Usage
IMPORTANT: If the discharged battery is frozen, it should be thawed first before attempting to start.
- Ensure that the ignition is switched off on the car with the discharged battery.
- Start the assisting car and allow its engine to idle.
- Connect the red positive cable to the positive terminal on the battery of the assisting car, and then to the positive terminal on the discharged battery.
- Connect the black negative cable to the negative terminal on the battery of the assisting car, and then to a suitable earth point on the discharged car. This can be an actual earth point, an earth wire, or an unpainted screw or similar.
- NOTE: In cars where the battery is located under the luggage compartment, there may be a positive connection in the engine compartment. This is often covered by a black cap marked with a plus sign.
- Start the car with the discharged battery and let it idle for a few minutes.
- Disconnect the cables in the reverse order.
