Installation Steps
Step 1
Attach one Bed Extender Panel (A) to one Bracket (C) using one Bolt (D) and one Washer (E).
Step 2
Attach the second Bed Extender Panel (A) to the same Bracket (C) using one Bolt (D) and one Washer (E).
Step 3
Attach the second Bracket (C) to the other ends of the two Bed Extender Panels (A) using two Bolts (D) and two Washers (E). This completes the main extender assembly.
Step 4
Position the assembled extender unit (panels A + brackets C) near the vehicle bed.
Step 5
Attach the first Bracket (C) (now part of the extender assembly) to the vehicle bed using two Bolts (D) and two Washers (E). Torque specification: 13 mm socket, 1 inch extension.
Step 6
Attach the second Bracket (C) (now part of the extender assembly) to the vehicle bed using two Bolts (D) and two Washers (E). Torque specification: 13 mm socket, 1 inch extension.
Step 7
Ensure the extender assembly is correctly positioned and secured to the bed.
Step 8
Attach the Bed Extender Latch Assembly (B) to one of the Bed Extender Panels (A).
Step 9
Secure the Bed Extender Latch Assembly (B) using a T-50 Torx bit. Apply a torque of 55 Nm (41 ft-lb).
Step 10
Insert one Latch Bolt (F) into its corresponding mounting point on the vehicle bed or tailgate.
Step 11
Align the Bed Extender Latch Assembly (B) with the installed Latch Bolt (F) and secure it.
Step 12
Insert the second Latch Bolt (F) into its mounting point.
Step 13
Align and secure the other side of the Bed Extender Latch Assembly (B) with the second Latch Bolt (F). Apply a torque of 5.4 Nm (48 in-lb) to the latch mechanism fasteners.
Step 14
The bed extender is now installed and in the closed position.
Step 15
To deploy the bed extender, release the latches and pivot the panels outwards.
Step 16
The extender panels can be positioned to create a larger flat surface or a barrier. Ensure the extender is securely latched when in the closed position. Check all connections and fasteners for tightness after installation. The Ford F-150 Bed Extender is now fully operational.
