Important: Read the battery safety instructions before charging. Do not charge the battery immediately after flight if it is hot. Allow it to cool to room temperature.

Pre-Flight Preparations

Folding Arms

Unfold the drone arms before flight: first the front arms, then the rear arms.

TF Card Installation

Insert a TF card (Class 10 or higher, up to 64GB) into the TF card slot to save photos and videos.

Propeller Installation

Ensure the correct propellers (marked 'A' or 'B') are attached to the corresponding motor shafts. Secure them with screws by tightening clockwise. To remove, use the screwdriver to loosen screws counter-clockwise while holding the motor.

Drone Battery Installation

Ensure the battery is correctly inserted into the drone until it clicks. To remove, press the battery lock button and pull the battery out.

Transmitter Setup

Unfold the foldable handgrip. Adjust the clamp to securely hold your mobile phone.

Transmitter Signal Range

Maintain optimal signal reception by adjusting the orientation and distance between the transmitter and the drone.

Pre-Flight Checklist

Flight Operations

Pairing the Transmitter and Drone

  1. Place the drone on a flat surface. Long press the power button to turn on the drone (red status lights will blink).
  2. Short press the power button on the transmitter to turn it on (indicator light will blink).
  3. Move the left joystick up and then down to pair. Successful pairing is indicated by the transmitter's indicator light changing from blinking to solid.

Wi-Fi Connection

  1. Go to your phone's Wi-Fi settings.
  2. Connect to the drone's Wi-Fi network (e.g., "HolyStoneFPV-XXXX").
  3. Launch the "HS GPS V5" app. A live video feed should appear in the app.

Note: The drone's Wi-Fi does not provide internet access. Ignore any warnings about unsafe or no internet connection.

Compass Calibration

  1. Step 1: Long press the compass calibration button on the transmitter (it will beep).
  2. Step 2: Hold the drone horizontally and rotate it three times. Status lights will change from fast to slow blinking.
  3. Step 3: Hold the drone vertically (nose up) and rotate it three times. Status lights will turn solid green or double red blink, indicating successful calibration.

Recommendation: Calibrate the compass before each flight, especially in areas prone to magnetic interference.

GPS Signal Search

After compass calibration, place the drone on a flat surface. The drone will automatically search for GPS signals. Solid green status lights indicate a successful GPS lock.

GPS Mode: The default mode is GPS. Once GPS is acquired outdoors, the drone will remain in GPS mode. If GPS signal is weak or flying indoors, you can exit GPS mode by short pressing the RTH button. The drone will be ready to unlock and take off with a solid yellow light, but GPS functions will be unavailable.

Gyro Calibration

Ensure the drone is on a flat surface. Simultaneously push both joysticks to the bottom right corner. The drone's status lights will blink and then turn solid, indicating completion.

Recommendation: Calibrate the gyro after pairing and after any crash.

Motor Unlock

Short press the unlock button. The motors will spin, and the drone is unlocked.

Takeoff/Landing

Speed Control

Short press the left joystick to switch between low (1 beep) and high (2 beeps) speed modes. Max speed: 9 m/s.

Camera Angle Adjustment

Use the dedicated buttons on the transmitter to tilt the camera up or down within a range of -70° to 0°.

Photo/Video Recording

Headless Mode

Activation: Short press the headless mode button (2 beeps). The drone will fly in the direction the joystick is pushed, regardless of its orientation.

Deactivation: Press the button again (1 beep). The drone returns to normal mode.

Why Orientation Matters: In normal mode, the drone's direction affects control. In headless mode, the drone remembers its initial 'head' direction, making controls intuitive.

Emergency Stop

In an emergency, long press the emergency stop buttons simultaneously. The drone will descend rapidly. Use with caution as it may cause damage.

Return to Home (RTH)

Smart RTH: Press the RTH button when the GPS signal is strong and a Home Point is recorded. The drone will return to the Home Point. Pressing the button again cancels RTH.

Failsafe RTH: Activates automatically if the transmitter connection is lost for over 15 seconds (requires strong GPS and recorded Home Point).

RTH Altitude: If the drone is below 20m, it will ascend to 20m before returning. If above 20m, it maintains current altitude. Be aware of obstacles during RTH.

Stabilization Functions

Optical Flow Positioning

The optical flow system uses a camera to track visual features for precise positioning, especially useful indoors or where GPS is weak. It works best at altitudes below 0.5-3 meters.

Limitations: Performance can be affected by lighting, surface textures, and movement. Avoid flying over featureless, very dark/bright, or reflective surfaces. Ensure sensors are clean and the environment is suitable.

App Functions

Interface Overview

Beginner Mode

The default mode limits flight distance to 30m and altitude to 30m. Disable Beginner Mode in the app settings to access full flight parameters.
