Installation Instructions
Unpack the Refrigerator
WARNING: Excessive Weight Hazard Use two or more people to move and install. Failure to do so can result in back or other injury.
Remove packaging materials. Do not use sharp instruments, rubbing alcohol, flammable fluids, or abrasive cleaners on the surface. For more information, see "Refrigerator Safety."
When Moving Your Refrigerator: Cover the floor with cardboard or hardboard to avoid damage. Always pull the refrigerator straight out; do not wiggle or "walk" it.
Glass Shelves and Covers: Do not clean cold glass shelves with warm water, as they may break due to sudden temperature changes or impact. Tempered glass shatters into small pieces, which is normal. Use both hands when removing heavy glass shelves.

Location Requirements
WARNING: Explosion Hazard Keep flammable materials and vapors away from refrigerator. Failure to do so can result in death, explosion, or fire.
IMPORTANT: For indoor household use only. Ensure proper ventilation: allow 1/2" (1.27 cm) space on each side and top, 1" (2.54 cm) space behind. Allow extra space at the back for ice maker water line. For installation next to a fixed wall, allow 2" (5.08 cm) minimum side space for doors to swing open.
Notes: Intended for ambient temperatures between 55°F (13°C) and 110°F (43°C). Preferred range for efficiency is 60°F (15°C) to 90°F (32°C). Do not install near heat sources. Minimum cabinet width is 36" (91.44 cm). For crisper pan removal with an extended wall, 54" (137.16 cm) total width is recommended.
Electrical and Water Requirements
Electrical Requirements
WARNING: Electrical Shock Hazard Use a grounded 3-prong outlet. Do not remove ground prong, use an adapter, or use an extension cord. Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, fire, or electrical shock.
A 115-volt, 60 Hz, AC only, 15- or 20-amp fused, grounded electrical supply is required. A separate circuit is recommended. Use an outlet that cannot be turned off by a switch. Do not use an extension cord.
NOTE: Turn cooling off and disconnect power before installation, cleaning, or removing light bulbs.
Water Supply Requirements
Tools Needed: Flat-blade screwdriver, 7/16" and 1/2" open-end or adjustable wrenches, 1/4" nut driver, 1/4" drill bit, cordless drill.
IMPORTANT: All installations must meet local plumbing code requirements. Use copper tubing and check for leaks. Install only where temperatures remain above freezing.
Water Pressure: A cold water supply with pressure between 30 and 120 psi (207-827 kPa) is required for the dispenser and ice maker. To check pressure, dispense 1 cup (237 mL) of water with the filter removed; it should take 8 seconds or less.
Reverse Osmosis Water Supply: Water pressure from an RO system to the inlet valve must be 30-120 psi (207-827 kPa). If connecting to RO, pressure from the RO system to the refrigerator needs to be 40-60 psi (276-414 kPa). Check RO sediment filter and storage tank refill if pressure is low. If using a refrigerator water filter with RO, remove the refrigerator filter.
Connect Water Supply
IMPORTANT: Plumbing must comply with local codes. The refrigerator water tubing is PEX. Copper and PEX connections are acceptable. Recommended Whirlpool PEX tubing part numbers are W10505928RP, 8212547RP, or W10267701RP.
Style 1 (Recommended)
- Unplug refrigerator. Turn off main water supply. Flush line.
- Use a 1/2" copper household supply line with a quarter-turn shutoff valve.

IMPORTANT: Use a cold water pipe. Drill on the top side to avoid sediment.- Measure and cut 1/4" O.D. copper tubing. Ensure ends are square.
- Drill a 1/4" hole in the cold water pipe.
Diagram: Shows cold water pipe (A), pipe clamp (B), copper tubing (C), compression nut (D), compression sleeve (E), shutoff valve (F), packing nut (G).
Fasten shutoff valve to pipe using clamp. Tighten packing nut. Slip compression sleeve and nut onto tubing. Insert tubing into valve outlet and tighten nut.- Flush tubing with water. Turn off shutoff valve.
- Bend tubing to reach refrigerator inlet, leaving a coil for service access.
Connect to Refrigerator (Style 1)
- Unplug refrigerator.
- Remove plastic part from water line inlet.
- Thread nut onto tubing end, tighten by hand, then with a wrench (two more turns). Do not overtighten. Ensure tubing does not touch cabinet walls.
- Install water supply tube clamp.
- Turn shutoff valve ON. Check for leaks.
Style 2
- Unplug refrigerator. Turn off main water supply. Flush line.
- Locate a 1/2" to 1 1/4" vertical cold water pipe.
- Remove plastic part from valve inlet. Attach copper tube using compression nut and sleeve. Tighten nut.
- Use tube clamp to secure tubing to refrigerator.
- Turn shutoff valve ON. Check for leaks.
Diagram: Shows tube clamp (A), clamp screw (B), copper tubing (C), compression nut (D), valve inlet (E).
If needed, install a second water strainer.
Style 3
