General Description
The Rotronic HygroFlex5-Series offers universal transmitters for humidity and temperature measurements, compatible with interchangeable HC2 probes. This guide covers essential functions and installation for both duct and wall versions.

Mechanical Installation
Proper installation is crucial for accurate measurements. Key recommendations include:
- Select a representative installation site with adequate air movement (at least 1 m/s).
- Avoid proximity to heat sources, cooling coils, direct sunlight, steam, or precipitation.
- Ensure the probe is inserted as far as possible into the environment being measured.
- Install the probe tip pointing downwards or horizontally to prevent condensation.
Mounting options include direct mounting or using the AC5005 mounting flange for duct versions, and screw mounting or DIN rail clipping (with AC5002 kit) for wall versions.
Electrical Installation
The HygroFlex5-Series supports various models (HF52, HF53, HF54, HF55) with different power supply and output configurations (2-wire, 3-wire, galvanically separated, digital). Refer to the technical data and connection diagrams for specific model wiring.
Power Supply Considerations:
- HF52 (2-wire): 10-28 VDC, with load calculation for minimum voltage.
- HF53/HF54 (3-wire): 5-40 VDC or 5-28 VAC.
- HF55 (3-wire with digital output): 5-40 VDC or 12-28 VAC.
Caution: Incorrect supply voltages or excessive load can damage the transmitter.
Programming & Display
Basic settings are factory-configured. Devices with an LC display allow direct value reading. Menu navigation is available via MENU and ENTER buttons, with +/- for value adjustment. Unauthorized access can be prevented via the HW4 software.
Sources of Error & Maintenance
Potential errors can arise from short adaptation times, proximity to temperature extremes, steam, water spray, or air contamination (dust). Periodic cleaning or replacement of probe filters may be necessary.
Calibration of the probe is recommended every 6-12 months for maximum accuracy, though the electronics typically do not require field calibration. Advanced settings like scaling, adjustment, and firmware updates can be performed using the HW4 software and service cables (AC3006/AC3009).
