Quick Start Guide
Application
The STEGO STO/STS 011 temperature controllers are designed for regulating heaters, coolers, filter fans, and heat exchangers within stationary, sealed housings of electrical devices. They can also function as switching contacts (min. 24V, 20mA) for signal devices to report over- or under-temperature conditions.
Versions
- Normally Closed (NC) contact: The switching contact opens as the temperature rises.
- Normally Open (NO) contact: The switching contact closes as the temperature rises.
Safety Considerations
Installation must only be performed by qualified electrical technicians in compliance with national power-supply guidelines (IEC 60364).
- Ensure safety measures according to VDE 0100 are implemented.
- Strictly adhere to the technical specifications provided on the type plate.
- Do not make any modifications or alterations to the device.
- In case of visible damage or malfunction, do not attempt to repair or operate the device. Dispose of the device properly.
- The regulator's contact system is exposed to environmental influences, which may alter contact resistance, potentially leading to voltage drops and/or self-warming of the contacts.
- Notice: If the ambient temperature in the electrical cabinet exceeds 70°C (158°F), a heat-resistant cable must be used for connecting the thermostat.
Installation Guidelines
- Install the regulator in the upper area of the electrical cabinet, as far as possible from heaters or other heat-generating components.
- Do not cover the device.
- Do not operate the device in environments with aggressive atmospheres.
- Mode of operation: 1.B
- Operate the device only in an environment that ensures contamination class 2 (or better) according to IEC 61010. Contamination class 2 implies that only non-conductive contamination may occur. However, temporary conductivity due to condensation should be anticipated.

Setting Recommendations
Hysteresis: 4K (±3K tolerance). When setting the temperature for the NC/NO contact, the maximum possible hysteresis should be considered.
Example:
- Normally Closed (NC) contact: Set value minus max. hysteresis (7K) = switch-on point for heater.
- Normally Open (NO) contact: Set value minus max. hysteresis (7K) = switch-off point for fan.
