This product should not be placed near a source of heat such as a stove, radiator, or another heat producing amplifier.
Use only the supplied power cord which is compatible with the mains voltage supply in your area.
Power supply cords should always be handled carefully and should be replaced if damaged in any way.
Never break off the earth (ground) pin on the power supply cord.
The power supply cord should be unplugged when the unit is to be unused for long periods of time.
An apparatus with Class I construction should be connected to a mains socket outlet with a protective earthing connection.
The mains plug of the power supply cord should remain readily accessible.
Before the unit is switched on, the loudspeaker should be connected as described in the handbook using the lead recommended by the manufacturer.
Always replace damaged fuses with the correct rating and type.
Never disconnect the protective mains earth connection.
High loudspeaker levels can cause permanent hearing damage. You should therefore avoid the direct vicinity of loudspeakers operating at high levels. Wear hearing protection if continuously exposed to high levels.
If the product does not operate normally when the operating instructions are followed, then refer the product to a qualified service engineer.
OSHA Permissible Noise Level Exposures
The U.S. Government's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has specified the following permissible noise level exposures:
Duration Per Day In Hours | Sound Level dBA, Slow Response |
---|---|
8 | 90 |
6 | 92 |
4 | 95 |
3 | 97 |
2 | 100 |
1½ | 102 |
1 | 105 |
½ | 110 |
¼ or less | 115 |
According to OSHA, any exposure in excess of the above permissible limits could result in some hearing loss. Ear plug protectors in the ear canals or over the ears must be worn when operating this amplification system in order to prevent a permanent hearing loss if exposure is in excess of the limits as set forth above. To ensure against potentially dangerous exposure to high sound pressure levels, it is recommended that all persons exposed to equipment capable of producing high sound pressure levels such as this amplification system be protected by hearing protectors while this unit is in operation.
All electrical and electronic products should be disposed of separately from the municipal waste stream via designated collection facilities appointed by the government or the local authorities.

Features
The DEBUT 30E includes all of the great tone and innovative features you would expect from a Blackstar amplifier. The patented ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) circuit gives you infinite adjustment over the characteristics of the tone control network and takes you from the USA to the UK. So now you can effectively design your own tone and finally find 'the sound in your head'.
The DEBUT 30E also has a speaker emulated output allowing any guitarist to get amazing tone straight to their computer/DAW or through headphones.
Additionally, there is a Line Input, allowing you to jam along to your favourite tracks. With these features you have everything you need for practising or recording.
Controls and Connections
DEBUT 30E Front Panel
The front panel of the Debut 30E amplifier features controls and connections arranged logically. From left to right, there is:
- 1. INPUT: A 1/4" jack socket for connecting your guitar. Always use a good quality screened guitar lead.
- 2. GAIN: This control adjusts the amount of overdrive or distortion.
- When the Clean Channel is selected, low settings counter clockwise (CCW) deliver a clean sound. As the Gain control is increased clockwise (CW), the sound moves from clean into break-up, until at its maximum position, a full crunch tone is achieved.
- When the Overdrive Channel is selected, the Gain control adjusts the amount of overdrive or distortion. Low settings, counter clockwise, deliver a clean sound on the edge of break-up. As the Gain control is increased CW, the sound becomes more overdriven, moving through crunch tones until, at its maximum position, a full distorted lead tone is achieved.
- 3. OD (OVERDRIVE): A push-button switch to select the Overdrive Channel. When the switch is in, the Overdrive Channel is selected. When the switch is out, the Clean Channel is in operation.
- 4. VOLUME: This controls the volume of the Overdrive Channel. Turning it clockwise increases the volume.
- 5. EQUALISATION: The Bass, Middle, and Treble controls will increase the relevant frequencies when turned clockwise and decrease when turned counter clockwise.
- 6. ISF (Infinite Shape Feature): The patented ISF control works in conjunction with the Bass, Middle, and Treble controls. It allows you to choose the exact tonal signature you prefer. Fully counter clockwise has a more American characteristic with a tight bottom-end and more aggressive middle, and fully clockwise has a British characteristic which is more 'woody' and less aggressive. Unlike conventional 'contour' controls and parametric equalisation systems, the Bass, Middle, and Treble controls remain interactive with each other just like in a traditional guitar amplifier tone stack. This leads to a very familiar, musical response.
Recommendation: Start with the ISF set to halfway and the Bass, Middle, and Treble set to taste. Then try gradually adjusting the ISF CW and CCW until you find the sound you prefer.
- 7. DELAY ON/OFF: Press this switch to engage the DELAY. When the switch is out, the DELAY is off.
- 8. DELAY TIME: This controls the amount of time and feedback on the DELAY. Turn the knob clockwise to increase the time and feedback for a spacious large room feel, and counter-clockwise to decrease the time and feedback for a more slap-back type effect.
- 9. LINE IN: Connect the output of your audio device here. Adjust the player's volume to match that of your guitar to enable you to play along.
NOTE: The source is summed to mono through the amp speaker and stereo through the LINE OUT / HEADPHONES.
- 10. LINE OUTPUT / HEADPHONES: This output emulates the tonal characteristics of a guitar speaker cabinet and provides a natural tone for connection to a recording device or mixing desk, and for use with headphones.
NOTE: When a lead is connected here, the combo's internal speaker is disconnected.
- 11. POWER: This switch is used to turn the amplifier on and off.
- 12. POWER INDICATOR LIGHT: The power indicator will light when the amplifier is switched on.
DEBUT 30E Rear Panel
The rear panel of the Debut 30E amplifier features the main power input and a footswitch connection.
- 1. MAINS INPUT: The mains lead should only be connected to a power outlet that is compatible with the voltage, power, and frequency requirements stated on the rear panel. If in doubt, get advice from a qualified technician. The unit requires a 220V-230V~50/60Hz supply and is rated at 70 WATTS. It includes a fuse holder with details for different voltage ranges: 220V-230V - T500mAL250V, 100V/120V - T1AL250V.
- 2. FOOTSWITCH: A 2-button latching footswitch (sold separately) can be connected here. Button 1 will toggle between the Clean and Overdrive channels. Button 2 will turn the Delay effect on and off.
