Structure Diagram and Components
The dryer vent unit consists of the following main components:
- Upper cover
- Plastic buckle
- Filter cotton
- Water tank
The diagram shows these components assembled into a single unit.
Installation and Instruction
Location: Ensure that the dryer vent is located on a vertical wall and close to the electric clothes dryer. Avoid venting to areas such as the attic, eaves, ridge vents, or crawl space.
Height: Install the vent at a height that is easy for users to operate for easy cleaning and maintenance.
Duct type: It is recommended to use any UL certified dryer transition pipe; do not use vinyl hose.
Connection: It is recommended to use a metal 90-degree elbow (also known as a "right angle elbow") on the back of the dryer to prevent the transition hose from being squeezed against the wall. This elbow needs to be purchased separately.
Note: The exhaust pipe can be installed using a hose clamp or torsion spring, depending on the actual situation.
Installation Steps:
- Install the filter cotton onto the upper cover first, then press the metal filter screen over the filter cotton. [Visual: Shows filter cotton being placed into the upper cover, followed by the metal screen being placed on top.]
- Tighten the screw on the hose clamp and secure the exhaust pipe to the upper cover. [Visual: Shows a hose clamp being tightened around the exhaust pipe where it connects to the upper cover.]
- The maximum capacity of the tank is 1.5L. It is recommended to add 0.4L of water for use. [Visual: Shows water being poured into the water tank.]
- Install the lid with the exhaust pipe onto the tank, and ensure that the two clips on the lid are tight on the tank. [Visual: Shows the lid assembly being attached to the water tank, with arrows indicating the clips securing it.]
- Use screws to secure the plastic buckle (mounting bracket) to the wall near the dryer. It is recommended to measure the length of the exhaust pipe purchased to ensure it can connect to the dryer from this point. [Visual: Shows screws being used to attach the plastic buckle to a wall surface, with an arrow indicating the mounting direction.]
- Insert the tank connector into the groove of the plastic clip to complete the fixing of the dryer vent. [Visual: Shows the main unit being attached to the wall-mounted plastic buckle.]
- Connect the other end of the exhaust pipe to the dryer and clamp it with a hose clamp. [Visual: Shows the exhaust pipe connected to the back of a dryer unit and secured with a hose clamp.]
- If your dryer is close to the wall, it is recommended to purchase and install a metal 90-degree elbow on the dryer to avoid damage and poor exhaust due to folding of the exhaust pipe. [Visual: Shows a dryer positioned close to a wall, illustrating the problem of a bent exhaust pipe and the solution using a 90-degree elbow.]
Maintenance and Cleaning
- Remove the upper cover and clean the built-in filter cotton and filter screen.
- Clean the filter screen with a brush once every 3 to 5 batches of clothes have been dried.
- Replace the filter cotton or use a vacuum cleaner to suck away the lint on the cotton after every 5 to 8 times of drying clothes. Do not wash the filter cotton with water.
- If there is water in the tank, drain the water from the tank and wash the cotton in the tank every 3-5 times you dry your clothes.
- If the dryer vent is not used for a long time, do not add water to the tank.
