How to Start
1. Operation Guideline
Follow these simple steps to get started:
- Download and Install the App
- Activate the App
- Register an Account
- Login to your Account
- Add Device to Control
Note: If you have previously registered an account and added devices, these will remain accessible after re-installing the app and logging in.
2. FCC Caution (FCC ID: 2AJCLTWAC-TYWFS)
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
- Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
The distance between user and device should be no less than 20cm.
Part 1. Specification and Basic Information

3. Wi-Fi Module Location and Appearance in Indoor Unit
Open the front panel; the Wi-Fi module is located near the electric box cover or on the panel. It includes a connecting cable and a reset button.
Part 2. Application Configuration
1. Download and Install the App
For Android Smart Phone:
- Method 1: Scan the QR code (QR codes are excluded from this output) with a browser scanner, download, and install the application.
- Method 2: Open Google "Play Store" on your smart phone and search for "Smart Life".
For iOS Smart Phone:
- Method 1: Scan the QR code (QR codes are excluded from this output) and follow the tips to get into AppStore, download, and install the APP.
- Method 2: Open Apple "AppStore" on your smart phone and search for "Smart Life", download, and install the APP.
Note: Please enable the permissions for Storage, Location, and Camera for this APP during installation. Otherwise, you may encounter issues during operation.
The air conditioner can also be controlled using the TUYA SMART LIFE application, which other ROTENSO devices are controlled. However, due to the inability to control all functions of the air conditioner in the TUYA SMART APP, it is recommended to use the application described in this user manual, which is optimized for air conditioners. If you decide to use the TUYA application, you can download it from Google Store / App Store or via the QR code (QR codes are excluded from this output).
2. Activate App
Launch the "Smart Life" APP on your smart phone.
- Method 1: Tap the "Scan" button and scan the activation QR code (QR codes are excluded from this output).
- Method 2: Tap "or Enter Activation Code" at the bottom of the screen, then enter the activation code and tap "CONFIRM".
Note: Without the QR code or activation code, you cannot activate and use the APP. Please keep them safe.
3. Registration
- If you do not have an account, tap the "Register" button.
- Read the Privacy Policy and tap "Agree".
- Tap the ">" icon and choose your country.
- Enter your phone number or e-mail address.
- Tap the "Obtain verification code" button.
- Enter the verification code received via phone message or e-mail.
- Set a Password with 6-20 characters, including letters and numbers.
- Tap "Done".
4. Login
- Tap "Log in with existing account".
- Enter your registered account and password.
- Tap the "Log in" button.
First-time App Use: Create Family
- Tap "Create family".
- Name your family.
- Set the location.
- Choose default rooms or add new rooms.
- Tap "Done" and "Completed".
Note: The app can open your phone's map to help set the location.
5. Forgot the Password
If you forgot your password, you can log in as follows (only for phone number accounts):
- Tap "SMS verify and sign in".
- Enter your phone number and tap the "Obtain verification code" button.
- Enter the verification code received by your phone.
Alternatively, you can reset your password:
- Tap "Forgot password".
- Enter your account (phone number or e-mail address) and tap the "Obtain verification code" button.
- Enter the verification code received by your phone or e-mail.
- Set the new password and tap the "Done" button.
6. Add Device
There are two modes for adding a device: CF (Quick Connection) and AP (Access Point).
6.1. CF Mode
- Power on the indoor unit; no need to launch the air conditioner.
- Click "+" in the upper right corner of the "Home" screen or tap "Add device" in a room with no devices.
- Tap the "Split Air conditioner" logo.
- Reset the Wi-Fi module by pressing the "DISPLAY" button on the remote controller 6 times, or use a suitable tool to press the reset button on the Wi-Fi module, until "CF" is displayed on the indoor unit display. Then tap "Next Step".
- Input the password for the Wi-Fi network your smart phone is connected to, and tap "Confirm" (you can change the network if needed).
- You will see the connection progress percentage. Simultaneously, "PP", "SA", "AP" will flash in turn on the indoor display.
- "PP" means "Searching the router".
- "SA" means "Connected to the router".
- "AP" means "Connected to the server".
After successful connection, you can rename the device and select its location room.
6.2. AP Mode
- Power on the indoor unit; no need to launch the air conditioner.
- Click "+" in the upper right corner of the "Home" screen or tap "Add device" in a room with no devices.
- Tap the "Split Air conditioner" logo.
- Reset the Wi-Fi module by pressing the "DISPLAY" button on the remote controller 6 times, or use a suitable tool to press the reset button on the Wi-Fi module, until "AP" is displayed on the indoor unit display. Then tap "Next Step".
- Input the password for the Wi-Fi network your smart phone is connected to, and tap "Confirm".
- In the network setting screen, select "SmartLife-****" and tap " ".
- You will see the connection progress percentage. Simultaneously, "PP" means "Searching the router", "SA" means "Connected to the router", "AP" means "Connected to the server".
After successful connection, you can rename the device and select its location room.
Part 3. Air Conditioner Control
The device control screen will pop up automatically after adding the device. It can also be accessed manually by tapping the device name on the home screen.
