Course Synopsis – Vera Smart Home Fundamentals

This full day, "hands-on" training is for installers who would like to understand the basics of Z-Wave technology. It will include setting up, configuring and operating Z-Wave smart home system, based on a Vera gateway and various Z-Wave devices.

Training Certificates

A training certificate will be provided after successfully passing the final test at the end of the training.

Course Duration

1 day = 7 hours from 10am to 5pm including lunch break.

Course Content

Z-Wave technology fundamentals
Setting up Vera gateway (network connecting, opening an account, downloading apps, etc.)
Configuring Vera gateway (localisation, backups, users, switching to WiFi, notifications, etc.)
Adding Z-Wave devices and IP cameras (e.g. sensor, lock, thermostat, switch/dimmer, etc.)
Creating scenes - automation scripts
Setting up notifications
Introduction to 3rd party integration: Plug-ins, Voice Control, Bosch Security panels, Audio Video
Final test and certifications

What to Bring

Please bring your own laptop with power adapter – this is to allow participation in the "hands-on" part of the workshop sessions. Please install the latest Chrome browser and Flash Player.
Please bring your smartphone (iPhone or Android) or tablet (iPad or Android) – this is to use the Vera user app during the workshop exercises. Please download Vera App on your smartphone/tablet.

Prerequisites

We recommend reading on Z-Wave technology: "Z-Wave Essentials" book by Dr Christian Paetz. Available on our B2B portal in the 'Z-Wave Training & Education' category.
We recommend reviewing a few initial training videos on Vera Online training channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/veratraining.
