Wiring Connections
Please follow the wiring diagrams below and ensure that correct polarity is observed. Incorrect wiring may cause the subwoofer to be out of phase with the rest of the system, resulting in a loss of bass.
Series 4Ω Impedance
Diagram shows a subwoofer with two terminals. For Series 4Ω Impedance, the positive terminal of one voice coil is connected to the negative terminal of the other voice coil. The remaining positive and negative terminals are then connected to the amplifier.
Parallel 1Ω Impedance
Diagram shows a subwoofer with two terminals. For Parallel 1Ω Impedance, the positive terminals of both voice coils are connected together, and the negative terminals of both voice coils are connected together. These combined terminals are then connected to the amplifier.
Note: The diagrams also indicate power ratings: 750 Watts RMS / 2250 Watts Peak Power for the BLACKAIR12D2-V7 model.
Run In Procedure
VIBE recommends following the run-in procedure for the subwoofer detailed below. When your subwoofer is used for the first time, it is naturally stiff and rigid. It will take time for the moving parts to loosen up before the subwoofer can deliver its full potential.
For the first thirty hours, it is recommended to play the subwoofer at low to medium volumes, gradually increasing the volume level as time progresses. As a guide, listening for one hour every day will take approximately one month for the subwoofer to run in properly.
You will notice a significant change in sound during this period. As the spider and surround run in, the sound will become deeper and harder, and the subwoofer's output will increase as the suspension loosens.
The subwoofer is like a car's engine; it needs a few thousand miles before it can be driven to its full potential. Driving it hard from the first day can lead to engine damage, which will not be covered by warranty.
Failure to follow this procedure is the most common reason for a subwoofer to fail after a short period.
