Operation Details
(1) Main Control Functions
1. Time Delay Safety Control
- 3 min: Compressor operation is delayed for 3 minutes to balance cycle pressure (protects compressor).
- 5 sec: Indoor fan is delayed for 5 seconds during initial operation to prevent noise from the vertical louver and wind.
- 2 min: Reversing valve is delayed for 2 minutes during heating operation OFF or mode switching when the compressor is off, to prevent abnormal noise. While the compressor is running, switching takes 3-5 seconds.
2. Airflow Direction Control
This function allows the vertical louver to swing automatically up and down or be set at a fixed position.
Procedure:
- Press the ON/OFF Button to operate the unit.
- Press the Airflow Direction Control Button to swing the vertical louver up and down automatically.
- Repress the Airflow Direction Control Button to set the vertical louver at a fixed position.
Airflow Direction Angles:

For <18K, 24K> Models: Diagram showing airflow direction angles for 18K and 24K models, with numbered settings for cooling and heating, indicating angle ranges.
3. Cooling Operation Mode
When the Cooling (*) Mode is selected, the unit operates according to the remote controller settings. The operation diagram is shown below.
Cooling Operation Mode Diagram: Line graph illustrating intake air temperature fluctuations over time, showing compressor status (ON/OFF) and indoor fan speed (Low/Selecting) relative to setting temperatures. Time intervals like "More than 3 minutes" are indicated.
Protection of the indoor heat exchanger from frosting: Compressor and outdoor fan stop when indoor pipe temperature is below 32°F and restart when the pipe temperature is above 45°F.
Auto Operation
4. Auto Operation (Electronic Control Mode)
The operation procedure is as follows (for Cooling & Heating Models):
- Press Start/Stop Button
- Select Auto Operation Mode
- Check the Room temperature
Operation mode, indoor fan speed, and setting temperature are decided automatically by the unit's electronic control.
Note: If the initial mode is decided, that mode continues without room temperature changes.
Auto Operation for Cooling
Conditions:
Operation Condition | Intake-air Temperature | Setting Temperature | Fan Speed | Air Direction Control |
---|---|---|---|---|
When Auto Operation initial start | Over 78 °F | 77°F | Controlled by the electronic control | In this mode, when pressing the vertical air direction control button, vertical louver swings up and down automatically. |
Over 76°F~below 78°F | Intake air -1°C | |||
Over 72°F~below 76 °F | Intake air -0.5°C | |||
Over 68 °F~below 72°F | Intake air temperature | |||
below 64 °F | 64°F | |||
When pressing room temperature setting button during Auto Operation | Over 64 °F~below 86 °F | 86°F | Electronic control | |
below 64 °F | 64°F |

Auto Operation for Soft Dry (only Heating Model)
The setting temperature is the same as auto operation for cooling.
- Compressor ON temperature: Setting temperature +2°F
- Compressor OFF temperature: Setting temperature -1°F
Intake-air temp. | Setting temp. |
---|---|
below 68 °F | 68 °F |
Over 68°F~below 70°F | Intake air temperature +1 °F |
over 86 °F | 86°F |
Auto Operation for Heating (only Heating Model)
- Compressor ON temperature: Setting temperature
- Compressor OFF temperature: Setting temperature +6°F
Vertical Louver Auto Operation
In Auto operation mode, when pressing the vertical airflow direction control button, the vertical louver moves as shown below.

Operation Modes
5. Soft Dry Operation Mode
During Soft Dry Operation:
- Compressor ON temperature is the setting temperature plus 2°F.
- Compressor OFF temperature is the setting temperature minus 1°F.
When the room temperature rises over the compressor ON temperature, the operation mode switches to Cooling operation.
When the room temperature falls between the compressor ON and OFF temperatures, the operation mode switches to Soft Dry Operation.
Soft Dry Operation Mode Diagram: Line graph showing intake air temperature changes, detailing compressor and fan speed operations during cooling, soft dry, and subsequent cooling cycles. Time intervals like "maximum 3 minutes", "10 minutes", "7 minutes" are shown.
6. Heating Operation Mode (only Heating Model)
The unit operates according to the setting conditions by the remote controller.
Heating Operation Mode Diagram: Line graph showing intake air temperature fluctuations, illustrating compressor and fan speed control during heating operations. Time intervals like "minimum 10sec.", "minimum 1 min." are indicated.
A point: While the indoor pipe temperature is higher than 95°F, indoor fan operates at low speed. When the indoor pipe temperature becomes lower than 95°F, indoor fan stops.
B point: When the indoor pipe temperature is higher than 82°F, fan operates at selected fan speed.
Hot-Start Control
The indoor fan stops until the indoor pipe temperature reaches 82°F.
During heating operation, if indoor pipe temperature falls below 78°F, the fan stops.
Hot-Start Control Diagram: Line graph showing indoor pipe temperature changes, indicating compressor and fan speed status based on temperature thresholds (82°F, 78°F). A "1 min" interval is shown.
Advanced Controls
Defrost Control
Defrost operation is controlled by timer and sensing temperature of the outdoor pipe.
- The first defrost starts only when the outdoor pipe temperature falls below 21°F after 60 minutes of heating operation and more than 10 minutes of compressor operation.
- Defrost ends after 12 minutes from the start of defrost operation, or when the outdoor fan operates within 4 minutes after the outdoor pipe temperature rises over 54°F, even if before 12 minutes.
- The second defrost starts only when the outdoor pipe temperature falls below 21°F after 60 minutes from the end of the first defrost and more than 10 minutes of compressor operation.

7. Cooling or Heating Mode with Sleep Mode Auto Control
When selecting the Cooling (*) or Heating () mode combined with the Sleep Mode Auto Control (), the operation diagram is as follows.
Cooling Mode with the Sleep Mode
The setting temperature automatically rises by 2°F after 30 minutes and by 4°F after 1 hour.
The operation will be stopped after 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 hours.

Additional Operations
8. Forced Operation
If the wireless remote controller is lost, the unit can be operated using the forced operation button.
Standard Conditions:
Heating Model | Cooling Model | |||
---|---|---|---|---|
Room Temp ≥ 76°F | 70°F ≤ Room Temp < 76°F | Room temp < 70°F | ||
Operation Mode | Cooling | Cooling | Soft Dry | Heating |
Indoor Fan Speed | High | High | Soft Dry Rule | High |
Setting Temp. | 72°F | 72 °F | 74 °F | 76 °F |
The unit operates in low fan speed for the first 15 seconds, then switches to the proper operation mode according to intake air temperature.
