Product Overview & Important Information
This document provides installation instructions, safety guidelines, and care information for the Carlson Maxi Walk-Through Gate with Small Pet Door.
⚠️ WARNING: Read all instructions before assembly and use. Keep instructions for future reference.
The gate is designed for use with children aged 6 to 24 months. Discontinue use if a child or pet can climb over or dislodge the gate. Always use with the locking/latching mechanism securely engaged. Never use at the top of stairs or to keep a child/pet away from a pool. Ensure the gate rests against the floor before installation. This is a pet gate, but when used with children, the small pet door must remain closed and latched. Pets can force themselves into very small openings; ensure pets' heads do not fit into openings. This product does not prevent all accidents; never leave a child or pet unattended. Check hardware and mountings regularly. Do not use if components are missing or damaged. Adult assembly required.
IMPORTANT: If mounting to a surface other than drywall or wood, consult a professional.

Assembly and Installation
Step 1: Determine Opening Width
For openings between 34.5" and 37.5", skip to Step 3.
For openings between 46.5" and 58.5", proceed to Step 2.
Note: Does not fit openings between 37.5" and 46.5". Additional extensions available.
Step 2: Attach Extension Panel
Use four double-ended screws (F) to fasten the extension panel (B) to the main gate panel (A). This allows the gate to fit within your doorway with 1" - 5" of extra space. Use two sets of screws on top and two on the bottom.
Diagram Description: Shows the extension panel (B) being attached to the main gate panel (A) using double-ended screws (F) at the top and bottom connections.
Step 3: Insert Threaded Rods
Insert the four threaded rods (D) into the four corners of the assembled gate. Rods do not need to be fully screwed in; final adjustments are made before installation is complete.
Diagram Description: Illustrates inserting threaded rods (D) into the designated points on the assembled gate panels.
Step 4: Mark Wall Locations
Use the paper wall mounting template (C) to mark exact locations for the maxi mounting brackets. Place the template against the wall, ensuring the bottom edge touches the floor. Use a level for precise placement. Mark screw hole locations through the template onto the wall. Repeat for the opposite side of the opening.
Diagram Description: Depicts using the paper template (C) to mark screw hole positions on a wall with a pencil, indicating precise placement.
Step 5: Attach Mounting Brackets
Use the eight 1" screws (E) to attach the maxi mounting brackets (G) to the wall at the marked locations.
Diagram Description: Shows a mounting bracket (G) being secured to a wall using screws (E) with a screwdriver. A "release tab" is indicated on the bracket.
Step 6: Connect Gate to Wall
Connect the assembled gate to the wall by inserting the flat ends of the threaded rods into the semi-circle slots at the bottom of each maxi mounting bracket. Adjust rod length for installation. Rods will lock in place upon correct insertion. Note: Install one side completely before installing the second.
Diagram Description: Illustrates the gate assembly being connected to the wall brackets by inserting the threaded rods (D) into the bracket slots, with an arrow indicating adjustment.
Step 7: Adjust and Tighten
Adjust the threaded rods so spacing is equal between the four corners. Use a wrench to tighten the locking nuts to secure the gate. Note: Maximum exposed threaded rod length should not exceed 2.5 inches.
Diagram Description: Shows the threaded rods (D) being adjusted for even spacing, and a wrench tightening nuts on the rods to lock the gate in place.
Operating the Door Latch
Step 1: Open Latch
To open the gate, press the release button on the handle and slide the handle back towards the hinge. To close, perform the same operation.
Diagram Description: A close-up view of the gate handle, with an arrow showing the release button being pressed and the handle sliding back.
Care and Maintenance
Periodically check the gate for damage, wear, or missing components. Do not use if any part is missing, worn, or damaged. Ensure all hardware and mountings are tightened. Do not use abrasive cleaners or bleach. Clean by sponging with warm water and a mild detergent.
Removing Your Gate from the Wall
To release the gate, press down on the release tabs on each maxi mounting bracket while lifting the threaded rods upwards and out of their locked position.
