Chapter 2: Overview
2.1 Introduction
This document describes the Black Box USBC2000-R2 USB C Docking Station, an adapter that connects to a USB-C host computer and provides multiple ports for expanded connectivity. It features three USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI port, one RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet port, one Micro SD slot, one SD/MMC slot, and one USB-C port for data and Power Delivery (PD) charging. The docking station is compatible with PCs, tablets, and mobile phones supporting DP1.4 Alt Mode and is compatible with Thunderbolt 3 or above.
2.2 Features

- Supports USB 3.0 super speed (5 Gbps) transmission, backward compatible with USB 2.0.
- One of the three USB-A ports supports BC 1.2, providing up to 7.5W (5V/1.5A) power.
- Supports 10/100/1000Mbps bandwidth for the RJ-45 port.
- Supports HDMI resolution up to 4K @ 60Hz, HDR, and HDR10+.
- The Type-C female port supports data (5 Gbps) or PD Charging up to 100W (20 V / 5A), with a maximum of 85W for the host.
- Multiple USB-C interfaces support plug and play, hot swap.
- Supports Secure Digital v3.0 UHS-I (Ultra High Speed) standards including SDR12, SDR25, SDR50, DDR50, and SDR104.
- Allows SD and Micro SD cards to work simultaneously.
- Supports Fast Role Swap of PD 3.0, ensuring connected devices remain connected when a PD adapter is plugged in or unplugged.
- Designed for easy use and portability.
- Supports MAC Address pass-through and Wake-On-LAN.
NOTE: Description of the Detached Type-C M to M Cable
The included USB 3.1 Type-C Gen2 Full-featured cable supports speeds up to 10 Gbps, features an E-marked IC, and has a Vbus current capability of up to 5 Amp. For optimal performance and functionality, it is recommended to use only the Black Box equipped Type-C M to M cable or cables produced by Black Box with identical specifications. If the original cable is lost, contact Black Box Technical Support at 877-877-2269 or info@blackbox.com to purchase a replacement cable with the same specifications. Avoid using cables from other manufacturers.
2.3 What's Included

2.4 Hardware Description
The following sections describe the components of the docking station as shown in Figures 2-1 through 2-4.
FIGURE 2-1. FRONT OF UNIT
The front panel features the following components:
- USB Type C male connector: Connects to a MacBook or Chromebook computer.
- HDMI connector: Connects to an HDMI display, supporting resolutions up to 4K @ 60 Hz, HDR, and HDR10+.
- (3) USB Type A connectors: Connect to USB 3.0/2.0 devices.
- RJ-45 connector: Connects to an Ethernet network.
- USB Type C female connector: Connects to a USB Type C device or a Type C PD adapter.

The back panel includes:
- USB-C cable storage slot: This slot is designed for storing the included USB-C cable. The cable can be removed from here and plugged into the USB-C port labeled 'Host'.

Side 1 of the unit features card slots:
- Micro SD card slot: Insert a Micro SD card here.
- SD card slot: Insert an SD card here.

Side 2 of the unit includes:
- USB-C cable storage slot: This is where the supplied USB-C cable is stored when not in use.
- USB Type C connector: Connects to the host computer.
Chapter 3: Operation
Follow these steps to operate the USB C Docking Station:
- Connect the USB-C Female port of the USB C Docking Station to a Macbook, Chromebook, or other USB-C host using the included Type-C M to M cable.
- Connect up to three USB 3.0/2.0 devices to the three USB 3.0 outputs of the USB C Docking Station.
- Connect an HDMI output of the USB C Docking Station to a monitor using an HDMI cable.
- Connect the Gigabit Ethernet port of the USB C Docking Station to an Ethernet Router using an Ethernet cable.
- Configure the computer's IP address automatically or manually.
- Insert a Micro SD or SD/MMC card into the corresponding slots.
- Connect a Type-C PD charging adapter to the USB-C charging port. This allows simultaneous charging of the host computer (up to 85W) and power for the Docking Station (15W).
Chapter 4: Connection Diagram
The connection diagram illustrates how to connect various devices to the docking station:
- Connect the Type-C Host PC to the USB Type-C male connector on the docking station.
- Connect USB Devices to the three USB Type-A ports.
- Insert SD and/or Micro SD Cards into the respective slots on the side of the unit.
- Connect an HDMI Display (supporting 4K@60Hz, HDR, and HDR10+) to the HDMI port.
- Connect to an Ethernet Switch using an Ethernet cable plugged into the RJ-45 port.
- Connect a Type-C Device or Type-C PD Adapter to the USB Type-C female port for data or charging.
