Operating Instructions

1. Declaration of Conformity

Metabo declares under its sole responsibility that the multisanders, identified by type and serial number, comply with all relevant requirements of the directives and standards. Technical file details are available on page 3.

For UK: Metabo declares under sole responsibility that these multisanders fulfill all relevant provisions of UK Regulations and Designated Standards.

2. Specified Use

The machine is suitable for dry sanding of flat and elliptical surfaces, wood, plastics, non-ferrous metals, sheet metal, and similar filled and painted surfaces. The user bears sole responsibility for damage caused by improper use. Generally accepted accident prevention regulations and safety information must be observed.

3. General Safety Instructions

[Important Safety Information] Pay attention to all parts of the text marked with this symbol for your own protection and the protection of your electrical tool.

[Warning] Reading the operating instructions will reduce the risk of injury.

[Warning] Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations, and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference and pass them on with the tool.

Dust Exposure Warning: Some dust created by this tool may contain substances known to cause cancer, allergic reactions, respiratory disease, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. Examples include lead, crystalline silica, wood treatment additives, certain woods (oak, beech), metals, and asbestos. The risk depends on exposure duration. To reduce exposure: work in a well-ventilated area, wear protective equipment (e.g., dust masks designed for microscopic particles), observe relevant guidelines for materials, staff, application, and place of application (occupational health and safety, disposal). Collect particles at the source, avoid deposits, use suitable accessories, and use a suitable extraction unit.

Reducing dust exposure measures:

  • Do not direct escaping particles or exhaust air at yourself, others, or dust deposits.
  • Use an extraction unit and/or air purifiers.
  • Ensure good workplace ventilation and cleanliness. Vacuuming is preferred over sweeping or blowing, which stirs up dust.
  • Vacuum or wash protective clothing; do not blow, beat, or brush it.

4. Special Safety Instructions

  • Pull the plug out of the socket before making adjustments, changing tools, or performing maintenance/cleaning.
  • Secure the workpiece against slipping, e.g., with clamping devices.
  • Wear ear protectors when working for long periods, as high noise levels can affect hearing.

5. Overview

See page 2 for component identification.

6. Commissioning

  • [Important Safety Information] Before plugging in, check that the rated mains voltage and frequency match your power supply.
  • Always install an RCD with a maximum trip current of 30 mA upstream.

Usage and Maintenance

6.1 Installation of Sanding Disc

Simple attachment and removal via velcro-type fastening. Press the sanding disc onto the sanding plate (2) ensuring the holes align.

7. Use

7.1 Switching On and Off

  • Switching on: Move switch (3) to "I" position.
  • Switching off: Move switch (3) to "O" position.

7.2 Dust Extraction

To optimize dust extraction, align the holes on the sanding disc (1) and sanding plate (2).

Integrated extraction system: Install the dust collection box (4) (see illustration, page 3). Empty the dust collection box (4) promptly and clean the filter (6) for optimal performance.

External extraction system: Fit dust extraction nozzle (see Accessories chapter). Connect a suitable extraction device with a 35 mm connector diameter hose. Note: For sanding abrasive material (e.g., plaster), connecting a suitable dust extractor is recommended.

8. Cleaning, Maintenance

  • Empty dust collection box (4): Open cleaning flap (5), empty the box. Remove fluted filter (6), knock off dust or clean with a brush. Ensure the filter is inserted into the lateral guides when reinserting.
  • Clean the machine regularly, including vacuuming ventilation louvres.
  • Replacing worn sanding plate (2): Remove fixing screws from the lower side, take off the old plate. Refer to the Accessories chapter for replacement plates. Mount the new plate and refit/tighten screws.

Repairs to electrical tools must be carried out by qualified electricians ONLY. A defective mains cable must be replaced with a special, original Metabo cable from Metabo service. The connection cable must only be replaced by Metabo or an authorized customer service workshop. Contact your Metabo service centre for repairs. Spare parts lists are available from www.metabo.com.

Environmental Protection

Observe national regulations on environmentally compatible disposal and recycling of disused machines, packaging, and accessories.

For EU countries: Do not dispose of power tools in household waste. Used power tools must be collected separately and handed in for environmentally compatible recycling according to European Guideline 2012/19/EU.

Emission Values

These values allow assessment and comparison of power tool emissions. Actual load may vary based on operating conditions, tool condition, or accessories. Allow for breaks and periods of lower load for assessment. Arrange protective measures (e.g., organizational measures) based on adjusted estimates.

Vibration total value (vector sum of three directions) determined in accordance with EN 62841:

  • ah = Vibration emission value (Surface sanding)
  • Kh = Uncertainty (vibration)

Typical A-effective perceived sound levels:

  • LpA = Sound pressure level
  • LWA = Acoustic power level
  • KpA, KWA = Uncertainty

[Warning] During operation, the noise level can exceed 80 dB(A). Wear ear protectors!
