2. Safety Instructions
A) General
The BRConnect must only be operated in accordance with its intended use and specified technical data. Users must adhere to all instructions from BRC Solar GmbH and warning notices on the BRConnect. Warning notices must remain legible and unaltered. Local laws, regulations, directives, and standards take precedence for operation, installation, uninstallation, and maintenance. The safety instructions are supplementary.
B) Electrical Specialists
All product-related work must be performed by qualified electricians who comply with national and regional regulations. Follow all instructions carefully. Electrical work must adhere to the 5 safety rules of electrical engineering. Only install an intact BRConnect with all included accessories, especially the power supply. Do not modify the BRConnect. Ensure string cables are voltage-free during assembly to prevent electric shocks.
C) End User
End users must not perform any work on the BRConnect themselves and must not open the housing. Keep the instruction manual accessible for all product-related activities.
3. Product Overview
A) Assembly
The BRConnect gateway is designed for data monitoring of photovoltaic systems at module level, in conjunction with the M600-M and BRC Power Manager. Data from the M600-M is transmitted via powerline communication through DC cables to the BRConnect for processing. The end user can view this data via the BRC Power Manager App.
A fixed installation by a qualified electrician is required. Observe the specified technical data. The BRConnect has an IP40 protection rating and is intended for indoor use, away from liquids, humidity, heat sources, and direct sunlight. It operates at ambient temperatures of -20°C to +55°C and is approved for operation up to 2,000m above sea level. It features Ethernet and WiFi interfaces (WiFi 4; 802.11n, 2.4 GHz).
Product Components:
- 1 LED: Indicates status.
- 2 24V DC connection: For power input.
- 3 Reset button: For resetting the device.
- 4 LAN Ethernet socket: For wired network connection.
- 5 Cable bushing of string 1 (S1-, S1+): For connecting string 1 cables.
- 6 Cable bushing of string 2 (S2-, S2+): For connecting string 2 cables.
- 7 Cable bushing of string 3 (S3-, S3+): For connecting string 3 cables.
B) Intended Use
The BRConnect is a gateway for monitoring photovoltaic systems at module level. It requires a fixed installation and is intended for indoor use. Improper use may void the manufacturer's warranty.
4. Installation
- Attach the wall mount: Mark the position, drill 4 holes (6mm), sink dowel pins, and mount the wall mount with 4 screws, washers, and a screwdriver.
- Clip BRConnect onto the wall mount: Press evenly on both sides until a click is heard.
- Pass string cable through cable bushing: Ensure the string cable is voltage-free.
- Connect 24V and Ethernet cables: Observe correct connection arrangement for string cables. Connect the string cable to the inverter with the DC switch off, ensuring correct polarity. Connect the string cable to the PV system and then switch on the DC-side of the inverter. The BRConnect LED will briefly light up blue, then flash slowly blue, waiting for Bluetooth connection.
5. Power Manager App
- Install the App: Available on the App Store and Google Play Store.
- Register and Log in: Click the plus symbol to set up a new plant; an internet connection is required.
- Fill in general and owner information.
- Enter solar module and inverter data: Select if a battery storage system or wallbox is integrated.
- Create a string plan: Use drag & drop to place optimizers.
- Connect BRConnect to the internet: Via WiFi or Ethernet. The app will search for available optimizers. The BRConnect automatically waits for a Bluetooth connection after starting. Select and connect the BRConnect via the app.
6. Operation and Maintenance
Clean the BRConnect with a dry, lint-free cloth only. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents. The BRConnect is maintenance-free. Contact the support team if a problem persists.
7. Replacement and Repair
Dismounting the BRConnect should be done in reverse order of installation. Ensure cables are voltage-free. Disconnect the power supply and remove the Ethernet cable. Release string cables from bushings and remove the BRConnect from the wall mount. Repairs are not permitted.
8. Disposal
Transport packaging is recyclable. Dispose of the BRConnect and its components as electronic waste according to applicable laws in your country.
9. Product Compliance and Contact
BRC Solar GmbH declares that the BRConnect complies with basic requirements of national directives when installed and used as intended. A full declaration of conformity is available on the BRC Solar GmbH website (www.brc-solar.de).