Note: There are two different control forms based on different software or Wi-Fi module firmware. Please refer to the manual based on your actual control interface.
Control Form 1
1.1. The Main Control Interface
- Back to the Home screen icon.
- Indicator of setting temperature.
- Decrease the setting temperature icon (⬇️).
- Device details and management icon (...).
- Turn ON/OFF the air conditioner toggle.
- Selected Mode/Fan speed/Functions indicator.
- Increase the setting temperature icon (⬆️).
1.2. Mode Setting
- Tap "Mode" to pop up the Mode screen.
- Select one of the modes: Feel, Cool, Heat, Dry, Fan.
- Tap anywhere around the setting temperature to cancel the Mode setting.
1.3. Select Fan Speed
- Tap "Fan" to pop up the Fan screen.
- Select one of the fan speeds: High, med, Low, Auto.
- Tap anywhere around the setting temperature to cancel the selection.
1.4. Function Setting
- Tap "Function" to pop up the Function screen.
- Select one of the functions: Sleep, Turbo, ECO.
- Select UP-DOWN (⬆️⬇️) / LEFT-RIGHT (⬅️➡️) for auto swing direction.
- Tap anywhere around the setting temperature to cancel the Function setting.
1.5. Timer Adding
- Tap "Timer" to pop up the Add Timer screen.
- Tap "Add Timer" [➕].
- Select the time, repeat days, and Timer ON/OFF status.
- Select the Mode, Fan speed, Function, and setting temperature for Timer ON.
- Tap "Save" to add the timer.
Timer elements: Hour setting, Minute setting, Mode setting, Fan Speed setting, Temperature setting, Weekly setting, Timer ON/OFF setting.
1.6. Timer Management
- Tap the timer bar to edit the Timer, similar to the Timer adding process.
- Click the switch to enable or disable the Timer.
- Hold the timer bar for about 3 seconds to pop up the Remove Timer screen; tap "CONFIRM" to remove the Timer.
Control Form 2
2.1. The Main Control Interface
- Back to the Home screen icon.
- Decrease the setting temperature icon (⬇️).
- Selected Functions indicator.
- Power ON/OFF toggle.
- Tips: Name of the device.
- Increase the setting temperature icon (⬆️).
- Function Buttons.
Note: The interface may appear slightly different depending on the air conditioner model.
2.2. Mode Setting
- Tap the "Mode" button.
- There are 5 modes on the Mode screen; tap one button to set the air conditioner working mode: Cool, Fan, Dry, Heat, Auto.
- Tap the "X" icon to return to the main control screen.
- The mode and background will change on the screen.
2.3. Fan Speed Selection
- Tap the "Fan speed" button.
- Choose your desired fan speed and tap it.
- Tap the "X" icon to return to the main control screen.
- The selected fan speed indicator will appear on the screen.
Note: Fan Speed cannot be adjusted in Dry mode.
2.4. Air Flow Control
- Tap the "Precision Air Flow" or "Swing Flow" button.
- Choose your desired air flow and tap it.
- Tap the "X" icon to return to the main control screen.
- The selected air flow indicator will appear on the screen.
Note: For some models without auto Left-Right wind, activating it may result in a beep but no visible action.
Note: The Main control screen and Air Flow screen may appear slightly different depending on the air conditioner model.
2.5. ECO Function
- Tap the "ECO" button to activate the function; the button will light up, and an indicator will appear on the screen.
- Tap again to disable the function.
- Temperature controlled for some air conditioner models:
- In Cooling mode, the new setting temperature will be ≥26°C.
- In Heating mode, the new setting temperature will be ≤25°C.
Note: ECO is disabled on Fan, Dry, Auto, Turbo, and Sleep modes.
2.6. Sleep Function
- Tap the "Sleep" button.
- Choose your desired sleep mode and tap it.
- Tap the "X" icon to return to the main control screen.
- The selected sleep mode indicator will appear on the screen.
Note: Sleep is disabled on Fan, Dry, Auto, Turbo, and Sleep modes.
2.7. Timer (ON) Setting
- Tap the "Timer" button.
- Tap "+" [➕] in the upper right corner of the Timer main screen.
- Choose the Time, Repeat days, and Switch OFF status, then tap "Save".
- The Timer (off) will appear on the Timer main screen.
Options include: Slide up or down to select time, Tap "Repeat" to select days or "Once", Tap "Switch" to choose ON/OFF.
2.8. Timer (OFF) Setting
- Tap the "Timer" button.
- Tap "+" [➕] in the upper right corner of the Timer main screen.
- Set the Time, Repeat Date, Switch (ON), Temperature, Mode, Fan speed, Air Flow as desired, then tap "Save".
- The timer will appear on the Timer main screen.
Options include: Slide up or down to select time, Tap "Repeat" to select days or "Once", Tap "Switch" to choose ON/OFF, Tap "Temperature/Mode/Fan Speed/Air Flow" to set as desired.
2.9. Timer Management
- Change Timer setting: Tap anywhere on the timer list bar (except the switch bar) to enter the Timer setting screen, change the setting, and tap "Save".
