Norsap Models:
Column Heights:
Be sure to keep hands and fingers out of moving parts areas when operating the chair.
The chair is equipped with various adjustment buttons. Some symbols may not be available due to the chair setup or model.
On the 1800 Active models, adjustments depend on the person's weight; tilting your body mass helps adjust the chair to the preferred position.
Personal Memory Function (NS4000 only):
To store a position: Hold the center button (store) and your numbered button.
To recall a position: Press and hold your numbered button.
A strong and level foundation is required for secure installation. The non-electrical telescope column may fasten in the lower position during storage or transport. Adjust this by fastening the lockable arm for swing, lifting the release handle, and pulling up the chair. The XL column bottom plate may vary on chair setup and model.
Diagram Description: Visuals show mounting hole patterns and dimensions for XL columns (4 x Ø11 THRU, 22.7 x 90°) and Flat oval columns, including measurements like 452, 394, 300.9, 210, 100, 290, 380.7, and Ø11.
Ensure the deck rail is mounted according to its user manual. Bolts for chair mounting are pre-installed in the carrier wagon. For electrical deck rails, cabling is done via quick-connections integrated into the chair's column.
Leather is durable but requires cleaning and protection. To ensure longevity, keep leather furniture at least 20-30 cm away from radiators or direct sunlight.
Perform regular light vacuuming. For occasional cleaning, use a reputable brand of upholstery shampoo following the manufacturer's instructions.
Lubricate glide parts of the chair with a silicone-based lubricant. If the chair is mounted on a deck rail, the deck rail's railway must NOT be lubricated.
To gain access to different parts of the chair:
Diagram Description: Three images illustrate access points: one showing the seat base mechanism, another the armrest with screw locations highlighted, and a third showing the column base.
Diagram Description: Two images demonstrate the process of removing the backrest cushion, showing it being pulled downwards and detached.
To remove the seat cushion: Adjust the seat to a forward position to access the gas spring bracket. Remove and secure the pin, then remove and secure the bolt holding the gas spring. Pull the cushion away from the gliders.
To install the seat cushion: Slide the cushion onto the gliders. Position it so the bolt can re-enter the bracket and gas spring.
Diagram Description: Images show the seat cushion being removed by detaching a pin and bolt near the gas spring, and then being reinstalled onto gliders.
To remove: Unscrew 3 x Screw Ø4.5 x19 A4 DIN 7983, then pull the cushion straight out from the mold.
To install: Center the plugs into the corresponding holes in the mold and push them in. Secure with the 3 x Screw Ø4.5 x19 A4 DIN 7983.
Diagram Description: Images illustrate the removal and installation of the armrest cushion, highlighting the screw locations and plug alignment. A note indicates that the number of adjustment buttons may vary.
To remove gas springs for seat movement, follow the instructions for removing the seat and standard armrest cushions. Gas springs are located under the seat cushion. Secure all screws and parts on a clean, soft surface. After removing cushions, you may need to remove the standard armrest, circular armrest lid, and cover to access hydraulic release buttons.
Note: Do not use pliers without soft protection when handling the piston for the release button, as marks can cause pressure loss and prevent the gas spring from locking or releasing.
Procedure: Locate the gas spring needing replacement. Follow the hydraulic tube to or from the armrest and remove the bracket. Remove the gas spring with its release cap, noting the order of washers and nuts before unscrewing.

Diagram Description: An illustration shows the underside of the Norsap 1800 seat, with numbered indicators pointing to the locations of the backrest, back crib, front crib, seatpan, and seat gas springs.
When mounting the gas spring to the release cap, screw the gas spring counter-clockwise (CCW) onto the release cap until resistance is felt. The resistance varies based on the preload force. Use the flat surfaces on the mounting end of the gas spring as a reference, and screw the gas spring CCW approximately 30 minutes (180 degrees). Without rotating the release cap further, tighten the nut by hand, then with suitable tools, to lock its position on the gas spring. The release cap and piston can now be rotated together to align mounting holes for installation.
