Downloading the Wi-Fi App
Download the "Wi-Fi" application from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store to maximize your speaker's capabilities. The app allows you to:
- Control the speaker from your smartphone or tablet, even from multiple devices simultaneously.
- Connect multiple Wi-Fi speakers for synchronized or individual playback (Multiroom Mode).
- Explore online radio stations via TuneIn.
- Listen to music via Spotify (requires Spotify Premium account).
Initial Settings
Follow these steps to configure your speaker:
- Turn on your Wi-Fi speaker and wait approximately 15 seconds. A sound will indicate it's ready for app connection.
- Run the app and select "Add Device". Ensure your device is connected to your private Wi-Fi network.
- Enter your Wi-Fi network password and press "Next".
- Press and hold your speaker's Wi-Fi SYNC button (4) until you hear "Waiting for Wi-Fi connection". A voice message will confirm successful synchronization. If it fails, repeat from step 1.
- Choose a name for your speaker from the list or create a custom name.
Once a name is selected, press "Done". Your speaker is now ready. An alternative connection method is detailed in the "How to make your speaker connect to your Wi-Fi network" section.
Playback Settings
After configuring your speaker, you can play music using the following options:
How to Use the Wi-Fi App
The app's main menu includes four categories:
Favourites:
Access your most liked and saved songs quickly. This list allows easy addition and deletion of songs.
My Music:
Play songs stored on your device, organized by Albums and Artists. Create playlists and access recently played tracks. If a USB stick or SD card is connected, you can access these external memories to select songs. You can also add tracks to favourites or playlists and view additional track information.
TuneIn:
Enjoy a wide selection of online radio stations, including music from around the world and sports programs.
Spotify:
Listen to your favorite music on your Multiroom speaker with a Spotify Premium account. This option is available in the app's main menu.
Play Modes Not Requiring Wi-Fi App
Besides Wi-Fi options, you can control other external play modes via the app. However, the following inputs can be used without the app:
Bluetooth
Change to Bluetooth mode by pressing the MODE button (4) on your speaker (the screen will show "-bt-"). Connect your Multiroom speaker via Bluetooth without needing a code. This is ideal for playing online videos from your device.
Removable USB/SD Memories
Connecting a USB or SD external memory automatically starts the USB/SD mode. Play MP3 and WAV files from your external memories. You can change modes using the MODE button (4).
Audio Inputs
Your Multiroom Tower Wi-Fi has two audio inputs for external devices:
- AUX 1: Located on the side of the top display, this is a 3.5 mm mini-jack input. Other playback modes are muted when a signal is detected.
- AUX 2: Located on the back of the tower, this is an RCA stereo input, suitable for permanent connection to a TV or music system. Use the MODE (4) option to enable/disable these inputs.
Connecting Multiple Wi-Fi Speakers (Multiroom Mode)
Connect multiple speakers to your private Wi-Fi network and control them simultaneously from your smartphone or tablet.
After setting up the first speaker, select the "+" option and follow the "Initial settings" steps to connect additional speakers. You can connect up to 8 speakers in Multiroom mode.
Individual Multiroom Mode:
This is the default mode. Each speaker plays music independently and can be controlled via the app or directly on the device. In the app's "List of devices" menu, each speaker appears on its own line.
Synchronized Multiroom Mode:
Play the same music on all speakers simultaneously. To set this up, go to "List of devices" in the app, select a speaker, and drag it to another track while maintaining contact. After a few seconds, the devices will synchronize, and synchronized tracks will appear on the app screen. This creates groups with a master speaker and other synchronized speakers.
You can assign different channels (Left, Right, Stereo) to each speaker. The synchronized mode remains active until manually disabled. Changing the master speaker's mode (e.g., to Bluetooth) will stream content via Bluetooth to all synchronized speakers.
To re-enable Individual Multiroom Mode, press the synchronized secondary speaker, select it, and drag it below the dotted line on the screen. The white line will disappear, and the mode will complete after a few seconds.
Connecting to the Speaker's Own Network
Multiroom speakers create their own Wi-Fi network for device interaction. The network name follows the "Multiroom_XXXX" format, where XXXX is a unique indicator. The network name can be changed via the device setup wizard.
You can connect directly to the speaker's Wi-Fi network. This network is encrypted by default with a WAP-PSK (AES) password. The default password is 0123456789. It is recommended to change this password for easier recall via the app's "Device information" menu or the device setup wizard.
Connecting Your Speaker to Your PC
The Multiroom speakers use the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) protocol for Wi-Fi communication, allowing connection to devices with Linux or Windows operating systems, and also supports AirPlay for Mac OS.
The advantage of this mode is that you do not need a router. A limitation is that you will not have internet access on the device you are currently using.
