Thank you for selecting and buying V-TAC product. V-TAC will serve you the best. Please read these instructions carefully before starting the installation and keep this manual handy for future reference. If you have any another query, please contact our dealer or local vendor from whom you have purchased the product. They are trained and ready to serve you at the best. The warranty is valid for 3 years from the date of purchase. The warranty does not apply to damage caused by incorrect installation or abnormal wear and tear. The company gives no warranty against damage to any surface due to incorrect removal and installation of the product. This product is warranted for manufacturing defects only.
Warnings
- Please make sure to turn off the power before starting the installation.
- The light source of this luminaire is not replaceable; when the light source reaches its end of life the whole luminaire shall be replaced.
- Installation should only be done by a certified electrician.
- Proper grounding should be ensured throughout the installation.
- The device must be connected to the main power supply through a fuse dependent by the total amount of the line’s power load.
- Installation should be carried out in accordance with the latest edition of the wiring regulations and taking into consideration the latest building regulations.
- Ensure that all electrical connections are tight with no loose strands, including factory made connections.
- Ensure there is adequate free air circulation of at least 100mm around the luminaire. It is the installer’s responsibility to consider fire risk and take appropriate precautions.
- A separate enclosure may be required if this unit is to be used in dusty and wet environments.
- The luminaire contains no user replaceable components other than the battery pack contained in emergency versions.
- The battery has a 2 years warranty provided it is operated and maintained by regular testing, as detailed in this User Manual. Failure to maintain or change the battery may result in reduced duration in emergency mode.
- Please make sure to turn off the power before starting the installation.
- Connect the wires as per the wiring diagram. Keep the switch live off, and battery plugged on. (The green charging indicator on, Faulty indicator off)
- Press the test button, The charging indicator off, and emergency function activated.
- Unplugged the battery, charging indicator OFF, the faulty indicator flash in 1Hz.

Installation Diagram
The installation process involves several steps, visually depicted:
- Ensure the mains power is switched off.
- Knock out the cable entry hole.
- Install the base onto the wall.
- Fix the cable using an M20 gland.
- Connect the cable to the driver.
- Connect the battery pack.
- Select the correct operating mode using the DIP switch.
- Fix the middle plate.
- Fix the diffuser cover.
- Switch on the power and test the light.
Visual cues indicate mains connections (Live, Neutral, Earth) and the emergency live connection. The luminaire may be live even if lamps are not operating; isolate mains and disconnect the battery before maintenance.
Operating Modes
The luminaire supports two operating modes:
- Maintained Mode: The light remains on continuously, both during normal power supply and during power failure. This is typically selected by setting the DIP switch to 'ON'.
- Non-Maintained Mode: The light operates only during a power failure. It remains off when the normal power supply is active. This is typically selected by setting the DIP switch to 'OFF'.
The changeover between modes is controlled by a DIP switch.
Emergency Function Test Before Installation
Perform the following test before final installation:
- Ensure the power is switched off.
- Connect the wires according to the wiring diagram. Keep the main switch off and the battery plugged in. The green charging indicator should be ON, and the faulty indicator should be OFF.
- Press the test button. The green charging indicator should turn OFF, and the emergency function should activate.
- Unplug the battery. The charging indicator should be OFF, and the faulty indicator should flash at 1Hz.
Battery Replacement
If the battery needs replacement:
- Switch off the power before starting.
- Disconnect the battery tie and remove the faulty battery.
- Replace with a new battery, tie it securely, and connect the battery plug (VH3.96) properly.
- Check if the installation is done correctly before reassembling the base cover.
Visuals show a faulty battery and a new battery.
Maintenance Information
The luminaire contains no user-replaceable components other than the battery pack in emergency versions. The battery requires regular testing for optimal performance and warranty validity (2 years). If the battery cannot support the minimum 3-hour autonomy, it must be replaced.
Suspension of Product Operation: If the product is not used for an extended period, follow these steps:
- Disconnect the main power supply.
- Press the test button once.
- The LED will stop emitting light, and battery protection will commence.
Failure to follow these steps may lead to battery discharge beyond protection limits.
Recommended Test Schedule:
- Daily: Check that the green indicator is active and the red error indicator is inactive.
- Monthly: Check that the green indicator is active and the red error indicator is inactive (after the monthly self-test).
- Annually: Check that the green indicator is active and the red error indicator is inactive (after the monthly self-test).
Note: If the red error indicator activates or the luminaire does not function as described, contact the installer.
General Instructions
- The mains must be switched off during installation or maintenance.
- Keep the product away from heat sources and in a well-ventilated area.
- Important Safety Note: The luminaire may be live even if the lamps are not operating. Always isolate mains and disconnect the battery before performing any maintenance.
Compliance and Safety
The product carries the following compliance marks: CE, UKCA, and RoHS. The IP65 rating indicates protection against dust and water jets. The marking also signifies that this product should not be disposed of with other household wastes.
