ASUS TUF GAMING B850-PLUS WIFI Quick Start Guide
1. Prepare the components
Gather all necessary components for building your PC, including the chassis, CPU, memory, M.2 SSD, CPU cooler, SATA device, power supply unit, and graphics card. These are recommendations; please prepare components according to your needs.
2. Install key components
Install the CPU
Carefully install the CPU into the motherboard socket. Ensure the CPU is properly seated. Do not remove the PnP cap before the CPU is properly installed. Refer to the motherboard manual for detailed instructions.
Install the Memory
Install the memory modules into the designated DIMM slots. Ensure they are correctly oriented and fully seated. Refer to the motherboard manual for specific slot population order.
3. Install the M.2 SSD
Install the M.2 SSD into the M.2 slot. Secure it using the provided screw or the M.2 Q-Latch mechanism. If installing a single-sided M.2 module, use the bundled M.2 rubber. Refer to the manual for specific installation methods (Type-A or Type-B) and M.2 Q-Release or M.2 Q-Slide features.
4. Install the cooling system
Air Cooler
Mount the air cooler onto the CPU, ensuring proper contact and securing it with the provided mounting hardware. Connect the CPU fan cable to the CPU_FAN or CPU_OPT header on the motherboard.
AIO Cooler
Install the AIO cooler's pump and radiator according to the cooler's manual. Connect the pump to the AIO_PUMP or W_PUMP header and the fan to the CPU_FAN or CPU_OPT header.
5. Install the motherboard into the chassis
Carefully place the motherboard into the PC chassis, aligning it with the standoffs. Secure the motherboard with screws. For models without a pre-mounted I/O shield, install the I/O shield first.
6. Connect to chassis fan and ARGB/RGB headers
Connect the chassis fan to the CHA_FAN headers. Connect any ARGB or RGB devices to the corresponding ARGB/RGB headers on the motherboard.
7. Install and connect the power supply unit (PSU)
Mount the PSU securely into the chassis, ensuring proper airflow. Connect the necessary power cables from the PSU to the motherboard, including the ATX power connector and any CPU power connectors.
8. Connect everything to the motherboard
Connect the front panel system header cables (power button, reset button, LEDs) to the corresponding pins on the motherboard. Connect the front panel audio header. Connect USB headers to the motherboard. Connect SATA devices to the SATA ports and power them from the PSU.
9. Install the graphics card
Insert the graphics card into the primary PCIe x16 slot. Ensure it is securely seated. Connect any required PCIe power cables from the PSU to the graphics card.
10. Connect to the Internet via Ethernet/Wi-Fi antenna
Connect an Ethernet cable to the LAN port or attach the Wi-Fi antenna to the designated connector on the motherboard for internet connectivity.
11. Connect peripherals (monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc.)
Connect your monitor, keyboard, mouse, and other peripherals to the appropriate ports on the motherboard or chassis.
12. Turn on the PSU and your PC
Ensure all connections are secure. Turn on the PSU switch and then press the power button on your PC. Check the Q-LEDs or Q-LED Core for system status. Refer to the motherboard manual for troubleshooting if any errors occur.
13. Install the operating system and drivers
After the system powers on, install your operating system and the necessary drivers. You can typically find these on the ASUS support website or included media. Refer to the driver and utilities installation guide.