- Enable or Disable Timer: Tap the switch to the left to disable the Timer; tap to the right to enable it.
- Delete Timer: Slide the timer list bar from right to left until the "Delete" button appears, then tap "Delete".
2.10. More Functions
Tap the "More" button to operate additional functions if they appear on the screen.
Note: Some air conditioner models may not have the "More" button. Some icons may be hidden if the air conditioner does not have the function or it is not enabled in the current mode.
- Display: Tap to switch the indoor LED display ON/OFF.
- Buzzer: Tap to switch the buzzing sound (when operating via Wi-Fi APP) ON/OFF.
- Anti-Mildew: Tap to activate the Anti-Mildew function. After the AC turns off, it will dry residual moisture to prevent mold. The function turns off automatically when finished.
- Health: Tap to switch the healthy function ON/OFF. It activates the antibacterial ionizer function (for models with an ionizer generator).
- GEN Mode: Tap to select one of three levels of current to maintain proper current and save energy.
- Self-Cleaning: Tap to activate the Self-Cleaning function. Refer to the User Manual for details.
- Electricity Monitoring: Tap to monitor the air conditioner's electricity consumption. You can tap a button to pop up a calendar and select the date.
- 8°C Heat: Tap to activate this function, which helps keep the room temperature above 8°C. Refer to the User Manual for details.
- Reservation: Set the time, repeat day, temperature, mode, fan speed, and air flow as desired, then tap "Save" to activate. The air conditioner will automatically adjust at the set time.
- Self-diagnosis: Tap to initiate self-diagnosis. The air conditioner will indicate error codes and problem instructions if possible.
- Electricity Management: Tap to access management options.
- Default mode: AC auto-operates for ultimate smart energy saving and comfortable sleep.
- Fixed Electricity mode: AC auto-operates based on a user-selected fixed electricity power.
- Fixed Temp mode: AC auto-operates based on a user-selected fixed temperature.
3. Device Details and Device Management
Access the device details screen by tapping on Control Form 1 or the "..." icon on Control Form 2.
Here you can find useful information and share the device with other accounts.
- Tap to change the device location to another room.
- Tap to check the network status.
- Tap to get instructions for connecting Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant voice controllers.
- Provide feedback on problems or suggestions to the APP administrator.
- Tap to check the Virtual ID, Wi-Fi name, IP address, MAC address, Time Zone, and Wi-Fi signal strength.
- Check and update the firmware.
- Tap to remove the device; it will be reset automatically upon deletion.
How to share devices to other accounts:
- Tap "Device Sharing" and the Device Sharing screen will pop up.
- Tap "Add Sharing" [➕].
- Select the region and enter the account you wish to share with.
- Tap "Completed"; the account will appear on your sharing list.
- Received sharing members should press and hold the home screen and slide down to refresh the device list; the device will then appear.
Hold the bar for about 3 seconds to delete a sharing account.
Part 4. Account Management
1. Account Profile Setting
- Change the nickname of your account.
- Select the time zone.
- Set a pattern password for launching the APP.
- Select a picture for the account from the local album.
- Change the password (similar to resetting the password on page 10).
- Tap the switch to enable or disable the Pattern password.
- Deactivate the account carefully, as all data will be deleted.
2. Home (Family) Management
- Tap the name of the home at the upper left corner of the Home Screen and select "Home Management". Alternatively, tap "Me" and then "Home Management".
- Tap one of the families in the family list to enter the Family Settings screen.
Note: Tap "Add family" and refer to page 9 to add a new family.
Set the family details:
- Open the map automatically to set the location.
- Add other accounts to this family to control devices.
- Tap to rename the family name.
- Tap to enter Room Management.
- Tap to set a name and select a picture for the family member.
- Remove the Family from your account.
Part 5. Troubleshooting

Check if the router is shielding the App. |
Mobile can't control air conditioner | Software display: "Identification failed". This means the air conditioner has been reset, and the mobile phone lost control permission. You need to connect to Wi-Fi to regain permission. Please connect to the local network and refresh. If it still doesn't work, delete the air conditioner and wait for its refresh. |
Mobile can't find air conditioner | Software display: "Air conditioner out of line". Please check the network status. 1. The air conditioner has been reconfigured. 2. Air conditioner is out of power. 3. Router is out of power. 4. Air conditioner cannot connect to the router. 5. Air conditioner cannot connect to the network through the router (under remote control mode). 6. Mobile cannot connect to the router (under local control mode). 7. The mobile phone cannot connect to the network (under remote control mode). |
Important Notices
- For technical updates, there may be deviations between the actual items and the manual. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please refer to your actual product and APP.
- The Smart air conditioner APP may be altered without notice for quality improvement and may also be deleted depending on the circumstances of the manufacturing firms.
- In case the Wi-Fi signal strength is weakened, the smart App may be disconnected. Ensure the indoor unit is near the wireless router.
- The DHCP server function should be activated for the wireless router.
- Internet connection may fail due to a firewall problem. In this case, contact your internet service provider.
- For smartphone system security and network settings, ensure the Smart air conditioner APP is trusted.