Note: Do not use force when manipulating the hydraulic cable. If the cable loses its tubular shape, the gas spring may not engage or disengage correctly. Do not loosen, adjust, or change the angle on the ends of the plastic tubing at any point.
Installation Steps: Mount the gas spring first. Guide the hydraulic cable through the seat base and up into the upper part of the armrest. Attach the circular armrest lid and cover. Mount the hydraulic button to the bracket and attach the standard armrest cushion. Mount the armrest while checking for unwanted strain or pressure on the hydraulic cables. Check seat functions by operating the buttons. Finally, mount the seat cushion.
SAFETY FIRST: When changing gas springs or actuators, be careful around moving parts and support the movement before removing the component.
Diagram Description: A detailed view of a gas spring assembly shows its connection points and the hydraulic cable routing. Arrows indicate screw and connection points.
To access actuators and gas springs, set the seat depth adjustment to maximum length, or set the seat sliding/underarm length to minimum. This simplifies the next step. Pull out the hairpin cotter pin and remove the clevis pin holding the actuator. Slide the seat cushion off the chair and secure parts on a clean, soft surface.
For troubleshooting or removal of actuators and gas springs, please contact Norsap's head office.
NS 4000 Standard Components:
SAFETY FIRST: When changing actuators, ensure the chair is not connected to a power source and be careful around moving parts. Support movement before removing gas springs or actuators.
Diagram Description: Illustrations show the underside of the Norsap 4000 seat base with numbered actuators and gas springs identified. Another view shows the seat cushion removed, revealing the internal components.
Norsap 1800 S / 1800 M / 4000 models utilize electrical and gas spring adjustment modules. These allow for replacing an electrical membrane keyboard or a hydraulic gas spring release circuit.
Refer to 'Changing the Cushions' and 'Install or Adjust Gas Springs' sections for access on NS 1800 S. For NS 1800 M or NS 4000, follow 'Accessing the Interior', 'Changing the Cushions', and 'Install or Adjust Gas Springs' instructions.
Note: Hydraulic gas spring release circuits are not included in the modules. Stickers, signs, and electrical membrane keyboards are not reusable.

Diagram Description: Images display various adjustment modules, including gas spring modules for Norsap 1800 S and 1800 M, and an electrical module for Norsap 4000. Components like buttons, stickers, and keyboards are also depicted.
Procedure: Start by adjusting the chair to its lowest position, then pull the chair top and inner profile upwards. Secure the chair top and inner profile by tightening the 2 x M8 set screws. For chairs with preinstalled components or larger armrests, the 2 x M8 set screws alone may not support the weight; additional support beams will be needed. Use planks or other suitable objects placed from the floor up under the rotation unit before removing the 8 x M8x30 Button head socket cap screw. Lift the chair top, with the gas spring, up and away from the column. Move the support beams from the old column to the new column, positioning them from the floor up under the rotation unit. Place the chair top onto the new column and secure it to the rotation unit using the 8 x M8x30 Button head socket cap screw.
Important: Remember to check and set the rotation limit on the new rotation unit before installing the chair top.
Separating the Column from the Rotation Unit: Remove the 8 x M6x30 screw and mount it back onto the new column. The rotation unit is standard on all chairs with hydraulic adjustments and can be replaced with a suitable adapter plate. Chairs without rotation may have a different fixture for the gas spring located in the column.
Diagram Description: An illustration shows the chair top being lifted away from the rotation unit. Another view details the rotation unit itself, with screw locations indicated.
Resetting the Control Unit: Press and hold the control unit buttons together for 10 seconds. The control unit will beep, indicating it needs to be initialized.
Initialization: The initialization process runs all actuators to define their positions. Press and hold the three designated buttons throughout the initialization until all movement has stopped. This process involves a total of six movements, concluding with the backrest being set in an upright position.
Diagram Description: Two control panel layouts are shown. The first depicts buttons highlighted in orange, suggesting an active state or selection. The second shows buttons highlighted in blue, possibly indicating a different mode or function.
