Front Bumper Removal/Installation

Caution: Affix the protective tape to the position (vehicle body side) shown in the figure to prevent scratches and damage.

Procedure Overview

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the removal and installation of the front bumper assembly on Mazda vehicles, referencing specific engine types.

Step 1: Battery Disconnection

Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to the relevant procedures for specific engine models: NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5], NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5 (WITHOUT i-stop)], or NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2].

Step 2: Remove Screws A

Locate and remove all fasteners labeled as SCREW A. These are typically found on the sides of the front bumper area, near the wheel wells.

Step 3: Remove Fasteners B

Step 4: Remove Screw C

Step 6: Remove Fasteners E

Step 7: Remove Fasteners F

Slightly bend back the front undercover (identified as No.1) and remove all fasteners labeled as FASTENER F.

Step 8: Remove Fresh-Air Duct

Remove the fresh-air duct. Refer to the relevant procedures for specific engine models: INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-D 2.2] or INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5].

Step 9: Remove Set Plate

Remove the set plate. Refer to the SET PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION procedure.

Step 10: Remove Screws G

Locate and remove all fasteners labeled as SCREW G.

Step 11: Remove Fasteners H

Locate and remove all fasteners labeled as FASTENER H. These are typically found on the sides of the bumper, near the headlights.

Step 12: Detach Bumper from Grommets

Step 13: Detach Bumper from Slider and Remove Tabs I

Pull the front bumper end in the direction indicated by [arrow 2] to detach the front bumper from the front bumper slider, while simultaneously removing tabs labeled TAB I.

Caution: The front bumper and front bumper slider are engaged firmly. If they are disengaged forcibly, the bumper could fall and be damaged. Perform the servicing carefully when disengaging the front bumper from the front bumper slider. When disengaging the front bumper from the front bumper slider, the front bumper could fall and be damaged. Support the front bumper so that it does not fall.

Step 14: Remove Bumper and Detach Guides J

Pull the front bumper in the direction indicated by [arrow 3] and remove it while detaching guides labeled GUIDE J.

Step 15-17: Disconnect Connectors and Hoses
