units are already factory paired!

Intercom Modes

  • Three-way intercom: Rider 1 connected to Passenger 2 (Channel A) and Rider 3 (Channel B).
  • Four-way intercom: Rider 1 connected to Passenger 2 (Channel A). Rider 1 connected to Rider 3 (Channel B). Passenger 2 connected to Passenger 4 (Channel A). Rider 3 connected to Passenger 4 (Channel A).

Calling "1+8" Intercom Buddies

  • VOX: Say a word or press [Voice Control Button]. When you hear the voice prompt tone, say the name of a "1+8" intercom buddy.
  • Manual Mode: Press [Mobile Phone Button] for 2s. Hear the names of all paired "1+8" buddies. When you hear the name of the buddy you want to call, press [Voice Control Button] or say a word aloud. To cancel the playback of the "1+8" buddy list: Press [Mobile Phone Button] for 2s.

Calling Intercom Channels "A" and "B" (2 and 3-way)

  • VOX: Say a word into the microphone. When you hear the voice prompt tone, say "Call Intercom" to initiate an intercom call with "A" and/or "B" (depending on who is present). VOX intercom calls with only "A" or "B" will automatically end after 30 seconds of silence.
  • Manual Mode: Use this to initiate intercom calls with either:
    • Channel "A": Press [Channel A Button].
    • Channel "B": Press [Channel B Button].
    To end a call, press [Channel A Button] or [Channel B Button]. If you are already in an intercom call with "A" or "B", you can add another rider ("A" or "B") by pressing the other channel button, or by another rider joining the intercom call in the same way.

11. Click-to-Link Intercom Mode (CTL)

12. Troubleshooting

  • Restart: If your Scala Rider stops responding, restart it by turning it off and then on again (press [Mobile Phone Button] for 2s).
  • Reset pairing (Deletes all paired devices): 1. In standby, press [Mobile Phone Button] + [Channel A Button] for 5s until the LED flashes Red/Blue. 2. Press [Mobile Phone Button] for 2s until the LED flashes Purple 5 times.
