Product Description
The Braun BC15-DCF is a radio-controlled projection clock with various features:
- 1. LCD display: Shows time, alarm status, and other indicators.
- 2. Projection arm: Tilts 180 degrees to project the time onto a wall or ceiling.
- 3. Time set: Switch for setting the time.
- 4. Alarm set: Switch for setting the alarm time.
- 5. ALARM ON/OFF slider: Activates or deactivates the alarm.
- 6. Projection key: Turns projection on/off and rotates the projected image.
- 7. + key: Increases setting values or switches between 12/24 hour format.
- 8. - Key: Decreases setting values.
- 9. RESET key: Resets the clock to default settings.
- 10. RCC key: Initiates manual radio signal reception or disables automatic RC function.
- 11. DC Jack: For connecting the power adapter.
- 12. Battery compartment: Holds 3 AA batteries.
- 13. Brightness key: Selects backlight brightness.
- 14. SNOOZE / LIGHT touch-bar: Activates snooze or backlight.
- 15. Projector: Emits the time projection.
Display Symbols
- A. Time: Displays the current time.
- B. Low battery indicator: Appears when batteries need replacement.
- C. Alarm icon: Indicates when the alarm is active.
- D. DST: Indicates Daylight Saving Time is active.
- E. RC signal strength indicator: Shows the strength of the radio-controlled signal.
- F. Alarm time: Displays the set alarm time.
Radio Controlled Operation (DCF Version)
This clock is automatically set and controlled by the DCF radio signal broadcast from Frankfurt, Germany. The signal covers Germany and up to 1500km from Frankfurt, encompassing most of Central and Western Europe.
Getting Started
Option A: Battery operated
- Remove the battery door.
- Insert 3 new AA batteries, observing polarity.
- Press the RESET key. The display will turn on.
- After 6 seconds, the clock will automatically scan for the radio-controlled time signal.
- Close the battery door.
Option B: Adaptor operated
- Plug the power adapter into the DC jack on the back of the clock.
- Press the RESET key. The display will turn on.
- After 6 seconds, the clock will automatically scan for the radio-controlled time signal.
Setting the Time
- Slide the TIME SETTING / NEUTRAL / ALARM SETTING switch to the TIME SETTING position.
- Press the '+' or '-' key to set the desired time. Hold the key to speed up the setting.
- Slide the switch to the NEUTRAL position to save settings and return to normal display.
Setting the Alarm
- Slide the TIME SETTING / NEUTRAL / ALARM SETTING switch to the ALARM SETTING position.
- Press the '+' or '-' key to set the desired alarm time. Hold the key to speed up the setting.
- Slide the switch to the NEUTRAL position to save settings and return to normal display.
Using the Alarm and Snooze Function
- Enable the alarm by shifting the ALARM ON/OFF slider up (green indicator visible). The alarm icon will appear on the LCD.
- Tap the SNOOZE / LIGHT touch button to stop the alarm and activate the snooze function (alarm icon will flash).
- To disable the alarm and snooze, shift the ALARM ON/OFF slider down. The alarm icon will disappear.
- Note: The snooze function will repeat the alarm after 5 minutes unless the ALARM ON/OFF slider is shifted down.
Choosing the Backlight Brightness
Press the 'Brightness' key to cycle through four backlight settings: NO BACKLIGHT, WEAK BACKLIGHT, MEDIUM BACKLIGHT, and STRONG BACKLIGHT. The backlight remains on permanently when using the DC adapter; otherwise, it turns off automatically after 10 seconds.
Using the Projection Function
- With battery power, the projection is ON for 10 seconds after pressing the SNOOZE / LIGHT touch-bar.
- With DC adapter power, continuous projection can be enabled by pressing and holding the Projection button for 3 seconds to disable, and pressing again to enable.
- The projection arm can be tilted 180 degrees.
- The projected image can be rotated in 90-degree increments by pressing the 'Projection' button.
- Note: The projection function may not work correctly at distances less than 1 meter.
Important Notes for Reception
- For best reception, start the clock at night and allow it to receive the signal automatically overnight.
- Place the unit away from interfering sources like TVs, computers, and microwaves.
- Avoid placing the unit on or next to metal surfaces.
- Avoid enclosed areas like airports, basements, or factories.
- Note: Electrostatic discharge may cause the clock to reset. If this occurs, follow the manual's instructions to set the clock again.
Battery Precautions
- Do not use rechargeable batteries.
- Use only new AA alkaline batteries of the same or equivalent type.
- Ensure correct battery polarity when inserting.
- Keep batteries away from children.
- Dispose of exhausted batteries according to local regulations; do not discard with household waste.
- Avoid short-circuiting battery contacts.
- Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for an extended period.
- Remove exhausted batteries promptly to prevent leakage and damage to the clock.
Guarantee
Braun offers a 2-year guarantee against material and workmanship defects (excluding batteries). The guarantee is valid in countries where the clock is officially sold. Broken or cracked lens screens are not covered.
