According to regulations for protecting employees against noise and vibrations:

Avoid using headphones where hearing must not be affected, especially when crossing railway crossings or at construction sites.
Liability / Intended Use: Do not use the headphones for any application not described in this product information. Beyerdynamic GmbH & Co. KG is not liable for damage to the headphones or injury to persons caused by careless, improper, or incorrect use, or use for purposes not specified by the manufacturer.
Application
The DT 990 PRO X is an open-back studio headphone for professional mixing, analytical listening, and editing in the studio. Its low-impedance STELLAR.45 driver makes it compatible with various playback devices. The detachable, single-sided mini XLR cable enhances ease of use. The rugged headband made of spring steel ensures a secure fit and mechanical reliability for daily use. Soft ear and headband pads provide high long-term comfort and can be replaced if necessary. The connection cable features a gold-plated mini stereo jack plug (3.5 mm) with a 1/4" adapter (6.35 mm) for connection to common headphone outputs.
Maintenance
For hygiene, clean ear pads and headband with a soft cloth moistened with water. Ensure no water enters the ear cups or transducers. If necessary, remove ear pads and headband pad and clean with mild soapy water. Never use solvent cleaning agents. Pads must be completely dry before re-attachment. Never use a vacuum cleaner as it can cause irreparable damage.
Refer to “Replacement parts” for instructions on replacing ear pads or the headband pad. For other component replacements, contact your local beyerdynamic representative.
How to Connect the Cable
The lockable cable has a 3-pin mini XLR connector at the headphone end. To attach correctly, the small release button must face outward. Ensure the cable connector locks into place under the ear cup. To change the cable, press the release button and pull the connector from the DT 990 PRO X. Connect the stereo jack plug of the cable to a headphone output only! Connecting to other jack sockets could damage the DT 990 PRO X.
How to Change the Ear Pads
Use fingertips to carefully pull the ear pad away from the housing. Insert the plastic lip of the new ear pad into the groove of the housing and turn clockwise until fully attached. Turn the attached ear pad a few times as indicated by the arrow.
How to Change the Headband Pad
Unbutton the headband pad and remove it. Place the new headband pad around the headband and connecting cable. Fasten the buttons.
