Step 1: Download the Yale Access App

Create an account

Download the Yale Access App from the App Store or Google Play.

If you already use the August App, use the same username and password.

Step 2: Unlock Safe Using Key

Open the door and leave it open until setup is complete.

When the key is used to unlock, it must also be used to lock.

Step 3: Insert Batteries

Open the battery compartment and insert 4 AA batteries. Reinstall the cover.

Step 4: Add Safe to the Yale Access App

Set up Smart Safe

Tap "Set up a device" from the app menu. When asked, scan the Yale QR code on the inside of your safe door.

Once batteries are inserted, you have 10 minutes to complete this step. If your app doesn't find the safe, press and hold the reset button (5 seconds) on the inside of the safe door.

Set up Connect*

Note the serial number located on the back of the Connect device. Plug the Connect device into an INDOOR outlet within 10 feet of the Smart Safe.

For best connectivity, ensure the Connect bridge is in the line of sight of the front of the safe.

*Connect WiFi Bridge included with select models.

Step 5: Create Entry Codes

Once added to the Yale Access App, you can create and delete entry codes or share app access by tapping the Guest icon in the bottom menu.

Step 6: Mount Safe For Added Security (Optional)

There are 8 mounting hole locations on the Smart Safe. Use the included mounting template for guidance to secure the safe to the wall, shelf, or floor.

Using Your Smart Safe

Note: Safe can always be opened with the key or with a 9V battery and valid code.

9 Volt Battery Back-up: Use an alkaline battery. Hold the battery to the terminals to quickly recharge.

Note: When the safe is paired to the app, the Factory Reset must be done from the app. During a factory reset, the safe will be unlocked.

Locking Safe

Close Safe Door. Press any key to lock the safe.

Unlocking Safe

Enter valid 4-6 digit code. Press ✓.

Settings Definitions

Setting Default Definition
Privacy Mode Off While in Privacy Mode, the safe will not open even when a valid Entry Code is entered. This setting can be changed from the Yale Access App.
Inside Light On The inside light will automatically turn on and stay on for 10 seconds when the safe door is opened. This feature cannot be turned off.
One Touch Locking On Touching any key on the keypad will lock the safe. This setting cannot be turned off.
Sound On The sound setting for entry code verification can be set from the Yale Access App.
