3. Product Overview
A) Construction
The BRConnect features:
- LED indicator
- 24V DC connection
- Reset button
- LAN Ethernet socket
- Cable bushings for strings 1, 2, and 3
B) Intended Use
The BRConnect gateway, in conjunction with the M600-M and BRC Power Manager, monitors photovoltaic system data at the module level. Data from the M600-M is communicated via powerline communication through DC cables to the BRConnect for processing. End users can view this data via the BRC Power Manager App. The product requires fixed installation by a qualified electrician. It has an IP40 protection rating and is intended for indoor use, away from liquids, humidity, heat sources, and direct sunlight. It operates within ambient temperatures of -20°C to +55°C and is approved for operation up to 2,000m above sea level. The BRConnect has Ethernet and WiFi interfaces (WiFi 4; 802.11n, 2.4 GHz). Improper use voids the warranty.
C) LED Signal Overview
- No light: No power or defective. Check power supply or contact support.
- Lights up blue: Visible immediately after startup (approx. 7-8 seconds), then switches to Bluetooth connection mode. Returns to normal state after successful setup.
- Slowly flashes blue: Waiting for Bluetooth connection. Open the Power Manager App and follow instructions. Flashing frequency: 1 second on, 1 second off.
- Lights up green: Bluetooth connection established. Set string information and network settings in the Power Manager App or connect via Ethernet.
- Slowly flashes green: Establishing connection to local network. Check local network connection if status persists. Flashing frequency: 1 second on, 1 second off.
- Quickly flashes green: Network connection active, establishing connection to cloud. Check internet connection if status persists. Flashing frequency: 200ms on, 200ms off.
- Lights up yellow: Warning, functionality limited. Disconnect and reconnect power supply for restart. Contact support if the signal persists.
- Lights up red: Error, BRConnect may be defective. Disconnect and reconnect power supply for restart. Contact support if the signal persists.
4. Installation
- Attach the wall mount: Mark position, drill 4 holes (6mm), insert dowel pins, and mount using 4 screws, washers, and a screwdriver.
- Clip BRConnect onto the wall mount: Press evenly on both sides until a click is heard.
- Route string cables through cable bushings: Ensure cables are voltage-free. Pay attention to correct connection arrangement to avoid errors. Note the sticker on the top. Connect string cables to the inverter with the DC switch off, observing correct polarity. Connect to the PV system and then switch on the inverter's DC side.
- Connect 24V and Ethernet cables: The BRConnect LED will briefly light up blue, then slowly flash blue, waiting for Bluetooth connection.
5. Power Manager App
- Install the App: Available on the App Store and Google Play Store.
- Register and Log In: Click the plus symbol (+) to set up a new plant. An internet connection is required.
- Fill in General Information: Provide plant name, alias name, address, and owner details.
- Enter Module and Inverter Data: Specify solar module and inverter details, and indicate if a battery storage system or wallbox is integrated.
- Create String Plan: Use drag and drop to create the string plan and place optimizers.
- Connect to Internet: Connect the BRConnect via WiFi or Ethernet. The app will search for available optimizers.
- Complete Setup: The BRConnect automatically waits for Bluetooth connection after startup. Select and connect to the BRConnect via the app.
Video instructions for assembly and app setup are available.
6. Operation and Maintenance
Clean the BRConnect only with a dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents. The BRConnect is maintenance-free. Contact support for persistent issues.
7. Replacement and Repair
Dismounting steps are the reverse of installation (see Chapter 4). Switch off the inverter's DC side, ensure string cables are voltage-free, disconnect the power supply and Ethernet cable, release string cables from bushings, and dismount the BRConnect from the wall mount. Repairs must not be carried out.
8. Disposal
Dispose of transport packaging through local waste systems. Dispose of the BRConnect and its components as electronic waste in accordance with applicable country laws.