1) Windows 10:
- Connect to the device's network (refer to "How to connect to the speaker's network").
- Access Device Manager (Control Panel -> Hardware and sound -> Add device -> Active devices). Wait for the device to appear and add it as an external device using its network name. Ensure the connection is set up correctly.
- Stream music via Windows Media Player. Select songs, open the additional settings menu (right-click), find the "stream to a device" option, and select your speaker from the list.
2) Linux:
- Connect to the speaker's Wi-Fi network (refer to "How to connect to the speaker's network").
- Open the terminal and run the following commands to install the pulseaudio-dlna package for DLNA streaming:
sudo add-apt repository ppa:qos/pulseaudio-dlna
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install pulseaudio-dlna
pulseaudio-dlna
- Access your operating system's Audio Manager and select the Multiroom Wi-Fi speaker as the audio output.
3) Mac OS:
- Connect to the speaker's Wi-Fi network (refer to "How to connect to the speaker's network").
- Open iTunes, use the AirPlay protocol, and select the device as the external player.
Sound Equalizer
The Multiroom Tower Wi-Fi features two rear controls for equalization:
- Treble Control (17): Adjusts treble frequencies.
- Bass Control (15): Adjusts bass frequencies.
You can also select one of five preset equalizers using the EQUALIZATION button on the top display (3) or the remote control (26):
- EQ 0: Normal
- EQ 1: Pop
- EQ 2: Rock
- EQ 3: Jazz
- EQ 4: Classic
Charging Devices
The Multiroom Tower Wi-Fi includes two USB CHARGING PORTS (12) for connecting USB cables to charge devices like smartphones, tablets, or MP3 players, even while the speaker is playing music.
USB Charging Port Specifications:
- Voltage: 5V
- Current: 2A
Devices requiring more than 5V cannot be charged.
Changing Speaker Language
You can change the speaker's language via the app. Access speaker settings by tapping the Settings icon (⚙️) in the upper right corner of the audio track display. Then, select "Speaker info". The menu to select the speaker's language will appear, offering English and Spanish options.
Restore Default Settings
To delete current settings and restore factory defaults, select "APP" mode and press and hold the Restore settings button (5) for 10 seconds. A voice message will confirm the process has started. Allow approximately 2 minutes for the process to complete.
Connecting to Your Wi-Fi Network
There are two alternative methods to connect your speaker to your Wi-Fi network, besides the standard "Initial settings" procedure:
Option 1: Connect to the speaker's network. Refer to "How to connect to the speaker's network". Once connected, use the device installation wizard to force the speaker to connect to a specific network, as described in the "Wi-Fi setup wizard" section.
Option 2 (Android only): Use the app. If you encounter an error during connection, access a window with steps to set up the Wi-Fi network and restart searching. Select "Manually connect to a network".
You may need to run the app in the background, access your device's Wi-Fi settings, and connect to the speaker's Wi-Fi network. Then, restore the app to full-screen. The "Next" option, previously hidden, will appear.
Press the button to access the menu of available networks. Select your desired network and configure it if necessary to force the speaker's connection to your private network.
Minimum Router Requirements
For correct Wi-Fi operation, your router must meet these requirements:
- Wi-Fi Band: Requires a 2.4 GHz band. The Multiroom system is not compatible with 5 GHz bands.
- Security: The network must be encrypted with a WPA PSK key via AES, or have no password at all.
- Protocol Support: The router must support the Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) for speaker communication.
- SSID Broadcast: The network must have SSID broadcast enabled.
Considerations for Advanced Router Settings:
- Avoid assigning static IP addresses.
- Avoid filtering connections by MAC addresses.
- Do not use the router as a portal that requires a net access code via an internet browser, as this prevents speaker setup.
- High noise environments or low router-speaker performance can cause issues. Ensure the distance between the speaker and router is not excessive, and the Wi-Fi channel is not overloaded.
Wi-Fi Setup Wizard
The Multiroom Tower Wi-Fi includes a setup wizard to configure Wi-Fi parameters. Two options are available:
- Connect to the speaker's network by accessing the IP address 10.10.10.254 from an internet browser. Refer to the "How to connect to the speaker's net" section.
- Access the speaker's IP address from a device connected to the same network via an internet browser. This IP address is found in the "Speaker info" option within the app's settings menu.
Once accessed, the "Wi-Fi" menu displays network information. The active network name appears at the top, followed by a list of available networks. Selecting a network changes the speaker's active Wi-Fi connection.
The "Settings" menu has three tabs:
- Status: Provides general device information like specifications, firmware versions, and IP address.
- System: Allows changing the setup wizard language. Save modifications with the "Save" button. Firmware can be updated manually or online. Default settings can be restored here.
- Network: Enables changing the password, encryption type, and the speaker's Wi-Fi network name.
